I was given the Jeep Compass 2011 model as a loan car while the wheel studs of my car was being sorted out.
I had the car for a total of 7 days during which I drove 550 miles, 80% on the motorway.
Performance: The vehicle is quick and the auto gear is also very smooth considering its size.I also realised that it handled like a car around roundabouts and corners but noteworthy is the vehicle’s centre of gravity which seems high and there is always this feeling that it may roll over......even when not cornering at speed.
The fuel consumption is very poor with this petrol engine. I was getting about 29mpg doing 70 mph and became a bit frustrated as this does not match the manufacturer claimed mpg
Practicality: The interior of the vehicle seem smaller (compact) and even my daughter (12 year old) who has developed a thing for cars commented from the back seat“ the interior of this car does not look modern and is not comfortable”. Truly, the interior is very plasticky and the size of the boot with seats up is not impressive.
The steering mounted controls for the entertainment system is very easy to manage once the driver gets used to them
Reliability : I did not own the car long enough to judge this.
Value for money : With prices starting at £17,000 and poor fuel consumption, this vehicle is poor value for money considering the plasticky interior and poor interior room space.
