Samsung LA40A650

I purchased this TV over a year ago, and I really should have reviewed it sooner, but better late than never.

Firstly, being a Samsung, it has a superb 100Hz Motion Plus display, the colours are crisp and deep, the contrast is a high standard (50,000:1). It has an Ultra Clear Panel, which eliminates ambient glare, and makes the image more vivid. And believe me it does, I use it to watch Blu Ray, Laptop at 1080p, Xbox 360 and all of them look stunning... even when the sun is blazing through the window, the brightness is more than enough to combat the light.

I never really use the speakers as I use surround sound, but when I do, it delivers sound with clarity, full acoustic range and even the bass is fairly prominent.

Connectivity was one of the main reasons I chose this model. it has 4 hdmi ports, with 1 dedicated to PC, ensuring against dvi to hdmi conversion is handled correctly. it has a vga port twinned with audio in, multiple scarts (for those still using them) avi in and out, digital optical audio out, Wise Link (USB2.0) for connecting memory sticks with photos etc, Component(Y/Pb/Pr, hd signal) and headphones. As you can see it is fully catered for every eventuality, and probably more, I haven't used all the ports, and I use a lot of stuff!

I love the touch sensitive buttons at the front, they are so sweet... just brush your finger across the area and a subtle beep tells you got it, very nice.

And how does the whole thing look? I looks so good. The red hue on the shell looks so classy, it conveys a value much greater than it actually costs... I have it on the wall and it makes my place look superb.

I purchased this for £800 and it was money well spent, unless I have a sudden desire to get a super thin led TV, I see this one lasting me a good while yet. Perfect!
