Be Aware

Have been using OPODO for years. Unfortunately have reached the conclusion it has no satisfactory service when travel problems arise. Example: had to rebook two flights with Latam and TAAG. First OPODO tells me to direct myself to airline to request date changes. Airline tells me they cannot reebok because I bought through third party: LOST THE BOOKING. Second time OPODO confirms that date change of one leg approved by TAAG. After a week I receive message that it's not possible. Also lost one leg of flight. Also the PRIME membership is a sham when realised they charged for it. They kind of lure into it. OPODO? NEVER AGAIN. GOOD BYE. I HOPE YOU GO BROKE.

Terrible Experience

I joined Opodo in November 15th of last year. Everything went well. I was charged the full £89.99 for the services and my discounts were applied.

Then in January, I book another flight and then they charge me 120 euros AGAIN for "prime" even though I have an email proving that I have an account and that I've been billed.

No problem, customer service will sort it out. I spend 2 hours speaking to someone on the phone, sending emails as proof of my purchase. They speak to their manager and say "no problem, we will refund you. We don't want anyone to be billed twice like you :)"

I wait a week for the refund, and then instead of a refund I get billed AGAIN for £89.99. So in total, I've been billed over 300 euros for a subscription on one account.

No worries... I can speak to customer service again, right?

Now I'm speaking to someone on the phone, and they are telling me that "they can't find my subscription" even though I have an email and bank statement to prove this. Then they are (very insultingly) telling me that "they can't offer full refunds, I'm sorry". I've been refunded for 1 of the 3 over charges. Absolutely, hands down the worst service ever. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I understand that companies make mistakes... it's happened before. But they do their best to fix their mistakes, especially when I have documentation to prove that they made a mistake.

Please, whatever you do, DO NOT USE OPODO

I signed up for an Opodo Prime membership, which saved me around £20 on a flight earlier this year. When I decided that the £69.99 Prime membership was too expensive for the number of holidays I'd likely book, I phoned up to cancel because - of course! - it wasn't possible on their app or website...

An incredibly lengthy call ensued, where I was offered a discounted price of £19.99 including 2 vouchers - £70 off a flight & £100 off a flight/hotel booking. The minimum spend after the voucher was only a pound! It sounded too good to be true!

Unfortunately it was. Vouchers were supposed to land in my inbox in January but failed to arrive. I didn't realise until a few months later - after another painfully long call to a call centre in India with a terribly unclear line, the flight voucher finally arrived despite being told to expect both vouchers.

Admittedly, I should've chased it earlier than November - but I've just wasted over 20 minutes on the phone to establish that their policy changed in May and I wouldn't be getting a second voucher. Their arrogant, argumentative and incompetent staff manning the so-called "VIP customer service" lines have an attitude problem as well as a limited command of English.

After wasting time chatting to one agent for several minutes, I was transferred to another one without any explanation. The second agent asked me to provide evidence of what I was offered in January (after lying about the vouchers having already been sent), which I did. Instead of applying common sense and keeping their word and issuing the voucher, I was told their policy had changed in May. No communication was received then to alert me to the change. In any case, it's irrelevant because the vouchers were promised 4 months prior and used as bait to stop me cancelling Prime.

It's also a bizarre way to treat a customer if they expect any repeat business! Once I've ensured my membership won't auto-renew, I'll be deleting the app and will have no plans to give these lying charlatans any future business.

Sham Artists

Appalling. They just mugged me of £70 for an account I haven't used since 2022 which auto-renews. I called to cancel and get a refund as soon as I got the email, and they said it's impossible to refund. Absolute joke. The person on the phone was awfully disrespectful to me and spoke to me like I was an idiot when they are not following basic rules that literally every other subscription company uses: send an email a few days before auto-renewal to allow people to cancel. I have never seen such appalling customer service.

A Warning To All Travelers

I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Opodo that I feel compelled to share. If you are considering using this service, I urge you to think twice. Here’s why:

Unauthorized Prime Membership Enrollment and Charges

Despite carefully opting out of their Prime membership while booking, Opodo signed me up anyway. Worse still, they charged me twice without my consent: £59.99 last year and £69.99 this year. This happened without any clear warning or permission, which is nothing short of a deceptive practice.

Difficulty in Canceling Prime Membership

Attempting to cancel this unauthorized membership turned into a nightmare. Opodo requires you to call them directly to cancel Prime, a process that’s deliberately made as difficult as possible. When I finally got through to an agent, I was told I would not receive a refund for the unauthorized charges. They offered only to cancel the membership moving forward, which felt like adding insult to injury.

Misleading Prime Membership Benefits

Opodo markets their Prime membership as offering the best travel deals, but I found this to be misleading. I easily found cheaper options on other, more reputable websites. Their claims of savings are false, and the supposed benefits of Prime membership are, in my experience, nonexistent.

Questionable Reviews on Trustpilot

The positive, 5-star reviews on Trustpilot appear highly suspicious. It’s hard not to believe that these glowing reviews might be fabricated by Opodo’s own staff to lure unsuspecting customers into their trap. The contrast between these reviews and my own experience is stark.

A Final Word: Avoid at All Costs

Opodo’s practices are nothing short of a sham. They lure you in with promises of savings, only to charge you annually for a membership that offers no real benefits. Their customer service is abysmal, designed to frustrate you into giving up on getting your money back. It’s shocking that a company like this is still operating.

If you value your money, time, and peace of mind, I strongly recommend avoiding Opodo altogether. There are plenty of legitimate travel booking websites out there that offer better deals, transparency, and respect for their customers.

Worst Travel Experience Of My Life

Following the worst travel experience of my life, I plan on filing a lawsuit against "Opodo.com".

I was basically rubbed by not getting the service I paid for, and they refuse to refund me.

Do Not Use Opodo!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

Cancelled subscription 3 months prior to renewal by phone. Customer service kept informing us of all the benefits. After 60 minutes on the phone, insisting we wanted to cancel. They agreed. Also cancelled subscription via their website. In June they took a renewal payment (even though cancelled subscription!)

Have now spent over 5 hours (over the course of 6 phone calls) attempting to get a refund and been told every time to wait 72 hours and I should receive refund. Nothing received!

Worst customer service, terrible customer care, highly advise anyone NOT TO USE THIS COMPANY!

I have been waiting for a refund for 10 months now.

NOTHING from Opodo. Same story on their chat support...they keep passing me from one to another agent saying wait 72 hours... for almost 10 months now!

Dont Use

You buy a cheap flight and they automatically sign you up for an annual (auto-renew) subscription called Opodo Prime, which is £60. They send you emails to confirm the subscription, which most people wouldn't read (why would you, when you already have your flight confirmation email) - and they use these emails as evidence that you "should" have known what you've been signed up to. No chance of getting the money back, but I'll never use Opodo again

When you pay online with Opodo, do you get an e-mail immediately & how soon does this transaction show on your statement (online)?

I would not buy anything with Opodo. You may not receive any confirmation email while your card is charged. The last time I used that very bad site, I received any email saying that I would receive my electronic plane ticket. After 7 days, several emails and phone calls, I hadn't received anything. They don't answer phone calls and don't reply emails. So frustating! TO BE AVOIDED
