Good Points: I don't think there are any from reading the reviews. If I'd been to this site beforehand then I would not have bought the product.
Bad Points: Everything, I tried to claim for goods taken from my suitcase between Las Palmas and Luton. Between the check in desk and the baggage reclaim.
General comments: I was told that as my suitcase had been out of sight then I had no claim. I could only claim whilst it was in my sight. Who is going to take stuff from the case while you have it in your sight!

I was booked to go to America last July, unfortunatly the day before my flight, my mother sadly passed away. After the inital shock my husband tried to claim from Tesco Travel Insurance on my behalf the flight, which was I though covered by my policy. I was told to forward a copy of the death certificate, which I did, and was then informed that they needed permission to access my mothers doctors records! They said that if she was ill prior to me booking a flight then the policy was null and void ...

Summary: Making a claim from Tesco Travel Insurance was like getting in the boxing ring with Mike Tyson, it felt like Tesco made every effort to duck and dive out of any payment.
My experience was very difficult, very slow and made me regret taking out a cheap policy.
From the start of claim it took 5 months to receive a payout. I had about 15 phone conversations and multiple letters toing and throing over nit picking queries from Tesco. Final payout was around half of the original claim, ...

I ordered Tesco Travel Insurance for a recent trip to Canada.
It was all a bit last minute so ordered only the day before. I was told I would receive a confirmation email confirming the policy but this never arrived.
Upon arriving back in Heathrow my flight was cancelled due to snow. I was on Standby for the rest of the day until the Airline said I would have to get the first flight in the morning. I quickly reviewed the policy document on the Tesco Website and was comfortable this would cover t ...

Made a travel claim after being mugged in Tenerife and the whole process took five months of sending receipts, quotes , letters and telephone calls. A total and utter disgrace too much to write down i would be here all day. I would advise anyone against taking out a policy with Tesco, i choose them as they were one of the more expensive quotes and therefore expected a good policy. How wrong I was. I will never use Tesco insurance for anything again no matter how cheap.

Not a great deal of money involved, but an annoying lack of comprehension. We were traveling with a ferry company departing from Dover at 8a.m. After 3/4 hour the ferry stopped at sea. The captain announced that their had been an engine failure. We bobbed about for several hours before being told we would have to return to Dover! At 3PM we were back in Dover with no ferry until the following day. We stayed at a b&b until the following day. When I tried to make a claim I was told that if the bo ...

We had to cancel our holiday two days before we were due to go to Turkey July 2007, due to my husband being rushed into hospital, where one of the male nurses told us if we had gone away he would have lost his leg due to a severe infection. They were very sympathetic and said that they would send the paperwork on for us to fill in.
Since then we have had nothing but a roundabout.
After many forms and phone calls, we finally seemed to be getting somewhere after we spoke to a woman in December 2 ...

My wife and I took out a Tesco Annual Travel Insurance policy in May of last year, knowing that we would be going on approx. 3 holidays through the following year. On 30th November we were due to go on a 7 day Caribbean cruise with my sister &brother in law, having paid the remaining £2500 balance of the cruise during the latter part of September. Unfortunately, my sister in law, became very ill and after suddenly being admitted to hospital passed away 3 weeks later, only a week before o ...

We spoke to the bank covering our home contents insurance, Lloyds and had a much more mature and reasonable reaction from someone who maybe understood that being robbed can also be emotionally upsetting; and also that informing the Italian police from 40, 000 feet presented some difficulties.
I would very much keep clear of Tesco in future and would recommend them to no one.

Not worth the paper it was written on. We tried to make a claim and found that no valuable items are covered unless they are with you. If they are locked in the boot of your car they are not covered. If they are locked in your apartment they are not covered. We also had two coats stolen, combined value £220.00. They were both over a year old. Tesco told us that they would only be covered if we had proof of ownership!

They do everything, under the sun, not to give you what you claim.
It is too expensive, they offer very poor service and have an unhelpful claim centre.
The biggest mistake is to buy travel insurance in a hurry without reading the reviews.
My luggage was broken and dented within a week of calling to claim, they said you should have a report from the airport as soon as you arrived to UK, then they said you should have claimed within 24 hours.
After a long flight and waiting at two airports, ...

We purchased travel insurance from Tesco. This was a single policy for a family. We had to claim for lost belongings upon our return from holiday. We were interrogated, and we felt, after each telephone conversation with them that we were committing an act of fraud. We had to send them our household insurance details in case we were career claimants! We would not mind, but the claim was for a very small amount, and we only continued fighting them out of principle we were not letting them trea ...

The cover is minimal. The call centre staff work at a snail like pace.
I have still not been paid out for my baggage going to Hong Kong instead of Rhodes. Tesco Travel Insurance might pay me £60 for emergency clothes, but I have no confidence in them.
They have had the last penny off me, so they are the losers.

Don't be fooled by the reasonable price of Tesco Travel Insurance, as it is not worth having the policy when they won't pay out! With a claim of about £100 pounds, they kept finding little pieces they wouldn't pay for, and when you provide the information they ask for, they change their requirements again.
Please note the good reviews have been made by people about the ease of purchase and price of Tesco Travel Insurance insurance, but this is irrelevant if they do not deliver when it ...

I was due to travel to Goa in Dec 2005. In Oct 2005 I found out I was pregnant. I called to cancel as my doctor had advised against having the required innoculations until I was 3m+, this was after our date of travel. Tesco Travel Insurance declined the claim as they said pregnancy was not a medical condition. Agreed, but they were saying I should travel to Goa without the required innoculations or risk a miscarriage by having the innoculations. It took 3 months and letters t various regulatory ...

Tesco Travel Insurance have surly, rude customer service staff. Extremely slow claims service (3 weeks to get a claim form, umpteen phone calls to get any action, hours wasted whilst put on hold, over 3 months to get a result after much nagging and then the result was not what was promised). Totally unsympathetic to the customer.

I recently claimed for a cancellation of our rearranged Honeymoon to Sandals. We were unable to travel due to my father-in-law being diagnosed with cancer 3 days before we were due to travel. Tesco will not pay, because as the policy started on the day we were due to travel, they said we already knew about the illness before the policy started, so would not be covered, even though we booked the policy 2 months prior to this.
This was the final of several reasons given for not paying out aroun ...

I was Robbed at the end of November 2004 in Spain. Tesco Travel Insurance disputed that one member of our party of three was not even insured because the policy was not bought on her loyalty card, after letters to Tesco Head office this matter was resolved.
Tesco wrote to us at the end of February 2005 to tell us that in order to proceed with the claim they needed proof on two stolen items, which I duly supplied. After 4 weeks or more I telephoned again to ask how the claim was proceeding - a ...
