Terrible Company
I purchased a travel insurance in advance for a group trip to Israel. We paid deposit to the travel agent 2 months ago and the remainder is due 4 months later. however, 2 weeks before the due day (4 months before the planned trip) we were notified by the travel agent that they canceled our trip and will refund our deposit. upon heard this, I contacted Allianz requesting refund. They would not refund but saying I could use the money for another trip within 2 years. This is outrageous. The insurance I purchased for the trip and it has not takes place yet. there was no trip and no coverage. Allianz did not provide any service yet. they refused to refund me. Like a customer ordered something which will be making in 4 months but has not caused anything to the company so far. the customer wants to cancel this order and could not. Alliance is prancing Ponzi scheme and is a terrible company. I wound never buy their services and Strongly discourage anyone to consider Allianz.

Allianz Global Assistance Does Not Assist!
We booked with Fresh Tracks Canada for 24,300 US dollars a train trip (VIA RAIL) from Vancouver to Toronto in summer 2020 and paid a deposit of 7,300 US dollars. Fresh Tracks informed us in May that the trip was cancelled because of Corona. We could not accept because of our ages any of the postponement offers (they were not customer friendly anyhow). Fresh Tracks refused to reimburse the deposit. We had fortunately bought from Allianz Global Assistance, business partner of Fresh Tracks, a “Trip Cancellation & Interruption Package Plan” plus, for a 17% premium surcharge, a “Cancel For Any Reason" insurance. Consequently we felt confident and we claimed the reimbursement of the deposit . On June 4 2020 Allianz Global Assistance acknowledged having received our claim. Since then(20 weeks at the time of writing this review) we have no heard of them in spite of several reminders.
After 4 months of waiting for an answer from Allianz Global Assistance we filed a complaint with their CA/customers/complaint-resolution-process web page for showing no action whatsoever to solve our case. We did not know that an insurance company could have such a grim sense of humour: they answered “We appreciate your understanding, and will provide you with a response within 60 days of receiving your appeal”. We complain that they do not act since 4 months and they answer that they will response (not act!) in 2 months! Good joke
Needless to say, we are terribly disappointed by Allianz Global Assistance. Allianz makes anyhow a good deal: we insured 24,300 US dollars and we are claiming the reimbursement of only 7,300 US dollars. That seems to be too much for them! I would never had thought that a major insurance company, worldwide known, would use methods known from rogue insurance companies.
Totally agree. I had similar experience. Stay away from Allianz
Charges On My Credit Card
We bought tickets for a concert in Las Vegas and used my charge card. When I received the statement there was a separate charge from Allianz. Since I had NO idea about this charge or who they were. I called. HE was very RUDE and did not answer my main question, which was " why this hidden Charge "? I gave them all the information he needed to find the order, but he just couldn't find my information. LOL...and said to write to them requesting a refund..Anyway, my husband called to cancel with no problem.. Guess it was because I AM A WOMEN..I will be looking for hidden charges in the future.

Unfair!
My cancellation was based on a college student who had to cancel a month study abroad because of a scholarship funding being reduced/cut. Bought the insurance to cover possible necessity of cancellation just to be told that this particular situation is not covered. It seems if the course had been cancelled it would have been covered but since just the funding was cancelled which amounts to the same thing for this student, it is not covered. We need that money to fund next semester's schooling, but this company would not even discuss this "grey" area. Never again--not with Allianz or Delta (where I got the name Allianz from in the beginning.) It is impossible to speak with a real person at Delta and Allianz has extremely poor customer service---rude and very uncaring!!

Worst Company Ever!
I had a trip planned to Croatia in December 2017. I bought a full coverage package. On my way to the airport I made a stop and when I got to the airport my passport had been stolen. I called them and did everything they said including filing a police report. Like others they have excuses for everything and I still have not heard from them regarding my claim. They asked for more information which I provided. I travel a lot and have Always used them. I was an airline employee for 30 years. You can be sure I will not use them again and I will pass the word along about my experience with them. There are many other companies out there.
I cannot believe so many people fell into victims of Allianz's deception by purchasing some sort of travel insurance. It never worked as they claim. Allianz should be banned from continuing to cheat customers
They Had An Excuse For Everything
We planned a trip to Amsterdam back in April 2017. Bought the insurance to cover the 2000.00 tickets. Two days before our trip, our best friends son is in a horrific vehicle accident and hurricane Irma is heading for our second home on Florida gulf coast. We could not leave the USA for both those reasons. I filed claim, detailed paperwork. It was denied since the person hurt and still in hospital was not a family member. Also our home in Florida is not our primary residence and so being concerned about leaving the country didn't fit the parameters of the policy. What a joke. They will weasel out of anything you bring forward. Never again!! Lesson learned.
Do Not Buy!
We bought this travel insurance to cover a trip to Barcelona cruising the Mediterranean. Had never bought trip insurance before, but decided our financial risk on this trip warranted being insured against the unexpected.
We did not read any of the reviews on this company, UNTIL as luck would have it, we needed to file a claim. SHAME ON US!! Once we read the reviews, we knew we were in trouble. They pay very FEW claims. Our claim was approved, however. Great you say? Not so fast. Their conditions are so specific that you are better off traveling without this insurance. Our claim was for trip delay, missed connection and ultimately cancellation of entire trip. The monetary amount we requested, after some re-reimbursements from our suppliers, was $8800.00. They approved our claim for trip delay only and sent my spouse and myself a check for $150 each. I submitted 28 PDF files of documentation detailing the circumstances that occurred (all in 24 hours) to cause the cancellation. These included flight cancellation, re-booking twice and flight delay, causing missed connection. Also an itinerary of our cruise showing the ship would have left by the time we took another flight the following day. Also, receipts for rental car to drive to different airport to take the re-booked flight (that turned out to be delayed).
We appealed their decision and were ultimately told that:
Canceled services terms:
Your airline, cruise line, or tour operator or travel supplier stops offering all services for at least 24 consecutive hours where you’re departing, arriving or making a connection because of:
a natural disaster;
severe weather; or
a strike.
Specific requirements: (all must apply)
Your travel supplier doesn’t offer you a substitute itinerary; and
The striking workers aren’t employed by the supplier you purchased your plan or travel services from, or an affiliate of that supplier.
In short, we are completely out of a vacation and a boatload of money. (Pun intended)
FYI: I've read so may reviews of this company not even paying for cancellation due to serious medical situations and even a death in one case. The reason for denial was "pre-existing condition".

The Worst Us Insurance Company I've Ever Run Into
Denied my claim when my mother died and I had to cancel my trip. When I filed the claim they denied it, saying she had a pre-existing condition. What? Like living? This is a heartless company. Terrible. Stay away.
Waste Of Money Missleading!!!!!!!!!
BEWARE read their long list of exclusions the only way you will get paid if somebody die or admitted in hospital.

Think Twice Before You Purchase
I purchased a collision/damage policy for a rental car on 12/23. While speaking with a friend she told me that the policy would not be accepted when I picked up the rental in Mexico. She ran into this problem when she rented a car, so I called on 12/24 and cancelled the policy through their automated system. The automated system told me the policy had been cancelled and I have yet to see a refund in my account for the purchase price of the policy.
When I got to the counter to pick up my rental car, I asked the representative if they accepted the insurance coverage through Allianz and she stated that they do not accept insurance policies purchased online. I ended up having to leave a $1,500 deposit for the rental, because the rental company wanted more than $800 for 14-days of insurance coverage for the rental. Even if I had not cancelled this policy, I still would have had to leave this deposit.
Still waiting on my refund. I reached out to them several times and still no one has responded.
