Oh Dear, There Are Some Illiterate Morons Leaving

Oh dear, there are some illiterate morons leaving their own 'reviews' of this phone (not: dis fone) and other similar ones. Firstly, can I say that these people might find it useful to learn to read and write before you attempt the stance of a reviewer, let alone attempt to navigate a piece of modern technology.

I will attempt to post a review of the Nokia 1100, based on the facilities I was more than aware it had prior to purchasing it. I mean, why on earth buy a phone, which DOESN'T have a camera, a hi-fi system, or a microwave oven, and then slate it for NOT having them. Only a complete half-wit would buy a phone like this knowing it didn't have these gadgets and then say that it is rubbish because it doesn't have them.

Anyway, whether you are a Luddite, a technophobe, a prudent buyer, someone who values dependability ahead of 'toys' or just someone over 30, the Nokia 1100 will not disappoint.

It is extremely well built, very durable and despite its tiny footprint it is very simple and precise to navigate and has an outstanding battery life if all you do is make calls and answer it when it rings. No, it doesn't have an array of pointless gadgetry and that is why the battery lasts so long, no MP3 and the likes to run it down, so if making and receiving calls is high on your essential requirements of a PHONE, then look no further.

Thankfully, Nokia are more than aware that there is still a large number of consumers who value the basics of a mobile phone and still cater for these people, unlike virtually all of the other manufacturers.

The 1100's are discontinued now, but are still available as new old stock in some places, but they are plentiful in decent used condition and sell for peanuts. A word to the wise though, avoid buying 'generic' replacement batteries from places such as eBay, as they are truly awful and a false economy and I speak from experience having lost my original and bought 2 of them.

Nokia continue to sell basic phones and all seem to be good, but the 1100 is an exceptional phone, despite what the clearly brain dead have said on this forum and has everything a phone should have and nothing that it shouldn't.

Let's Be Clear About This. Phone's Are For Communi

Let's be clear about this. Phone's are for communicating with and should be simple to operate. Having had mobiles for work since 1991 (and I hate them all: "enslaved by technology" and all that) I rate Nokia's. They have a logical menu system and are tough and reliable. If you want a fashion accessory (yawn!) or want to send a picture of your bottom to your many and varied acqaintances then go somewhere else but the neat little Nokia 1100 is the phone user's phone. It's small, inexpensive and you use it to talk to people. Having said that the super bright LED torch and ringtone composer are great little additions....thoroughly recommended!!

Absolutely brilliant phone. Mono screen (easy to see in all light), mono ringtones (louder than poly and nowadays everyone elese has poly so you will always know instantly it's your phone ringing), battery life modern phones could only dream of, great keypad (no awful four-way navi key, so much easier to use), fast menu navigation (no freezing or crashes)... It really is FAR better than current phones, but hey, if you kiddies like your gimmicks then that's what you'll get...

I Have Been Using The Nokia 1100 For 6 Months And

I have been using the Nokia 1100 for 6 months and it fits my needs very well. I am not a fun guy, so I am fond of simple and easy to use phones. It has a bulb light at the end that I find more useful than all the 1.5mb phone cameras in the world. When I wanted to buy a mobile phone a friend of mine recommended it, and I am still satisfied with the choice I made.

The reception on the Nokia 1100 gets bad 1.5 years, often you will be cut off in the middle of conversation even if your located in good reception cover area and full battery.

I Have Been Using This Phone Since 2004. Its A Per

I have been using this phone since 2004. Its a perfect phone for basic users with high affordability. In Pakistan its price is around $55 to $60. Although it looks like an old phone because of its monochrome display and monophonic ring tones. But I am loyal to it because it is highly durable with lowest power consumption as I charge my phone thrice a week.

A feature which I like most in this phone is an inbuilt electric torch (Flashlight) on its head. Its a small LED type bright white light. This Flashlight helps me at night to find my glasses, it helps me to look deep inside the computer casing whenever i am working in my computer lab. Once It helped me find gold earring of my mother which was rolled down to her bed, when i turned my Nokia1100's torch and swept its light across, the earring sparkled in the dark to give me a clue of its presence there.

