If You Want The Digital Dream L'elite Camera To Wo

If you want the Digital Dream L'elite camera to work in winxp then do a search for the following driver on Google. DSC-3XPCameraDriverver1.1 (it's a D Shot driver but works with the l'elite)

I spent a day trying to get it to work until I tried this one.

The Digital Dream L'elite As To Be The Worst &poun

The Digital Dream L'elite as to be the worst £100 I've spent!

I even exchanged it because it was being weird with my XP, the new one was just as bad.

I agree with the other reviews that it takes up too much battery power + flash light only works once or twice with new batteries.

The Digital Dream Quantum 3.2 is £129.99 at 3.2mp and much much much better, for an extra £30 you can't go wrong. Even though I bought mine on e-bay for £40.

DO NOT get the l'elite camera. You have been warned!!!!!!!

I Have Had The Digital Dream L'elite Digital Camer

I have had the Digital Dream l'elite Digital Camera for about three years. First used it without additional flash card, at home only, downloading the 4-5 shots to the computer every time. She is a female. Very romantic, seeing the world in her own imaginable colors, dreaming a lot as her name suggests. Now I've got 64Mb flash card - but it is far too much for Miss D Dream. I should switch her off after 3-4 shots to save them in the flash card. It takes me 2-3 minutes usually. Than I switch her on - and half a minute later she is ready to work again. She is afraid of darkness and of too much contrast at a sunny day - the medium English winter is her favorite season. Batteries? - she is just sucking them like candies... does not grow fat, no harm, indeed. Flash? - the decent English lady is never flashing... but at some especial occasion.

I Have Found A Lot Of Bad Points About The L'elite

I have found a lot of bad points about the L'elite digital camera from Digital Dream. The batteries run out about every 30 minutes, or sooner, the flash is really unreliable and is really hard to make it work, it doesn't work well with natural light and the flash is too strong, but you need to use the flash to make the pic show up without lines. The batteries and flash are my main concerns, the installation bundle was poor and the software was awful, it is not worth £99. The movies that you can make are bad quality and are hard to set up. It is a complete ripoff. This camera is only worth £25 if that. The battery cost for 200 pictures has cost about half the price of the camera. It is ridiculous.

I recently purchased the same camera and found exactly the same problems connecting it to a PC through the USB port.

I've tested this on 9 computers (4 Win98 & 5 W2K). The machines were a mix of models from : Compaq, Dell, Gateway, and IBM.

I Have Been Playing With The Digital Dream L'elite

I have been playing with the Digital Dream L'elite digital camera ever since I got it. It's small, cheap and easy to get around as well as taking great 1.3 mega pixel photos that are easily uploaded to your PC using the USB cable that comes in the box.

Takes a while to load and sometimes does not load at all. the battery life is far from great and unless you pay another £40 for a flash card it's not worth taking high rez pics anywhere except near your computer so u can upload and take more.

Judge The Digital Dream L'elite For Yourself.....

Judge the Digital Dream L'Elite for yourself.....

Lies about Windows XP compatability; no instructions bundled with it; 2 installation CDs incorrectly labelled and looking like something from a market stall; flash didn't work; on-off switch faulty - very annoying!; controls strictly for pigmys only; battery life about 20 minutes; joke of a short video recorder; dubious installation - it appears as a network connection under windows XP (which it manages to lock up when you try to access pictures).

OK value for money. But then you buy it thinking it at least might function correctly!

I completely agree, this is the worst camera I have ever used and a complete rip-off at £100. On/off button doesn't work properly, flash only works on rare occasions and it uses up AA batteries at about 1 every 15 minutes :| With win98/ME & XP I have found it randomly locks up when trying to get pictures off the camera (and never works on XP at all...)

Quality of picture is ok on high, but the camera is completely useless without a memory card and doesn't even take the number of pictures specified on the box! For a decent camera get a Nikon Coolpix775 :D somwhat more expensive though ;)

Sorry - tactilefan, I have to disagree with you - you've been unfortunate and your review reflects your dissatisfaction. I have no problems with the l'Elite.

What do you want for this kind of money?

Bought The Digital Dream L'elite Camera Xmas 2001,

Bought the Digital Dream L'elite camera Xmas 2001, and has hardly been out of my hands since! Used it with 32 meg Compact Flash memory card which stores well over 100 pics at Hi Res (have not filled it up in one go yet). This camera does exactly what it says on the box and gives good results. Full of features plus 1.3 megapixels for £99. Webcam picture slightly dim..needs good lighting for use as webcam.

Heavy on batteries (as all digital cameras are!)..so buy some NiMH rechargables to go in it.

Problems with WinXP drivers which DigitalDreams are working on to fix soon.

Another Review By "debs" On This Site Is Unfairly

Another review by "Debs" on this site is unfairly critical of the Digital Dream D'Elite digital camera - she must have been totally unlucky and got a faulty one - no problem, the camera is fully guaranteed.

And to the contrary, it IS good value for money! This camera is an inexpensive entry to digital imaging. It is a small bodied camera housing a true 1.3 Mp CCD.

The quality of images is very good. The onboard 8 Mb memory is only good for 8 images in high quality definition, because it runs other functions, but with an inexpensive additional 16 Mb Compactflash card, I got 50 high quality images, which are quite safe on the card, even when removed from the camera..Battery energy drain, as in most digital cameras, is heavy, but using a battery charger and rechargeable 1700 ma NiMH batteries, it is very affordable.

The camera functions as straight digital still camera, short (30 secs.) movie (in low definition) and webcam.

It comes complete with tripod, pouch and software.

The manual (downloaded from the accompanying CDRom), I have to agree with Debs, has some inaccuracies, regarding buttons, but can be sensibly "sussed" out fairly quickly - buy it!

I May Have Been Really Unlucky To Get The One Came

I may have been really unlucky to get the one camera which quite clearly had more problems than other users.

It did take really nice pictures if cleared off the memory straight away. If held longer the colour would dissolve into bands. The software (not twain compliant) installed itself into modems under Device Manager.

My problems began when I upgraded the 8mb memory to 32mb, unfortunately it didn't work and the camera had a breakdown. The mechanism to release the compact card did not work and tweezers were the only way to get it out.

I would like to say that this camera does have a plasticky feel to it and the slider to remove the 32mb compact card does not work so it is very fiddly to remove. Having spoke to the manufacturer they inform that they are rebuilding this model.
