Avoid Buying From Mobilityequipment.co.uk. They
Avoid buying from mobilityequipment.co.uk. THEY ARE THE PITS !!
Avoid this firm at all costs.
Having agreed and paid a price of £499 for a very popular and reknowned Pride Elite Traveller 4 scooter, we made the grave mistake of asking if this was a good buy, whereupon we were offered AN UPGRADE WHICH WAS AN ECO 4 valued at £695. We did not smell a rat as the Go Go Elite is priced at the same locally.
They were to phone to advise when the scooter would be delivered and confirm the brand name.THEY NEVER PHONED. Next we knew a van pulled up outside our home and we were pretty furious to unpack some non-descript brand called KYMCO, which has ancient nuts and screws on it, and does not show on any search engine. The scooter looks old-fashioned and clumsy and we have only just taken delivery an hour ago. Will report back on it's performance later.
Needless-to-say, this website have obviously been down this road before and had all sorts of reasons why we could do return it to PLYMOUTH. Then we were told it would cost £91 to send it back.
I'm back to update you all on the horror of buying a Pride Elite scooter
from Mobilityequipment.co.uk.
Immediately after warning mobilityequipment.co.uk that we would take court action against them, we received a call from a man who said he was the new director of the company. He offered a replacement scooter or a refund....no prizes for guessing which option we choose.!! thankfully we had a full refund within 3 or 4 days of his call.
We then chased our credit card provider for the out-of-pocket expenses, on the basis that they were totally incompetent, and 3 weeks later they refunded our expenses.
It had taken almost a year to get our money back.
Turned to Ebay, just to see what sort of prices were being asked for a Pride Elite traveller 4 and found quite a few sellers were offering them AT A LOWER PRICE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE ONLINE.
The beauty of Ebay was that we could select a POPULAR seller with a high 'sellers' score', a shop that we could visit for a trial run and also that we could read every seller's feedback from every customer and speak with them on the phone. We concentrated on 2 sellers within 40 miles of home, so as to be able to collect, and in the end we bought a Pride Elite Traveller 4 PLUS, a sturdier scooter, for the price of our original preference.
We not only got FREE home repairs during the life of the 1 year warranty but also free insurance for 6 mths.
The moral of my story: please don't buy from an internet firm who has NO CUSTOMER FEEDBACK. Buy locally, PERHAPS VIA EBAY, chose a reputable, well-established brand and take a test drive.
pity it took us a whole year to learn that !!!!!!!
mobilityequipment.co.uk have NEVER sent any paperwork. All I had was the label on the delivery box not from MOBILITYEQUIPMENT.CO.UK BUT FROM THEIR SISTER COMPANY MORE THAN MOBILITY of the same address.
Luckily I had paid by credit card and since credit card providers are equally liable, I was able to get the full cost of the scooter refunded to my account. The scooter now belongs to my CC company but as soon as it is collected I mean to claim for expenses and stress, first from the CC provider or, failing that, via the Financial Ombudsman Services,(FOS) if necessary.
I need to put this bad experience in a more prominent online position, to attract other customers who have an issue with either mobilityequipment.co.uk or More Than Mobility, of Plymouth, Devon. As you can see, rogue firms get off scot-free. It is our duty to warn other disabled people of our experinces with this firm.
I found this review very helpful because.I have also had same problem.. i ordered Pride mobility scooter and order was accepted. Got a phone call back a little later to say the scooter had been damaged but as gesture of good will they woukd upgrade and send a better scooter. I said I would like to think about it and was told no worries as I had missed despatch for that day. After speaking to my husband we decided we would prefer the Pride so rang back to tell them this - told too late the other replacement had gone out so we would have to pay £65 to cancell. We finally agreed to this and waited for refund. We have not had any money back and today was told by TNT that a scooter had been despatched yesterday (5 days after cancelling). Told TNT of this companies tactics and they are returning this for us. Have put a stop on credit card and been onto Trading Standards. Will let you know if we get money back.. BUT Please Please do not order anything from this company. I wish I had read about your experience first.

I Would Advise Anyone Who Is In Need Of A Scooter
I would advise anyone who is in need of a scooter to avoid mobility one at all costs. After ordering and paying for my scooter it arrived promptly, no problems there. Then I noticed that the warning lights kept flashing, apparently whilst this is going on the thing wont work. Well with us whatever we did to rectify this was all to no avail. So what would you do? Yes we called Mobility one, I stated my rights as a consumer to him, which he took umbrage to and said he would arrange for a replacement to be sent. All fine he kept his word and an engineer turned up two days later with a replacement, great I thought. He ran over the procedures with us which turned out to be of great help. After he left literally five minutes afterwards, we received a call. By the way he said the engineer has just called me to say the scooter wasn't faulty after all and I was to expect to receive an invoice for the engineer, I then told him that we needed a machine that we could rely on as my poor Wife who suffers with SP MS can hardly walk at the moment and as we were going away on holiday we didn't want to be stuck with a machine that didn't work and would have left my wife stuck. He conveniently over looked my comments and in his gruff way repeated that we will have to pay for the engineer. Considering the type of people who need these machines ie the elderly and the disabled, his attitude and lack of sensitivity would suggest he is not the type to be helping people who are infirm and especially carers who have to carry a lot of responsibility and are under a great deal of stress. To some up, I would advise people to go to their local mobility centre and avoid this company.
