WARNING - SLIGHT OF HAND
I’ll run through my scenario, I hired a car from Maggiore in Marco Polo airport.
When I took out the car I was informed by the customer service person, that if I notice any more damage to the car, just to point it out when I return it.
Wow, how chill I thought. On the first night I noticed the mechanical lock on the drivers side was missing (as in you could insert any key or a stick into it) no bother I’ll let them know when I’m back as I was told.
Anyway - fast forward to the return. Took the car to the return bay, full of fuel, dropped the keys at the desk and the chap came out to have a look at it.
Straight away he made B line to the lock, stating ‘new damage’ (tbh English wasn’t his first language but it’s better than my Italian for sure).
So after several minutes of arguing with him, stating what I had been told by customer service when I took it out he went to the front desk and argued with a different customer service agent.
This agent then signed my bit of paper saying I wouldn’t be charged for the damage.
I then took this to the chap at the return bay, who was visibly upset, threw his phone and flapped his arms.
Who then took me back to the customer service desk and argued some more.
The customer service agent, came out again and explained I WOULD NOT BE CHARGED for the lock excellent I thought.
He then produced the paperwork, folded in the 4 and highlighted the bit that said costs were £0.00 and I stupidly signed.
A few days later I check my account - I have been charged £250.
I dug out the paperwork, and he had simply folded the bit with the charges to the rear and shown me some other section like extra costs to the agreement.
so in simple terms, they know there’s damage on the vehicles from pervious rentals and they don’t repair it or mark it up on the paperwork.
They deliberately conceal information and mislead you about their policies.
All so they can charge any renters extra.
So please if using them, take a walk around VIDEO of the whole car.
UNFOLD all paperwork and be prepared to argue.
There’s a reason the all have bristling or Rolex watches!!

Just Avoid Them!
It was extremely unpleasant experience. We took a car from them twice during the vacation. During the second time, the car was returned at night to the airport. Before we made a video of the car and checked all. To our great surprise, they sent us a letter that they found a new damage. They charge 400 euro per scratch - it is just unbelievable. We were extremely lucky that we made a full protection with other company and now have made a claim to return our money. But if you do not make full protection, just try to avoid them!

If you don't buy full protection insurance from Maggiore(25 euro per day), you probably will pay a lot of money.
After all the cheap rent can be very expensive.
I rented car from Magiore 2 times during the last vacation, and they found some scratches each time. Repair cost more than 400 euro each time.

They Give You The Car With Dust And When You Give
They give you the car with dust and when you give it back they find in 1 min 2 very very fine scrathches on the car that cost 300€ euro( wthich is the guarantee they charge you when you take the car that appear nowhere when you book the car and pay per day)- that scarthches where there for sure

Avoid This Very Bad Company
I rented a car from Maggiore in Naples airport and returned it in the same state as I took it. I was told that a scratch on the wheel was new which was not possible and not true. I disagreed and left. They charged my card €273 for a small scratch that was in the car already. I tried to call them and email them to complain but they do not pick up the phone and do not respond to emails. The money was taken by AVIS their parent company. I complained to AVIS and after months of waiting, they said, I need to resolve my problem with Maggiore at Naples Airport, who do not respond.

Disgusting Company!
A absolutely immoral disgusting company to use. I was double charged, once when I hired the car then at the end almost the same amount again. 9 days, over £1000. If I knew that was what I was signing for I would not have signed. This car hire has been more than double of any I have paid on any holiday. The car in fact was not the one I ordered, it was too small for our needs. It was chaos when getting the car and took over 2 hours to arrange this 'wrong car'. The person also wanted to charge us for existing damage on the car but luckily we had photos to prove we did not damage it. Utterly appalling company to use.
Don't Use This Company!
Very bad experience I had and I wished I'm done research before using this company. Saw on a website 92% of their customers rated them bad and advice people to avoid this company. Too late for me I guess but I hope others read about them and avoid bad experience I have to endure like many others. Bad customer service at airport counter. No reply on written complaint. Absolutely nothing.
We Rented A Car And It Was Problematic And Stopped
We rented a car and it was problematic and stopped in the highway. After a lot of problems we changed the car and gave us a very dirty car. We returned the car as we got it with no damages. A few days later they charged us almost 600euro for damages that did not exist.

We rented a car from the Maggiore company with online booking through Discoverycar with a full risk insurance policy for our stay in Sicily. Pick-up and drop off: Catania airport.
The car (Renault Clio) that they offered us was completely scratched, dirty (even the interior) and the petrol level was not completely full at the time of collection. We took many pictures. The confirmation document they provided us indicate 29,65 euros more than the contract signed online: they justified this issue as an error of the system, and that confirmed us that unfortunately they were not able to help. They suggested us to refer to Maggiore customer service that will be in charge for the refund. We tried to call them several time but unfortunately they are not rechable.
During the drop off, the employee did not want to check the car and did not want to issue us any signed documents for the closure of the contract, saying that everything was ok and that they would send an email.
They actually sent an email charging us 230 euros for a scratch that was already present at the time of collection. We tried to contact them to complain via email and telephone but none answered us. Since se were still in Sicily, we decided to visit them and complain. They welcomed us with shouts and they were very rude and unpolite, they told us that it was a mistake, they tried to cancel the full amount but still 20 euros to be paid by us for the bank transaction fees, so they guarantee us a voucher of the same amount.
The voucher was never sent to us.
On the day of our departure from Catania to come back to Paris, we decided to visit again Maggiore agency for the last time and check why the voucher was not sent. They welcomed us with shouts, confirming that they sent us the voucher. After insisting for at least 15 minutes, they checked nd "realized” that they have sent the voucher to the wrong email address.
Bad service, bad reception! Don't waste your money and your time! Especially if you live abroad and do not have the opportunity to visit them to claim. Avoid this company

Should have read the reviews before renting. During check in we got a damage report. Scratch on the back bumper of the car. When we returned the car they found an extra scratch! € 160- ! They could not supply us with a picture of the damage from before our rental. Seems they don't make pictures of the damages made !?!? Looked like the cheapest rental, turned out to be the most expensive. I can't stand the fact that I got hustled this way. I was really surprised that this is part of Avis.. I will never again book with this company or any other Avis company. They took €160, but will lose much more as I do tend to rent quite a lot and am very vocal when upset.
