For A 1.2 Reasonable Power, Just Been Driving V-as
For a 1.2 reasonable power, just been driving v-astra 1.6 and the stilo has more torque.
Good fuel 45-50 on a longer run (average speed 45-50)this is what your average speed is, taking all the stops and starts.
Never had any trouble starting or running. It does show up temporary fault warnings due to dampness,(usually when parked at odd angles) unless thay stay on you just ignore them.
Good seats good comfort. They are cheap to buy compared to some equivelents but continue to depreciate. This 3 door model has a low roof line and lacks rear space and the boot is smaller than average, trying to get enough money to fit a tow bar to carry my bikes on a bike carrier!
Some reports suggest problems with tyres wearing out early, we had one the drivers front but since the tracking was re-set this does not appear to be re-occuring. Try colway remoulds if you cant afford new tyres they are better than steel radials any way.
This was my dads car before me, he bought it new and the same faults and benefits were there. He had it serviced by Fiat, i have been usuing a local garage, apart from being unable to re-set service lights the car is running well.
I believe if you do not service the car at all you will get all sorts of faults. Very few reviews state if there car has been getting serviced properly.
My dad had 5 Fiats before this and no faults or reliabilty issues except for the first Tipo a 1.4 petrol witch suffered from very wet weather problems this appeared to be cured when a electric module was replaced. His other Tipo diesel- two petrol Puntos, a petrol Bravo had zero probs.
Obviously due to the high volume cars like this you will get some poor examples, the problems seems to be either the main dealer or importer not cutting there losses on these lemon cars, and people get a rotten deal, they go on webs like this, tell all their friends, then a car gets a bad reputation, possibly not deserved.

I'm A New Driver On The Road And I Have Just Bougt
I'm a new driver on the road and I have just bougth a Fiat Stilo 1.2 16 valve. Apart from a few dodgey electrics its a good runner with a sharp 1st and 2nd gear (something all new boy drivers like) I think its quite good.

How Do I Begin? We Have Had Nothing But Problems S
How do I begin? We have had nothing but problems since buying the Stilo due to the computer continually throwing up engine fault codes which no garage, including the Fiat Dealer, seem able to diagnose. We are continually throwing good money after bad! This engine fault code system is a huge con - yes, we can take the car to independent garages but their equipment cannot diagnose all the fault codes - we have to take the car to a Fiat Dealership who then charge £70 just to clear the fault codes off the computer. They then suggest that there is something wrong with the alternator which when we check with an independent dealer, they say there is nothing wrong with it.
We will never buy a Fiat again.
All Fiat dealers have this swindle with the diagnostic computer. I've had it on the Coupe, Stilo and now on the Barchetta. €100 just to turn the airbag lights off...
A common problem is the airbag wiring under the driver's seat. Don't adjust the seat fore-aft with the ignition on or you could need to reset the system..I kid you not!

Having Enjoyed Three Years Of Trouble Free Motorin
Having enjoyed three years of trouble free motoring with my Fiat Stilo Active Air Con 1.2 5dr, I was looking forward to p/e for a new Stilo. P/e values quoted by 2 Fiat garages I went too were absolutely ridiculous. Sums quoted were 50% of the marked price of similar models on their fore court with much higher mileage than mine. I'm afraid Fiat cars are a no-no from now on.

Since Buying The Fiat Stilo I Have Become More And
Since buying the Fiat Stilo I have become more and more attached to it. I think it is a great family car - it's not a racy, pacy type of vehicle, but in terms of comfort, handling and everything else I find it to be great!
You obviously got the demo model with the faults fixed.

Spacious, Comfortable And Well Thought Out But Too
Spacious, comfortable and well thought out but too many faults to recommend the Fiat Stilo Active. Problems not helped by attitude of Fiat main dealer. Took threats of legal action and solicitors letters to get the faults fixed.
Feed back on other sites says later models 1.4 upwards (Stilo Mk2) are a lot better. They need to be.
Rung in a rage by the new owner. Air Con has died again (3rd time) and front tyres wearing rapidly on the inner edge. Dealer advises €€€ to reset front suspension. The brute is 3 years old with 35k miles. Don't buy one!!
