I Bought The Book Since It Was Recommended For My
I bought the book since it was recommended for my MBA course in Strategy and I had one of the authors as teacher.
Highly unfortunately, the author was fuzzy in delivering the contents and the applicability of the material was low. Instead, I used lecture notes from peers having other lecturers.
As a defence for the author, I must add that I did not spend enough time on going through the book once I found it unrewarding.

Gerry Johnson, kevan Scholes, Exploring Corporate S
Gerry Johnson,Kevan Scholes, Exploring Corporate Strategy: Text and Cases was a core text for a module on Applied Strategic Management for my degree. The text book covers a vast array of strategy related issues, is well written, very detailed and has lots of helpful charts. It interestingly takes the approach that strategy can be viewed through different lenses. The most useful aspect of the book however was that it contained a large number of case studies together with guidelines on how to tackle these case studies and suggestions as to which analysis techniques should be used. Each analysis technique is covered in the book. My copy, for which I paid £39 (rather expensive, but this is a big book) is now quite worn and full of highlighted pages. Questions at the end of each chapter encourage discussion and areas for possible further reading. This is definitely the best strategy book around, which is why so many Universities use it a core text. This is the first text book that I've read from cover to cover and quite enjoyed. Highly recommended.
This review is likely written by the publisher. For reference, see Int. Journal of Business Science and Applied Management, Volume 4, Issue 1, 2009
This highly positive review also talks about seeing strategy through different lenses.
