Max Secure Spyware Detector 2005

Where to begin - well, I wont launch into what went wrong so I'll just say what went right: nothing. No refund and it was too frustrating to use. It's a lemonware.

Was led to this Max Spyware Detector software through cnet, who by the way I am trusting less and less. My credit cards were hacked recently and that is why I was looking for spyware, malware detection software.

Tried to download because that was the only way I could get the download reminder popup off my home screen. Did the download just so I could then uninstall the program and popup. Download was hit/miss, kept jumping back and forth. Then, had to do a scan, which took 30 minutes for the first pass, then after requiring another scan because an update had been installed, that took over an hour. OK, found what appeared to be some garbage so decided to purchase at 29.95. Oh, comes time to check out and an addition 9.95 got added for some related software. Could not change the checkout cart so still went ahead. Tried to use a credit card and it came back would not authorize. Tried a different card, came back same thing, would not authorize. Entered chat with agent who told me to call their credit card processor. No way. Told them to forget it.

After all this, got to thinking that during the deep scan they probably pulled every piece of financial info I had on my computer. Now I am on guard for two charges that they will probably process and I will have to monitor other data that can be compromised.

Watch out, something very fishy about this outfit. If cnet tells you it is good stuff, think twice anymore...their advertisers are expecting good reviews and they are getting them.

This review is for MAXSPYWARE DETECTOR i was running this spyware detector

and thought it was OK then when it came up for renewal i paid the £16 and

the new code they sent me would not work so i asked for a refund.

I am still waiting for a reply so i am now using TREND MICRO which picked

up spyware that MAX was not detecting so beware of MAX SPYWARE DETECTOR.

I have used Max Spyware Detector for a year and I find that it found and eliminated all the problems I had on my laptop after being infected by a friends email from Facebook. I use it and have found it has the best malware protection ever. No interruptions, no slowdowns and no worries about protection.

Max Secure Spyware Detector 2005 doesn't work and the only way I was able to get my money back from the company was to threaten them with legal action and I told them I would report them to CNET, the website I downloaded the program from.

Enviroment used in:

I use the program on 2 internet connected machines.Implement when

needed on various lap tops given to me by "collegues" who have familys that

have no idea of the words "Anti-virus" or "Firewall" when using the internet.

The Bad:

Can throw up the odd D/Negitives(false Hits,less so with the newer 2009 versions,BUT it can still happen)

Update engine on new version sometimes sticks,you have to hit cancel and

then hit the update again.Not the end of the world but irritating.

The Good:

Very fast scan engine.

Finds alot of threats others don't.

Has fixed/Cleaned many threats/problems other programs could not.

Conclusion:

I use Panda 2010,Sweeper,Spydoctor all great program that do a better job

day to day with none of the "Bads" Max SD has.But MaxSD has many times

found and fixed problems the others cannot.Its a great tool but it has

its flaws,it saving grace is despite itself its does work on problems

my other programs can't.

Max Secure Spyware Detector product and company suck. It doesnt find jack adn it has screwed up th operation of a number of windows programs on my pc. Ihave been fighting them to refund my money for 6 months to NO avail. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!

Max Secure has glowing 5 star reviews on some sites, but they are all anonymous really.

Some more authorative IT comments are fairly negative, so I tend to believe the latter, as I am personally unimpressed. What is more important is that the Dell machine that I installed it on is very sluggish and I have not detected any improvement in performance since using Spyware Detector. I am most worried about the 44 Malware items that Spybot attributes to the Spyware Detector program.

Was the only anti-spyware that was able to remove fake anti-spyware from my computer. The first time I got spyware, no other anti-spyware was able to remove it but spyware detector removed it first time. When I got fake SWS anti-spyware on my computer, after a bit of dialogue with them and a few database updates it was able to remove it when other anti-spyware programs weren't able to.

Fantastic product and when a problem occurs you can get advice through on-line chat. After supplying a log to the research centre, they solve your problem with a database update. Would recommend to anybody...

It allows to scan for spyware, but not to clean in the free version. But it is OK as you have a 30 day no questions asked money back guarantee. Very fast product and very comprehensive. Great stuff and well recommend Max Secure Spyware Detector 2005.
