No Recomend Hungarian Airlines
i booked fly Gadwick to Budapest 2011 dec.i was wondered when i was on board i wanted drink a can of beer or a shot.i got answer sorry sir we have ONLY wine. COME ON!!! So wine have beer NO i think so then i dont travel with Hungarian Malev nowhere....notime... and dont recommend for noooon....body who will travel in Europe or in Hungary from Canada,i travelling lot of times but i dont found any air company around the world who dont services beer just wine on the board.i feel same when i wanna drink tea and say sorry we services just coffe.GOING DONW I dont recommend for nobady + very arrogance staff what i felt.

Malev Ground Handling Staff Steal Your Belongings
I flew from Istanbul to Budapest on 7th of October 2011 with Malev. My flight number was MA0201. My plane landed in Ferenc Liszt airport at 18.35 with 1 hour and 30 minutes delay. Normally, I always carry my money with me but that day, I put my money to a small hand bag of mine and I put my hand bag to my luggage. And I had 750 USD in it. After the plane landed, I waited more than usual to get my luggage back. I got my luggage back at around 19.15 or I should say between 19.00 - 19.30. When I got my luggage back,I wanted to exchange some money and I opened my luggage and I realized that my luggage was opened (it also had a small lock) and my hand bag that was in my luggage was searched and my 750 USD was stolen. Then I immediately report it to the police in the airport and I told the officer everything and signed papers. Police told me that it often happens. It's been a week and I still have not heard from the police. And I do not have much hope.
I contacted Malev and got a response that they have no liability regrading my issue. I pay money to fly with them and give my luggage to them, they do not take care of it and their ground handling staff with the help of airport staff who are is stealing my money from my luggage. Unbelivable !

One Of The Most Luxurious Seats For Economy Class
One of the most luxurious seats for economy class I have ever used Food and service very good. The only downside was our hold luggage was left in Amsterdam which was not Malev's fault but I wonder if cabin crew do check that all bags have been loaded as on this particuilar flight a number of bags were left behind and were flown on a later plane then delivered to the appropriate hotels.

Because Of My Work, I Have Flew Several Times With
Because of my work, I have flew several times with Malev which - comparing to other European airlines (Austrian Airlines, Blue1, Finnair, Lufthansa, SAS, TAP Portugal, WizzAir)- proved to be as good as all the others. Malev's fleet is quite young and planes are generally in a good shape according the technical raports I have seen. All of my Malev filghts were always on time (a couple of times even 15-25min ahead from schedule!). They also have never lost my bag.
Actually, loosing a bag or being late is very rarely a fault of the airline, because the bags can be lost only at the airport (loosing during the flight is very rare :)) and the responsibility for that is on the airport service, not the airline. Being late is usually caused by the airport traffic control, airport service, other countries air traffic controls or the weather. Sometimes other passangers delay the filght being late from the go-to-gate call.
The cabin crew on Malev seemed to be well trained so are the pilots. Once I even had a situation on a Malev flight when we could not land to our destination because of a heavy storm. Afterwards I heard that many other planes were turning away to other cities and the passangers had to spend the night there. We were circuling above our destination (and above the strom) in a safe altitude for 1,5 hours and when the pilots got the clearence, they landed the plane very nicely even there still was a bit of wind. We were two hours late, the other ones one day late. Everybody said onboard that the pilots did a damn good job and they clearly knew what they were doing and same came to the cabin crew.
In a major picture I can't come up with any issue of complain about Malev. It has always offered me the same quality as the other mentioned airlines.

We Flew From Gatwick To Varna Via Budapest, We Wer
We flew from Gatwick to Varna via Budapest, we were a little apprehensive to fly with Malev as we have never flown with them before. Pleasantly surprise! The plane was on time, the time between interconnecting flights was 45 min, just perfect.
The staff was pleasant, attentive, the seats comfortable (even for a tall person like me 6'2") with enough leg room and most important - the planes were clean.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely fly with Malev again.

I Have Traveled Quite A Few Times With Malev And H
I have traveled quite a few times with Malev and have noticed that the level of service is lacking compared to other airlines from the region (for instance CSA, the Czech alternative, which is superb, even in economy). My last trip, literally, ever, on Malev was the absolute worst on any airline ever. This happened during the volcanic eruption which explains why the plane did not leave, but that's not what's wrong with Malev. What's wrong is that they make promises they don't intent to keep and break the law.
I was supposed to transfer in Budapest, but only the inbound flight was flown. Knowing about the problems in air travel at the time, I specifically asked the personnel of Malev if they would provide accommodation and reroute me in case there was no connecting flight. They said they would, this is also their legal obligation in the EU. Of course they didn't. Instead I was thrown out into the night of Eastern Europe with no local money and no reservations on any form of transport or to a hotel. All attempts to contact Malev were futile, they would not answer phones, and - would you believe! - they have no offices to visit. Anywhere. At all.
To anyone considering travelling Malev: I would not risk it. Pay the little extra of 20 or so euros to get the next best offer. It's worth it if something goes wrong. You'll want an airline that abides by the law.

The Fligth Was Delyed For 1 Hour, So That We Were
The fligth was delyed for 1 hour, so that we were late for the next flight to. We stayed in the hotel and next day flyed home.
The staff was horrible no even a hint of smile. I was flying with my 1 year old baby and when I asked a glass of water for him she looked at me with displeased face. On the other hand they suggested one sandwish for my son.
Anyway I will try not to fly with Malev any more.

I Had A Scheduled Flight With My Service Dog. I Ca
I had a scheduled flight with my service dog. I called the airline to confirm I will be traveling with my service dog and request if I need to bring any specific documentation. They told me that it is already indicated on my file and I do not need to bring any specific documentation. Evening of flight, I took a 50 Euro cab to the airport.
I was turned away at check in because they told me my service dog wasn't confirmed and that I needed documentation which I didn't bring as advised by one of the representatives in Belgium (I mean India). I rescheduled the flight for the morning in which I would return with the documentation. Before leaving, I informed the airline of my disability and documentation to make sure I would not be turned away the following morning. I was I took another 50 Euro cab back to my apt.
I took another 50 Euro taxi ride back to airport with documentation in hand. Note that I have flown with my dog as a service dog in cabin on many transatlantic flights (8+ hours). Also note this is not a Golden Retriever I am talking about, it is a 10 Kilo Therapy trained and certified French Bulldog. I provide the documentation as requested and I am refused again. The people representing Malev at the counter are very rude and nasty people. They don't care and literally made me cry.
I took another 50 Euro taxi ride back to my apt and will now have to spend my anniversary with my husband apart.
I can't comment on the flight, I never got on the flight.

They Serve Pretty Fresh Food. Malev Hungarian Airl
They serve pretty fresh food. MALEV Hungarian airlines are cheap and good airline to travel with. Not enough leg room in my opinion.
