We Had A Lovely Wedding Day At The World Famous Bl

We had a lovely wedding day at the World Famous Blacksmith's Shop in Gretna Green. There were some tourists watching us enter and exit but there was a curtain closed for privacy during the ceremony. We had a minister conduct our service and a piper who we would definitely recommend as well. The staff were very helpful and ensured we had a lovely day. We were also presented with two crystal commemorative glasses and a silver horse shoe charm - a very nice gesture. Anyone considering being married in Gretna Green would have a lovely romantic wedding at the blacksmiths shop - we did! Excellent value for money - we wouldn't change a thing about our wedding.

What A Fantastic, Unforgettable Wedding Day My Par

What a fantastic, unforgettable wedding day my partner, Maxine and I had when we got married at the Old Blacksmiths in gretna. Everything was organised exceptionally right through from the initial greeting to the end of the day. The Minister, the piper, the staff even the photographer were all brilliant and the venue was really romantic and over delivered on the promises we had been given. A truly unforgettable day - thank you to everyone.

My Husband And I Wanted A Small But Romantic Venue

My husband and I wanted a small but romantic venue for our wedding, so after much deliberation we settled for Gretna Green - how more romantic could you have it. We had a wonderful day. The staff go out of their way to ensure that it really is a special day for you, and try to accommodate all that you have asked for.

The only thing we did not realise when we booked it was that original room with the original anvil in it, was open viewing which meant that all the tourists who were visiting the Blacksmiths Shop could come into the room, and watch your wedding. My husband was not very happy about this when he arrived, and the staff there were very quick to offer us a more private room - again nothing was too much trouble.

I did not realise that there would have been so many tourists still there at that time of the year (it was the end of September) and they got quite excited to see a real wedding taking place (the staff sometimes stage weddings to give the tourists something extra to see). They all wanted to take photos at the same time as our own photographer and would not move out of the way when we were trying to have our pictures taken and when we were driving in and out. Saying that they did not ruin the day in any way. They were all so pleasant, all congratulating us and wishing us all the best. People came up and shook our hands and asked if they could take photos. There were people there from all over the world, and I have to say I was a little embarrassed by all the attention - so much for the small quiet wedding.

At the end of our ceremony, the matre de of the Blacksmiths Shop came in and gave us a small silver anvil charm and two beautiful crystal glasses as a present from them, which I thought was so kind.

It was very cheap to get married there - you can make you wedding as expensive or as cheap as you want there, and everything we asked for was accommodated.

I would recommend having a wedding there anytime. Staff are wonderful, the setting is beautiful and there really is not a more romantic a place in the UK. Very highly recommended.
