Anybody know if there is any hacks for the philips dvd 612s & for the macravision.

Dee Alonzo.

This is quite a reasonably priced machine when purchased and has a lot of features of more expensive machines.

To get the most out of its multi region features check out many of the usful sites on the web.

After Searching Through Over 50 Websites Looking F

After searching through over 50 websites looking for the Philips DVD 612S DVD player at the cheapest price I found it at Amazon. This is a great basic DVD player does all of the sound output formats, has a great and clear menu system, and can be used as a region free player using a code entered from the remote. Not only that but it also has some other tricks up its sleve which it doesn't you about in the manual.

It is compatible with MP3 CD playback, despite what it says in the manual about it only being available on the DVD 622 model. It picks up all of the tracks and albums in folders and plays them back in (I think) alphabetical order, only problem here is that it doesn't tell you the track/album names from the ID3 tags in the MP3 files, but who cares it still plays them !!.

My problem is that I picked up a One for all 6 remote to hack my 612s player and somehow inadvertantly keyed in wrong codes and now the (TV) screen is black and white and very pixilated. Does anyone know how to restore factory settings so I can start again with the correct hack? Any assistance will deserve a beer or two. (I eventually did the RC6 code 222 222 005 255 PLAY Hack but it didn't sort it out)

Chris.

I too have a Philips 622 and have been trying to find the codes to convert to watch region 1 films. Could someone please let me have the codes + information on how to entry them. If I have a problem is there also a code to reset to factory settings?

Geoff.

I bought a Philips 612s 10 months ago. I used Smart Ripper and DVD X to encode (backup) one of my own bought DVD's to mpeg 1 (VCD) to try out their VCD claim. Having read in the Player manual before I bought the 612S that it played VCD and SVCD. Not so, now my teen age kids are doing their very best to use my DVD's as coffee coasters and play frisbies with my very expensive DVD's when i'm out. I would rather they used the backups I could have made of them all (useing inexpensive 80 minute CD-R's, more CD's for them to play with as well). The VCD's play great in the computer. HELP. I need those Philip's 612s tricks. If it say's in the manual that it'll play VCD's why doesn't it?

I too would like to have the codes for this machine. I have found numerous codes on the internet that allow me to change to region 1. It works a little ie: it plays some cds but not all. Recently purchase Buffy from Amazon.com Region 1, but it doesnt play these discs.

And now i think i have locked my machine forever.

Anyone know how to restore to factory settings.
