Parkdean Holidays, West Bay Holiday Park

We stayed here on Monday 9th may for 4 nights. On arrival our caravan was very clean and comfortably furnished. Just one criticism however, the space around the bed in the main bedroom is very very limited. We had to walk sideways and one of us had to get dressed and undressed in the hallway.

Was made very clear to us that parking next to the caravan was not suitable if grass only. Very clear in writing on the reception desk and re-iterated verbally on booking in.

The only hard parking was in front of the childrens playground near the club for the van we stayed in. This was used by staff and visiting artists reducing the small amount of places to park.

So against advice we had no choice but to park on grass which when wet and as explained to us was unsuitable for a car. As no car parking was allowed next to the van when we were able to park nearby the area between our caravan and the next one became a thoroughfare for families with children visiting the playground, not very private.

Having paid £630 for one week we felt this was unacceptable as there was ample room to have suitable parking next to the caravan.

The club was loud and glad we did not go in as what we could hear outside was bad enough - sounded awful.

Reception staff seemed friendly but the restaurant staff were more interested in their visits of friends than making the customer welcome.

just got back from the easter break on the camping site. Even though it rained and the storm was awful, i would just like say a big thank you to the wardens and all people concerned on the camping field in helping each other out on Monday morning when trying to get caravans and motorhomes off site, very muddy and wet but the camping spirit was still there...

We have stayed on this site for six years they have put the rates up since last year which to be honest I think that they are kidding themselves the hedges all need trimming the grass needs cut properly behind our caravan it was full of nettles the roads need upgrading the location is fab the static site is well maintained a shame about the touring there is better sites for less money they really need to upgrade the site. I recommend the site to some friends and they said never again.The television reception is non existent no wifi only in the bar If park dean can,t be bothered with the touring park then why have it.

Had never been to West Bay before but would certainly go back .our Caravan was lovely (i think privately owned ),the site was very clean ,the shop well stocked and all staff members were very friendly and helpful enjoyed every thing about West Bay except the weather unfortunatly Parkdean could not any thing about that thinking about booking again for next year.

Firstly our caravan was not of the usual standard we expected. I was advised this was because I booked on line (paying the full price?! The cooker was greasy and very off putting and the twin beds very unsuitable for my 16 year old teenage and elderly mother. The van it's self was brown interior with a damp smell. Obviously we had the lower end of the scale because we have a lap dog. This is unfair. Our dog doesnt climb on furniture or beds yet we are treated like 3rd class citizens.

The evening entertainment was dior, my 16 and 11 year old completely bored with absolutely nothing to entertain them.

Overall I've been put off from ever coming back. I've spent 6 consecutive years travelling around your various sites and have never felt so down and relieved to be going home.

The park is in a wonderful spot by the harbour and if all the staff made a effort I would have scored it 5 stars the café/bar and food is as good or bad as the staff that are working we went on a Tuesday and Friday and the service and food was very good, but give Thursdays a miss unless you want to wait for an hour for your food and like having your used plates left on your table until you get so fed up with the service you leave. Also they suffer badly with Seagulls and leaving dirty plates and food that's been left on the outside tables for long periods does not help, early one evening a family with young children had to leave because of the seagulls coming for the food that hadn't been cleared by the staff. On arrival we noticed that the remote control for the TV had been badly broken so took it to receipt to report it, the member of staff ask we knew how to use it as maybe that was why it didn't work, I suggested she looked at it again as the back had been smashed of and couldn't hold the batteries, she said to leave it with her so we thought that a replacement would be provided so you can imagine our surprise when we return to the caravan later to find that a member of staff had let themselves in and just left the original remote, still not working of course, there seemed little point in complaining again as it's obvious the staff aren't interested in being of help. We will return to West Bay but not to Parkdean.

Arrived with my family 16th August 2014 to be told we weren't expected by a very stressed reception person as we weren't on the computer even though we booked two caravans months ago (costing over two thousand pounds between us)and had rung to check a few things the week before.Eventually my daughter found our names added at the bottom of a printout then a great fuss was made as to why we weren't on the computer( hardly our problem )!One caravan was ready at 4pm the other not til after 5 0 clock then the travel cot had not been delivered the frig had no bars in the door and the freezer didn't work not good value for money One caravan was spotlessly clean the other not and was very dusty and smelt stale bedroom space was very limited compared to our normal experience with these expensive caravans so all in all would not go to this site again though we loved West Bay and the surrounding area Parkdean needs to do better to encourage visitors to return

What did you expect man ??? Parkdean is not really place where I want spend my money, staff is really friendly but too busy because owner of Parkdean do not employee more people just try to kill the staff ;))

I wish i had read these reviews before paying out £400 of our hard earned money to go to Challaborough Bay Pakdean Holiday Park. After a 6hr drive and £115 in petrol we were all looking forward to getting to Challaborough. We arrived and signed in. The reception was very small and very run down. One gentleman was very friendly and happy to help but the receptionist didnt like him butting in very much and a few dirty looks were exchanged. We got up to our caravan which was perched on the steepest of hills but the view was fantastic until we saw the run down heap of a caravan full of rubbish under the decking. We did actually go in and was hit with a strong smell of damp and mould. We explored this tiny space to find a filthy toilet seat, mould behind the toilet and around the shower. The carpets were dirty and old. My daughter burst into tears and said she wasn't staying. We had a quick look around the site and found a building with a handful of amusements in a dirty run down building and a small child soft play area stuck on the end with no supervision anywhere. The pool also was run down and all the staff were in the process of fixing a door between them. The pub was full of drunks young and old.I was verbally abused by one older lady who was off her head. Drunks were in the road causing havoc!The pictures on there site are untrue in every way!!!DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PARK !!! We left after 3 hours and lost all our holiday money. Thats how bad it was. Also the dogs left in the caravans just yap yap yap..........
