I Have Seen The Same People Playing This Game For
I have seen the same people playing this game for years. They often take a hiatus to play other games but always come back to SOF2. It is the staple. We all want a new version to come out but I'm sure I will be playing this still for a long time. BF2, COD and others are good but they are slower (more camping and guns not accurate when jumping around). It's really fun when you are doing well and in a 20min game you can get up to 100 kills on a small map. I highly recommend this game but you will have to practice a lot and die A LOT before you can play well with the big boys. Camp all you want... You will still die. Use headphones instead of speakers because you can hear exactly where someone is and how far away they are - noobs often die before they know what hit them.

Product: Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix (PC Game)
General/Summary:
This game is merely mediocre. Though there has been some praise for it, there is nothing innovative about it. Nothing in this game particularly makes it stand out amongst other First Person Shooter games.
Gameplay:
Controls-The controls are very easy to adjust to and are easy to learn. Those who played other First Person Shooter games such as Counter-Strike will adjust easily whereas people new to First Person Shooters may struggle somewhat in the beginning.
Realism-I cannot say that this game is realistic. Though some have said that it is, it really is not. Multiple times, I have shot other online players in the face with a shotgun point blank, only to have them turn around and fire back. Other than this, the guns are very easy to use and the variety of them makes this game play exciting, especially online.
Maps-The maps in this game are very expansive and easy to learn. Because the many of the maps have multiple entrances to buildings, it makes the game play very suspensful.
Sound-The sound I must say are very unrealistic. The AK47 fire is very simple and when one hears it being fired, sighs in exasperation.
Note: All in all, the game is simple and I would not recommend the game to game players, especially children, for the game is very gory.

Soldier Of Fortune 2 - Double Helix Uses The Quak
Soldier Of Fortune 2 - Double Helix uses the Quake III arena graphics engine, so it comes as no surprise that it is exactly like any other first person shooter using the same engine (Medal of Honor - Allied Assault, Return to Castle Wolfenstein and the like).
What the developers have done is pushed the boundary of gore effects in the game, allowing you to detatch limbs from their bodies and splinter bones etc. This is a complete contrast to the bloodless Medal of Honor - Allied Assault. This is where the key lies. While SOF2 is a highly entertaining shoot em up, i would place Medal of Honor in the simulation category, with the focus more on strategy.
To appreciate this game to its full potential, you will need to run it on a fast PC with a really good graphics card. It only just runs on my system which is a Celeron 667 with a 3D Prophet Kyro graphics card (don't laugh, i know its outdated, but it works).
If you are thinking of buying it for the kids then don't! With a vast amount of blood letting it really does deserve its 18 certificate!!!
An alternative similar veined game without the gore is Star Wars - Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast which is also reviewed on this site.
this is the best multiplayer game over the internet ive played so far.
very addictive.
