Air Source Heat Pump

I have just had an ASHP installed. It is useless unless you want to spend over £600 per month on electricity. The temperature has just gone down below freezing and it might as well not be on. £14,000 wasted. I am having it taken out and going back to my oil boiler - at least it keeps me warm!

No Help When The Warranty Is Over

I had a grant boiler installed 6 years ago with no issue the warranty run out after 5 years and its been serviced every year. This year the water jacket sprung a leak and could not be repaired. when i contacted grant to buy the parts 1st i was told i couldn't, then i was told i needed to buy all of the boiler minus the burner as parts went sold separately. in short 2/3rd of the boiler cost. going forward I will avoid grant as there were little to no help and didn't seem to care as I'm sure like most people we dont intend on buying a boiler every 6 years.

Dreadful, Asked To Waive Consumer Rights On Faulty Product!

Dreadful, do not expect any customer service from this company. Grant sold me a faulty boiler.....it took several months at my cost.....to establish that it had a cracked heat exchanger and what did they do? They lost my complaint paperwork.....forgot to call out one of their Engineers to look at the problem (whoops they do not have their own engineers, they sub-contract!) and then lost the paperwork again!!! Their own representative has been to site agreed there was a fault and then Grant sent me paperwork asking me to waive my consumer rights in advance of rectifying the matter!!!!. Grant did nothing to cover my reasonable costs, offered a replacement heat exchanger (if I waived my rights), required me to arrange the return of the boiler (including placing it on a pallet) but would only contribute £250 towards labour to re-install.....All of which will be reposted to Which Magazine with full correspondence avoid this company like the plague and buy a boiler from another manufacturer who respects consumer rights

Waste Of Money.

Our Grant oil fired combi will be five years old next January. We've decided to have it replaced.

Since we've had it the followings have been replaced:-

Check valve;

Domestic hw pump;

Domestic hw heat exchanger;

Expansion vessel;

Air vent;

Pressure switch (the replacement pressure switch is taller than the original so the boiler top can not be fitted properly).

It's now been on in heating mode for ten days and has failed twice already.

That's all.

snap our GRANT oil fired combi boiler we have had 5 years February has been nothing but trouble since after a year old it’s the biggest load of rubbish and trouble anyone can buy.we have paid hundreds of pounds for the parts the same as you as we still have problems on a weekly basis , it’s disgusting as GRANT manufacturers should replace and give us a new one , shame on you stand up and do what’s right give us a new boiler

Totally agree with you. We are on our second Grant (external) boiler. We just thought the first one was just bad luck and got talked into having another one. We have the equivalent to triggers broom and now sitting here with no heating and having to top up the pressure to we can get hot water. Topping it up twice a day. Been told it's now the main part that's gone and can't be replaced. We called Grant over the years and even our engineer emailed them with the list of problems, which just kept happening, they too said it was unacceptable. They didn't want to know. Our engineers at a G1 approved installer aswell, so you would think Grant would listen to them, wouldn't you. Looking now for another boiler, but very limited when you have oil. Shame on you GRANT, very poor. I would NEVER EVER EVER give you a good word. The reviews I could be bothered to read were all good but only on very new boilers, give it time people, give it time, when they start going wrong - scrap it and buy something else. Thinking Worcester this time.

Unreliable And Expensive Parts

Had a Spira 9/26 for over 3 years. Has given lots of trouble. Never a month goes by without one problem or another. Parts are extortionate and not easily come by. Have been on phone 15 minutes waiting for assistance. The part I need costs £300+ and this is the second one (out of warranty). Luckily, I and quite technical and can service and repair myself or it would be much worse.

Grant Pro Outdoor Vortex Combi 26

Very Satisfied with the boiler so far, however the warranty should read 2 YEARS NOT 5.

If you want 5 years you HAVE TO PAY AN EXTRA £300, not very clear when advertised.

Its not hard to be open and honest instead of hiding the full details which most people over look.

Time will tell if I have made the correct purchase. My last grant combi lasted 10 years, I hope to get a bit more out of this one.....

10 Years Good Service - Now Looking Forward To Next 10

Had a Grant Oil Combi 26 installed about 10 years ago - there have been various small things go wrong mainly due to initial bad installation. Another fairly expensive repair became necessary so decided to replace boiler with new model. Now have good heating engineer and new installation only took one day to complete. Have always been fan of combis as the most efficient way to heat my home and provide instant hot water especially for small number in household. Am hoping this new boiler will serve me well for at least another 10 years.

Shocking Reliability

Had two boilers installed in a new property. So far spent over £5,000 in repairs, spare parts, call outs. On advice from my boiler engineer who had never experienced anything like it, I called Grant in to sort out the problems which they were unable to do effectively.

I persevered, each time something went wrong it was just a few more £ to repair and I needed a quick response not available from Grant, so my local engineer helped us out. What a wake up call when I worked out what I had actually spent.

I approached Grant again asking them to do something. All I got was prevarication, I had to chase every response and in the end they have just left me with a 'tough luck'.

Do you spend £5k+ on boilers and expect them to cost over £5k to maintain? No!

Poor service, poor quality, shocking reliability.

Good Customer Service, But A Wholly Unreliable Product

We have had our Grant Combi boiler for 8 years. In that time it has broken down 6 times. Grant were very helpful and sent an upgrade kit for our boiler to rid it of a number of unreliable components they had phased out, but it still breaks down.

Of course, when it's working, it's excellent, especially unlimited hot water on tap, but I'm sitting here, un-showered, with the prospect of waiting up to three days for a repair, despite having an expensive service agreement with the local heating company!

So good customer service, but I'm afraid I will never buy another Grant boiler.

Q&A

GRAHAMNEWSOM123

Registering a new boiler within 30 days gives a 2 year warranty. Yet if I agree a 3 yr warranty this cost is £199. Does that mean one year, the third, costs £199?
