I Knew John Seymour When He Visited Iona In The 70
I knew john Seymour when he visited Iona in the 70's our croft, Clachan Corrach! and attempted to change the crofting world! or glean some experience on crofting techniques in respect of one of his initial books on 'self Sufficiency'My opinion is ,after being a crofter on iona and mull, We are all self sufficient to a degree! on this planet, and should we opt out, as I have seen many an individual try to do! we can still retain an element of self sufficiency however, inevitably, we always slip into an 'Easy fix' at Asda! or OBAN!! As already stated,I once lived on a Hebridean croft,on iona, then a farm on the Isle of Mull! one had to be to a 'degree,'self sufficient! But it is not easy, and good luck to those who can achieve it! completely! and remain in the real world! As we get older,we get wiser, and softer,! and more relient on good old 'convenience'Wine making, fudge making, knitting, and skinning sheep ...veg growing, and living in a Wigwam becomes a thing of 'the past' although! I would sincerely love to think that I could still at my age, be a part of it! If john is stilll living like this! then what is the sectet!? Must be eternal life!!... Do contact me john and let me know

A Great Book This Guy (seymour) Has A Real 'can Do
A great book this guy (Seymour) has a real 'can do' attitude - and one grounded in experience. I am not sure what the other reviewer on this page is thinking ... these guys are ideologically opposed to big business/ multinationals ... they have tried to find a way to get back to nature, and to be content with what it offers us - so why would they want to run a multinational?

John Seymour, will Sutherland, The New Complete Sel
John Seymour,Will Sutherland, The New Complete Self-sufficiency offers an intereesting take on running a business.
I'll be honest, I wasn't really convinced by this book, but I'm not a great believer in books like this anyway - if these guys are so darn clever, why aren't they out there running a multinational instead of scribing for relative peanuts??
John Seymour, Will Sutherland or any other Joe Theorist have yet to convince me that reading these books can lead to a successful enterprise.
I rate this a cynical 6 out of 10.
I disagree with this review because...I just think you are missing the point. Success is not always measured in monetary terms. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
