Palm Zire 21

I used a basic pocket digital diary for many years, and found that to be very beneficial, both at work and home. When I came across the Zire, and got it at a bargain price, things changed drastically. I hadn't realised just how functional such a small device could be!

The device replaced all but my cell phone. Its memory doesn't seem that wonderful at 8Mb, and yet the amount of information it can store in that 8Mb is unbelievable! Palm have a real gem in these devices.

The only drawbacks which the device has, compared to the latest in mobile phone technology, is that of being able to (1) make phone calls, (2) take photos / videos, (3) read e-mails and attachments. Now, this may seem like a long list of important things, but taking into consideration that it was purchased (and produced) to fit into the digital diary niche; it more than holds its own.

The book reader function was found to be a real saver, especially when in "boring" situations where I had time to kill. I even found a Bible reader program which I could download, enabling me to spend more time reading the Bible.

There are various calculator programs available for the device, making it extremely versatile - almost to the point that I'm not sure which calculator to keep on the device.

Another very useful program delivered with the device is its Mobile Database. I just wish I could get a similar program (with the same functionality and ease of use) for my mobile phone!

When upgrading my mobile phone I found that I was looking at replacing the old device with something with specifications very similar to those found on the Zire 21. That's how much it became a part of my every day manner of working.

I'm still using the Zire 21, although now more as a backup.
