I Bought My Alba Dvd114 Dvd Player For £25!
I bought my Alba DVD114 DVD Player for £25! Last year and it is the best player I have ever used. at the time I had been using 2 much posher and more expensive players at my home but after 3 months of use they both started to skip on perfectly good disks even new ones out the box after about an hour of play! So I thought I would unpack the Alba and give it a go. What I found was an easy to set up region free (out the box) fully loaded RGB DVD Player with a coaxial digital output just waiting to be plugged in next to my SKY+ optical input of the back of my TV. I found that the coaxial digital overrided the optical input so I do have to push the phono in when I want to watch a DVD and not sky in DD (Dolby Digital) but as with the white noise problem this is a TV compatibility issue and nothing to do with the DVD player. I have never had any trouble playing anything on it... dvdr dvdrw +/- cdr cdrw vcd mp3 on cd/dvd but to be honest 99% of the time I am using commercial DVDs and CDs so there could be problems I don't know about. I work in a video rental shop and a lot of the time I have to take disks that have been returned 'faulty' home to test before we write them off and in the last year my Alba player has not skipped even once on these disks. If you have a dd and dts decoder or just want a player that does what is says on the tin then go for this one you will not beat it for under £200.

Very Impressed! Only Bought My Alba Dvd114 Because
Very impressed! Only bought my Alba DVD114 because it was the only one to play VCDs but I am now totally hooked on DVDs!
I've had the machine for about 18 months or so now - it's still going strong which is great for such a lower-priced machine.
Very easy to use so it's good buy for anyone new to DVDs.
A nice, simple machine!

I Have To Say I Am Very Impressed With My 114. It'
I have to say I am very impressed with my 114. It's played everything I've put it it. I have even burned my own DVD+RW discs and managed to play them in this player without any probs. It also seems to be multiregion as I've played Region 1 DVDs in it as well as the usual Region 2. I've also used it to play my own video cds which I have burned onto CDR and CDRW. MP3s play well through it as well. If connected to a home cinema system via the coaxal or optical outputs, the sound is fantastic. I highly recommend this player to anyone wanting to buy a very flexible DVD player without spending a fortune.

Must Agree With All Reviews, A Fantastic Dvd Playe
Must agree with all reviews, a fantastic dvd player. I need to know if anyone has a hack or an idea on recording onto video to get rid of the macro vision. I always get the usual mess on the playback of the recording. Any help would be useful.

Am Interested To Know If Anyone Else Has Had Probl
Am interested to know if anyone else has had problems playing vcd's on cd-r's on this machine..if so anyone know a way around it?
Same problem here! It gives good visual but no audio on vcd and svcd on cdr. This is a shame because, dare I say it, most bootleg copies are in vcr format, so if that's what you're playing the machine is unreliable and therefore not worth buying.
no problem playing anything might be an early version of same product or a later one don,t know exept mine plays everything!!!!!!
Yes I have had the same problem with me Alba DVD 114. But unfortunatley I am still hunting the answer! Sorry.

I have the same problem, it shows MP3 but won't play it.

Well In A Way Its Just Like Ronseal Woodstain, In
Well in a way its just like Ronseal Woodstain, in that it does what it says on the box STRAIGHT outta the box! and for just under £70.00 its a bargain!!
I play my copies w/o problems...what media are you using?.. I tend to stick with Verbatim and TDK DVD-Rs i've had NIL problems with it and the 114 is just PERFECT, just make sure your writing the dvd's properly..as in use a proper DVD writing software, i use Roxio Toast Titanium on my apple mac and Nero on my PC...both of them using a Formac external Devideon DVD-RW firewire drive.
i got the alba 114 but couldnt play copy dvds on it has anyone else had this problem

I Ordered A Bush Dvd2023 From A Mail Order Catalog
I ordered a Bush DVD2023 from a mail order catalogue, but they were out of stock. They said they would send a replacement. It turned out to be the Alba DVD114.
I wanted one that played multi region as I have a friend in USA who can ship me DVD's.
I saw this website, and read the reviews on this machine.
I just got a R1 DVD off ebay, and was pleasently surprised to find that what I read was true. The DVD played with no problem.
I had got a code off ebay to make the machine multi regional, but it wasn't needed.
For an £80 machine I say it is good value for money.
If your region 1 DVD is B&W press display button on remote (with tray empty) and set display setting to "content specific". Forcing PAL output causes this. Your TV must be NTSC compatible though.
Although this m/c plays all regions could anybody tell me why when I play Band of Brothers region 1 everything is OK, but when I play Planet of the Apes special edition region 1 it is in black and white.
