Seat Altea 2.0 FSi

The best car buy I have done in many years. It is comfortable, spacious with loads of gismo's. It is economical yet sporty. It looks great, feels great and attracts a lot of attention here in South Africa as there are so few of them on the roads. The Audi backup service is fantastic, not that I have needed any roadside assist to date. Services are carried out efficiently and quickly. The best of all was the purchase price!

I am at a loss as to why VW in South Africa has stopped importing these Spanish beauties. They outperform and look far better than most VW's around.

Seat Altea is an excellent allround value for money car

I part ex my Passat 1.9 TDi sport estate for a Vauxhall Astra SRi 1.8 new shape which I found absoulutely rubbish but that's another review. Disheartened that there was not a car out there for me I stumbled upon the Seat Altea 1.9tdi. I looks good, it drives fantastic, I took her over the Brecon Beacons as I took the long way around to get to West Wales and what a drive the only thing I had a complaint about was all the other people on my road, it's not as common as the Astra which I like, very responsive TDi engine, wonderful driving position, gear shift is smooth. Stereo is nice and loud no need to go over 10 unless you want your ears to bleed, boot space is good with its multi layer compartment. The dash is easy to use close at hand controls, stereo contols on the steering wheel and looks good, overall the car is good looking, has an exspensive feel, great quality throughout, solid build and really cool wing mirrors that electronically fold away. So if your looking for a good quality car, that has an expensive feel, sporty look and not every Tom Dick and Harry has one, then this car is for you and if your still not convinced get to your local local dealer and check it out for yourself you wont be disappointed, unless your a very unlucky one in 10 million to get a fluke that may go wrong but hey lets be honest even Aston Martins has gone wrong in their first year for some owners but at least your not driving an Astra.

I purchased a SEAT Altea 2.0 FSi in Nov 2004, and I have never had such an unreliable car. In 15 months it has been back to the dealer at least 16 times. The car has suffered a number of engine problems all related to water dripping onto the cylinder head which then shorted the coil pach and caused a misfire. The car has also suffered numerous water leaks into the drivers and passanger footwells. To date this problem has yet to be fixed.