I would suggest that all mechanics, technicians and people like me who cannot afford to purchase a high end phone like Nokia Nxx and they are into repairing electric equipments should purchase this phone because no one can always carry a torch in his/her pocket, but we are carrying NOKIA 1100 with us.

Besides its torch, long battery life and durability. It has all basic features like:

1. Internal memory to store 50 Contacts and 75 Text messages

2. You can send one message to a group of contacts

3. 6 Profiles to assign ringtones at different volume as per your requirement

4. Alarm Clock, Stop Watch, Countdown Timer and Reminders

5. Games: Snake II and Space impact

6. A Ringtone composer to compose your own ringtone

7. Calculator for basic calculations

Many people dislike Nokia 1100 because of its Rubber Keypad, Its rubber keypad gives a childish look (like a toy), which can stop working after typing few text messages. For those people i have a comment: that "Analysis of My bill statements are telling me that i have sent 6584 messages since December 2004", and after such an intensive usage i am having no problem typing a message with my Nokia1100, except characters written on the keys are removed because of rubbing effect of my fingers, and its no surprise because the same experience i have with my Nokia 6630.

Go! and buy one Nokia 1100 before it goes out of the market.

Excellent review geekagaa. I totally agree with you. I have had my Nokia 1100 mobile phone for about two years I think, with no problems whatsoever. I just came here looking around to see if there were any links, as I want another for my son now! I have tried other phones, but this one is the best for me!

I Had My First Nokia 1100 Stolen But Didn't Hesita

I had my first Nokia 1100 stolen but didn't hesitate to replace with the same. The phone is a good 'no frills' phone which is very user friendly. Battery life is good together with signal strength throughout my area. We have two of these phones in our household. We have a good quality camera if we want photography but don't need it from a phone.

Excellent value, ours both cost less than £20 from Amazon.

This Review Is For A Nokia 1100. The Good P

This review is for a Nokia 1100.

The Good points:

My family has had Nokia's for years and I feel the Nokia range of phones have the best, the most easy to use and most simple mobile phone menu systems. This simple model is no different. I purchased this phone for my wife over a year ago and we have been very impressed with it.

We looked at lots of other mobile phones before buying this one but most of the other makes seem to have poor menu systems. Some also have too many so-called features, are much too large and complicated to use easily. We were looking for a simple, no frills mobile phone and this seems to be the simplest one.

The Nokia 1100 feels comfortingly solid, with a nice wipe clean cover. However you can also get replacement covers in different colours if you fancy a change. It is a fairly small phone but not so small you can not use it or read the keypad numbers.

It's very simple to set-up straight from the box, just pop the Sim card in and its ready to go. It uses the standard Nokia battery charger which makes it very easy to find another charger if you have had a Nokia before. Of course it comes with a brand new charger in the box and an instruction manual (you will not need it).

In the year + my wife has owned it has been 100% reliable, it always has good signal strength on the O2 network and has not dropped any calls at all. The ring tones are loud enough and adjustable with a small number of alternatives.

Phone calls are very easy to make, you can access the phone's address book easily and make calls or just dial the number on the keypad simply press the call button.

The Text editor is also very easy to use, like other Nokia's, and the phone stores incoming texts in a separate folder so it's easy to find the one you want to reply to.

Phone battery life is very, very good because it doesn't have a flashy colour screen. The phone battery lasts for ages, much longer than my Nokia 6230i which is quite good.

The Bad points:

Well I actually struggled to find much to moan about with this phone.

The phone keypad is a bit spongy but you soon get used to it.

If you want a phone that has all the latest features this Nokia 1100 is not the mobile phone for you! But if you want a camera, buy one, if you want an MP3 player buy one! This is a phone, after all.

Conclusion:

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this phone to anyone. If you want a simple to use mobile phone to make phone calls or send text messages, it's the best choice.

The best recommendation I can give the Nokia 1100 is that if I was replacing my own Nokia 6230i, this is phone I would get.

Totally agree. Very good review by the way. I purchased an expensive singing and dancing phone but returned to using my old Nokia 1100. The other is now sat in the drawer, neither singing nor dancing. It ran the battery down too quick!! And it was not user friendly!! This may not look as pretty, but for battery power and ease of use it far surpasses the "pretty" one!!
