The Neuston Maestro DVX-1201 ( www.neustonusa.com ) is one of the new multi-format players available in the U.S. It not only plays standard dvds but can read DIVX (version 3.11 and higher), XVID, MPEG4, MP3s, audio cds.
It has upgradeable firmware so that it can keep up with the constantly changing codecs and formats. Neuston manufacturers seem to have good support so far and respond quickly to inquiries.
This player can also be modified with a code to become multi region.
MP3 playback is impressive as it will show ID3 tags or the complete file name. Play songs randomly or create a playlist.
The player will read several formats burned on one disc without problems (i.e. mpeg4 and .avi on one cd).
Picture and sound quality is as good as the file created (Avis tend to not always be the best quality to begin with).
Subtitle support is available for .avis as well as multi-language support.
Overall this player is impressive and perfect for people with a collection .avis who are tired of only watching movies on their monitors.
