If You Want Really Nice Cinema Sound, From Your Sp
If you want really nice Cinema Sound, from your sparkly new DVD player, but simply do not have the room for a big Seperates Amp, 5 seperate speakers AND a bass box, then this just has to be the best you can buy.
It's not cheap: I paid £350 over a year ago and that's about the same as it is now. However, for me, the ability to have tiny satellite speakers that are easy to put away, and a bass box that can be hidden from my destructive dogs, left the opposition no chance. Not for me a 3 foot high speaker either side of my TV and a centre channel speaker bigger than my DVD player. I can put this lot away in a cupboard in minutes.Which means that potential "Prying Eyes" can't see it from outside either whilst I'm out.
Sound:
Satellites(x4):Mind Boggling for the size of the speakers. The drivers in the satellites are fantastic, and the little boxes are accoustically shielded and baffled. They sound truly incredible.
Centre channel:A bit weak, BUT it sits on the TV top easily, and has all the control lights on it and the volume control, so it's convenient.
Remote:Easy to use, and adjust individual speaker volumes too. It's tiny as well.
Bass Box:The amp and decoder are in this as well. All the wires go here. Both COAX digital AND FibreOptic digital.Plus the cable for the centre channel(good length) and the power etc, plus the cable connects for the 4 satellites. AND ITS LOW AND LOUD..it makes this set up a powerhouse.
Right, onto technology :-)Plug in your Video or Stereo to the Phono inputs, and it auto detects what you are playing and will do a blinding job on Pro Logic with your Nicam Video's
Plug in your Digital Output from your DVD player (both 5.1 AND DTS...awesome compatability from this system) and it decodes the lot. It lights up the Centre Channel lights to tell you what's available.....AND IT SOUNDS AWESOME.
This is something which I thought I would buy and then upgrade from, but one year later and it still does the job to 101% of my hopes.
As an aside, music is quite nice too....forget all 5 speakers, just use it in stereo mode.....those satellites are really incredible.OK its not quite as good a two big floor standers and a seperate amp, but it is the basis for my WHOLE music and ENTERTAINMENT system now....
A good system from top to bottom. I am tepted to dismantle the centre channel, and find a better speaker from somewhere (maybe a car high grade car speaker) but in the mean time, I just knock it up a notch over the others.
Please be aware my 9/10 rating is only because of the centre channel and IT STILL KILLS A STANDARD TV 5.1 SYSTEM BUILT INTO A TV STONE DEAD.
I give it a 9/10 for Value because I use it for music AND videos AND DVD's......but I realise its a fair bit of dough in comparison to other systems, but if you can save a bit more money then do...it's a blinder!

The Videologic Digitheater Dts Cost Me £370
The Videologic Digitheater DTS cost me £370 from dvdworld,
A truly outstanding purchase which brings a whole new outlook to movies.
So easy to setup, nice looks but overall it's the performance that stands out.
There are 11 lights on the volume display which go out after a few seconds of adjusting the volume and i set it to volume 8 to test it with these discs,
castaway: aircraft explosion scene DTS
saving private ryan: omaha beach DTS
daylight: tunnel explosion DTS
die hard: chair bomb DTS
jurassic park: T.rex entry DTS
matrix: lobby scene DD5.1
These are all super loud scenes which should surely find out a £370 all in one so called budget system. Well it handled them all with such ease and clarity, i couldn't listen to a whole movie at this volume as i don't want to go deaf but the system was still so clear, no rattles or distortion from the speakers. The only bit of distortion you will get is if you have a scene with super low bass frequency at high volume and with your ear attatched to the sub and even then it's minimal. But you dont listen to movies with your ear on the sub do you, and from your chair you will hear no distortion whatsoever no matter what (I am being very harsh even mentioning this unless you have your movies on with your ear on the sub and don't watch the picture). Very clear, superb seperation from all speakers and a knock out performance.
You can tell a cheapish system as, when it's too loud, all becomes 1 big noise but with digitheatre it was all under control.
I have compared many dvd's on DD5.1 against DTS and i personally prefer DTS, but here you get them both and pro logic.
Tons of customers reviews are all over the web with great response and many awards were given to this system so i really do recommend purchasing one. I reckon you would have to pay a minimum of at least £1000 for separates to make any sort of impact on its performance.
If you can, take 1 of the dvd's above to a dealer and ask for a demo, oh and take your cash as well cause you WILL want to part with it.
Of course high end hi-fi seperates will beat it but unless you're an audiophile who demands the best then don't bother wasting a £1000 or more when you can get this superb system for £370.

Having Read Lots Of Reviews (all Of Which Have Bee
Having read lots of reviews (all of which have been good to excellent) and after an audition of the Videologic Digitheatre DTS system, I decided to take the plunge into home cinema (I had originally looked at separates, however my budget did not allow in the end). Any reservations I may of had about this system have been totally obliterated by the fantastic cinema effects it produces. OK, it may not have the sound quality of hifi separates, but as a complete all-in-one package, for the money, it comes pretty close (closer than I would have imagined). Everything you need to set the system up is supplied (apart from wall mounting brackets which would have been useful) and it was up and running in about 20 minutes. I use it in a room of about 10' x 10' but it would be perfectly at home in one twice that size (as long as you don't expect ear drum shattering volume). The overall field of sound combined with the fantastic effects steering and rumbling bass really do provide the 'cinema' feel (music isn't quite as good, but is at least listenable - I have actually partnered the system with my Playstation 2 which is not the best quality sound source around but gives me everything I need). I have only had the pleasure of ownership for a week (although in this time it has had a lot of use!) but would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone looking for an out of the box solution to their surround sound blues. Put it this way, when I auditioned the system originally, I thought it was the equal of a Bose/Denon partnership, which cost 4 times the amount I paid for the Digitheatre DTS. Now that's value. Three cheers for Videologic!. If you've never heard a surround system or have listened through only your television speakers up until now, you will be blown away!
I purchased the same system over a year ago and totally agree that it's the best purchase I have ever made. The only thing that is starting to now show is that the bass can't handle loud movies or music.
Very useful to see a comparison to a semi-specific separates home hifi setup. Also really helps to see the room volume and estimate of performance in a larger room.
Thanks for the review, but you forgot the most important thing. HOW MUCH!!!!
I forget !
