Cheap And Nasty
With its chunky off road styling and impressive standard kit you'd be forgiven for thinking the Kia Sorento is a premium SUV....It isn't. Having owned various Mercedes ML's and the like over the years, I can only say that Kia misses the mark by quite some margin. The vehicle we very briefly owned was a 2006 model with a mere 75,000 on the clock and a fully stamped service book, so expectations were high. However, the reality was a huge disappointment. The interior is extremely cheap and nasty, the engine is loud and woefully under powered, and the ride quality is awful. The steering is vague and unresponsive, and the car jiggles and bounces over even the smallest of bumps ( of which we sadly have many on the UK roads ) However, the worst feature of this vehicle is the complete lack of under body rust protection. There are many reports of rear axles literally coming away from their mountings due to corrosion, and I'm hardly surprised given that our car was so rusty it shouldn't have passed an MOT. So we returned it to the dealer ( who refunded us without question ) and is hopefully on it's way to the scrapyard where it belongs.

Have Owns Several Big Name 4x4's The Sorento Is As
Have owns several big name 4x4's the Sorento is as good as any of them, more comfortable and definately more miles per gallon, getting 38.
Taking price into account this has to be of the best buys on the market today.
Travelling through Yorkshire in up to 500mm snow,no problem at all, eats up the miles on the motorway, had a small problem with the cruise control, took it in and they fixed it while I waited, overall I am well impressed and would have another.
Have yet to tow with it,but there is so much torque,it must be good.

Avoid ,ride Is Awful ,useless In The Snow ,turbo W
Avoid ,ride is awful ,useless in the snow ,turbo went ,automatic gearbox is rubbish for towing, radio is a joke.Plus points quite well equipped (XT) but the air con has a mind of its own as does the alarm. Can not wait to get rid of it.
A bad 4x4 is usually down to the driver not the car. I have had a Sorento XS CRDi for 10 years and it is the best car I have ever owned. It has now done 221,000 miles and has always started first time, it is a very comfortable and quiet motorway cruiser, it is a superb trailer tug, it has been a great removals van, rally chase car and off road it is awesome.
On icy roads I have never driven a car more surefooted and in January 2009 I used it to pull a wrecked BMW 3-Series out of the central reservation on the M90 near Perth in Scotland. Two of the BMW's wheels were jammed by twisted but in low range 2nd gear no problems.
In snow in low range it is almost unstoppable and happily romps up snow covered hills towing stuck two wheel drive cars with a nonchalant "Snow? What snow?" attitude.
Oh sorry,,,,,,,,,,,,,did I mention that I dragged a three tonne Ford Transit truck up a one mile long snow covered hill with it?
I suggest that you learn how to drive properly.
The problem is not the Kia Sorento but the driver.
Not very constructive, more like the ramblings of a spoilt kid.....
do try again, yeah I have one 2005, Black and Pewter xs and as a 4x4 it beats
a hell of a lot and it drives great, the point about the air switch, that's probably true
it does turn it self on without being asked, or called for it's all down to the temp.
below 19c its going to keep switching on....but I can live with that.

I Got My Sorrento Xs About 3 Months Ago And I Real
I got my sorrento xs about 3 months ago and i really love it.It is brilliant for towing with and a very comfortable jeep to drive. It does 34 mpg which im quite happy with as other jeeps only do between 24 and 30. For value for money and comfort i would recommend the sorrento jeep to anyone. I looked at jeeps same age and low miles and they where all 6 to 10 grand more expensive than the sorrento. Also it has heated seats full leather interior and sat nav, and is generally well finished. I hope to drive this jeep for many years and would def go for a kia again....

Ive Had My Kia Sorento For Two Months Now And To B
Ive had my Kia Sorento for two months now and to be honest, for value for money you can't beat it. Its a little sluggish but its a big car but thats my only niggle. Otherwise the build quality is amazing for the on-road price. It feels as good as the Aude Q7, you get loads of extras that would cost you a fortune with the other 4X4's. It feels solid when your driving and the interior is a work of art, easy to use the controls that feel very expensive. Its practical as a seven seater and with the seats down its huge.
If you are in the market for a 4X4 then you really need to consider the Kia Sorento. If you d-badged the car it would pass for a £40,000.00 car. Amazing price, amazing drive, amazing quality, what more do you want

A Great Car For Every Thing From General Family Us
A great car for every thing from general family use to towing, Pulls a loaded caravan or a large horse trailer plus 2 horses with no problem at all. Only 2 Gripes so far; Watch your dealers when they quote prices for services (I have had a variation of nearly £150 for a 20k service.from Kia main dealers - Why?? ). also am at present having trouble locating M&S tyres at a sensible price for 465/60/18 wheels. They seem to be like the proverbial Rocking Horse Poo.

I Collected My New 2010 Kia Sorento (in Silver) -
I collected my new 2010 Kia Sorento (in silver) - top of the range and I love it. What a difference. It is no longer just a 4 X 4 car, but it is sophisticated and good looking! I would say that it is coming into the same league as the Volvo, Audi, etc, but not as expensive. Lots of extras and a joy to drive. The best bits are the keyless entry and drive and the drive itself. The new Sorento actually has some power behind it, even though it is a smaller engine. In the old Sorento, if I put my foot down, I didn't go anywhere fast! This one races away. The ride is also a lot softer. You don't feel every bump and you aren't thrown around the car like the old one. Don't get me wrong, I loved my old Sorento. This is my third one! But this is even better! I love it and would recommend it to anyone. Brilliant car! No complaints so far!

I Have Just Placed My Order For The New Kia Sorent
I have just placed my order for the new Kia Sorento and am due to collect it next Saturday. The car looks completely different to the old model and is now coming into a class of its own. Really elegant looking. Only downside is that there is no option to buy sat nav which is a bit strange and as the facia inside is different to the old one, I am not sure my current one will fit in. It hasn't put me off though. What i find disappointing is that there are more options available if you buy the Sorento in the USA - sat nav, reversing camera, etc. They simply aren't available in the UK which is a real shame. On a positive note, the car looks great both inside and out, plus it has 7 seats and the 2 in the back have good leg room.
This will be my third Sorento and I love them. Value for money, although the new model is more expensive, but at the same time, you get more in it. I agree that people are put off by the brand name. Someone once said to me they were cheap sh**e! But I strongly disagree. I have never had any problems with them, apart from at Christmas with the really cold weather when my engine kept cutting out, but it was easily fixed and it is 3 1/2 years old.
I would recommend everytime. I agree that the old model is starting to look dated now, but Kia are certainly moving with the times.

Love Everything About The Sorento, Tows Very Well.
Love everything about the sorento, tows very well. However, I have only managed to get around 350 miles from a full tank!! Most of my journeys are short but this seems ridiculously low. Any comments?
That is low - I have a 2004 XS CRDi Sorento and with some unscientific testing (measuring the fourteen fill-ups and range when I first brought it) I estimated that each quarter of the tank does 130 miles and a full tank (without the reserve) is good for 530 miles.
I have had my Sorento for ten years now and it has done 221,000 miles and I average 32mpg.

Q&A
I am seriously thinking about getting one of these but what are the automatics like for towing caravans? I have heard that the gear boxes are a little flimsy in the automatics. Is this true?Â
