I bought this one used last week. It had 72,000 kilometers (about 45,000 miles), automatic and is very fast--though I'll never find out how fast. If this car turns out to be quality, I'll keep it ten years at least because it has the makings of a classic, in my opinion. The brakes are currently warped and shake horribly. I won't really know how good this car is till I get new brakes and tires, which I'm doing on the weekend.

What An Excellent Car For £800 + £57.5

What an excellent car for £800 + £57.50 for a good valet + £36 to replace the wiper blades. Performance is excellent for the car's size although traction control would be nice as the front wheels do spin quite easily. Handling and ride are very good although the seats could be better at supporting your upper body when cornering. It's still a shock to find that all the electric bits still work and that nothing has fallen off after 2 years of Jaguar driving. A proper replacement for the XJR despite the rather anonymous looks - just as well in view of the state of my driving licence.

I'm The Proud Owner Of A 2002 Maxima Se 6speed. It

I'm the proud owner of a 2002 Maxima SE 6Speed. It came with 17" wheels, HID headlamps, steering wheel mounted audio controls, 255hp 3.5 liter V6 and much more. It has flagship feel. All after a month of test drivin Saab 9-3, Audi A4,

BMW 325, I made the best choice by saving myself more than $10K and getting a better performing automobile with a better history of reliability.

I got the limited slip differential and the traction control but I never use it, only in the snow. I have the car stock and have added the following cars to my kill list: Acura TL typeS(close), Grand Prix GTP(not even close), Mustang GT (close because it was automatic), Audi A6 2.7T (neck to neck but it has twin-turbos, and a BMW 330i. In Englishtown, NJ hit the quarter mile time in 14.49sec at 96.8mph !!Stock!! Enuff said

The Nissan Maxima Se Is An Awesome Car. It Gives M

The Nissan Maxima SE is an awesome car. It gives me satisfaction and pride just like my 22 year old datsun 810 maxima diesel that still lives. I retired it and stuck it in my garage - 286,000 miles no engine or transmission work. I gave it a rest and restored the entire car to like-new condition. I have a 2001 mercedes e55 amg and the emotions are pretty much identical. There is no car that can come close to the 2003 Nissan Maxima in reliablity, performance and quality for the money. Gotta say I'm hooked on that Maxima feeling.

I Bought A Sterling Mist 2002 Nissan Maxima Se 6-s

I bought a Sterling Mist 2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6-speed manual about 2 weeks ago and I absolutely love the car so far! It is an ideal car for people who are looking for a practical/reliable family car that borders on luxurious, while at the same time providing performance that makes most other cars on the road envious. On the highway, while traveling at 140KM/h (85MPH), I was still getting gas mileage of 35MPG with a comfortable ride, and the 6-disc CD changer is a joy. One of my only complaints so far is with the manual transmission, I am finding the shift between gears to be really notchy and I am also finding when I am accelerating quickly that it is very difficult to shift smoothly. One other thing too is that I have only owned the car for a couple of weeks and have discovered 3 or 4 fairly significant paint chips already. I decided not to get the additional paint protector when I bought it and now I am beginning to regret it. Hopefully this is just bad luck and not a continuing trend. One other small complaint I have is that I find the gas pedal and brake pedal to be too close together for someone with big feet like me.

With regards to the 35mpg, I was looking at the trip computer at the time I wrote the review. I have since discovered that it is consistently 5mpg off. Also, keep in mind that I am from Canada so I am talking about a different sized gallon than you. On the highway, travelling at about 110 km/h, I can get close to 35MPG (30USMPG). Once I start travelling faster than this, the mileage drops significantly.

Here are some other things I have discovered about the car in the first 18 months of ownership:

- The paint chip problem has continued and I now have paint that looks 10 years old instead of 2 years old. Bottom line, the paint on this car sucks.

- My left side stereo speakers are kicking in and out when playing CD's. This is a common problem on 2K2 maximas.

- The stock tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE92's) are useless and truly a road hazard.

- The 6-spd is still a challenge to shift smoothly. This is after 50,000 km on the car and 10 years experience with manual transmissions.

- I still love this car.

How do you figure 35MPG? Are you looking at the totally useless trip computer?

I get 25 on my 2003 6 speed on hwy.

I have to agree with your assessment of the paint and the brake and gas pedal. I have several paint chips in a few weeks and my big feet hit that brake alot when going for the gas pedal.

This Nissan 2002 Maxima Se Car Is Amazing Inside-o

This Nissan 2002 Maxima SE car is amazing inside-out. With a realistic price sticker, it provides much more than toyota, honda, and any domestic car for that matter. Performance is the key benefit. With the lowest buck/performance ratio out of imports, this car deserves the right to be called the car of the year, not its sister - Altima. Torque is so abundant on the Maxima, that it becomes a drawback. 0 - 60 is about 8 seconds, 1 of which is spent on speening in place, and smoking tires...

Ugh... 8 sec 0 to 60 are you kidding. My 2001 Maxima kills 8 seconds let alone the 2002 with the 3.5. And I have hanged with a WRX on the highway nose to nose. Let alone I have more room better ride quality and in my opinion a better looking car.

dlamere

I have a 2003 Maxima SE Titanium Edition with the 6spd. manual trans, and I absolutely love it. I test drove the WRX, don't get me wrong, it's a great car to drive once in a while. It however, comes with about as many options as a KIA Sofia! No sunroof, single CD, no leather, no thank you!! I priced it out too, and my FULLY loaded Maxima was less than the WRX with half the options.I've raced a WRX that had work done (exhaust, chip, intake, suspension, etc.) I wasn't impressed! There is no better car for the money than a Maxima, and this is coming from some one who swore he would never own a Japanese Sports car. My girlfriend has a 2003 Mercedes SLK 320 (3.2 litre V6), and it can't keep up with the Maxima, handling...well that's a different story!! Although I'm not a fan of the new body style that they just came out with, find a used 2002/2003 6 spd, and buy it! You'll thank me!!

mlsw1.

this car is very true. sports cars such as wrx and lancer evo's may have better performance, but lacks a lot of luxury and comfortable options. a wrx is a car to take to take to the track and race, whilst the maxima is a car that can haul butt really well (for a non sports car) and take u there comfortably in nice LEATHER chairs and POWER SEATS and MUCH ROOM and A RIDE THAT DOESNT SHAKE THE WHOLE CAR FROM EVERY PEBBLE ON THE ROAD. (i know its a run-on sentence, didnt feel like it mattered). this car is absolutely the best car for the price for a 4 door sedan.

mlsw1.

this article is not accurate. There are lots of other cars out there that offer more performance for the money. Take for example the subaru WRX. It would eat this car alive in the 0-60 test, while it costs less.
