I First Tried A Iiyama Vision Master 455 Pro 19" A

I first tried a Iiyama Vision Master 455 pro 19" after my hansol 710 17" gave up the ghost after 8 years service.

I looked at LCD's but I like a fast refresh rate for games and I don't like the way they look "artificial" or "processed" although clarity is excellent.

The Iiyama's colours were very nice and vivid but clarity was not good especially in the centre where text would be blurry even at 1024x768. Higher resolutions were even worse. I got a replacement, same problem. I suspect quality control has gone to the dogs with these NEC/Mitsubishi tubed monitors since NEC stopped making their own monitors, or maybe even someone else makes the tubes now. Others having similar problems with Iiyama 455 and 451, lots of dodgy ones out there.

So I went back to Hansol, Colours are not great out of the box. You need to up the Blue Green in the colour temperature settings and then up the contrast in your graphics card settings.

Then you get a beautifully colourful sharp display.

Colour not quite on a par with aperature grille displays but still good.

If you can forgive the not quite flat screen then this is an amazing bargin.

ps. CCL computers won't give you a refund unless you start threatening them. Word of wisdom ..if you have a problem getting a refund ring VISA and get them to "freeze the payment" so it no longer appears on your balance (you don't have to pay for it!) and tell them to initiate proceedings to reclaim your money. Thus it is in VISA's interest to get your/their money back. Tell the supplier this. Its all free! and easy!).

I Bought This Hansol 920p 19" Monitor Along With M

I bought this Hansol 920p 19" monitor along with my new PC a couple of months ago and im quite happy with it. Im not a monitor specialist but ive compared it with a few friends monitors and it seems to retain its contrast as my previouse monitor went all dark on me, tube burnt out.

Its got the usual on-screen display settings that you would expect on any good monitor. It's priced at around £130 which is quite reasonably priced. Bad points is the lack of high resolutions and it does tend to heat up alot as do most large monitors.
