I Have Owned My Rav 4 For 8 Years, Buying It New I
I have owned my RAV 4 for 8 years, buying it new in 2003, due to a growing family. I have the diesel version and fuel consumption is not too bad, especially for a 4x4.
It handles well on the road, more like a nippy car than a 4x4. But the 4x4 is noticeable and fantastic for the snowy weather we have had.
My car has taken us down to the South of France several times and has always been extremely reliable.
In the 8 years I have owned the car (though I have had regularly serviced),I have only had to replace tyres and windscreen wipers. It is still on its original exhaust! Even servicing by Toyota is good value compared to other car makes, about £150 all in.
All in all, I would say extremely reliable as nothing gone wrong yet, practical and large enough for a family with prams, travel cots, bunging bikes in the boot etc. And diesel and servicing not too costly either, so would highly recommend. I am considering a new car soon, and more than likely will get another one.

The Toyota Rav4 is a lovely car, great for occasional off road (not to rough though). Loads of boot space.
They just keep going and going.

Most Definitely The Rav Is One Of The Best Cars I
Most definitely the RAV is one of the best cars I have ever owned. True Toyota Quality and Reliability. I part ex'd my P reg Max in 2003 at 58k, whowever bought it from the dealer got a 6 year old car almost indistinguishable from new, still running on its original exhaust system. The car is probably good for 200k more miles.

I Bought The Toyota Rav4 2.0 Because My Wife Wante
I bought the Toyota RAV4 2.0 because my wife wanted the Freelander! I reviewed all possibilities and then got the Rav 5 door GX. My wife was a chuffed as nuts and still is, just as i am. So much so going to buy the diesel version. My Rav handles superbly. It feels very well balanced when steering into bends. It responds well when you want it to. The gear selection is precise. Lots of driving positions can be selected and the view from inside is what you would expect from a 4x4. The only niggle I suppose is that it is a bit of a juice guzzler. Not extreme but you do notice it when loaded to the hilt - which you can do. OVERALL.....GLAD I DIDN'T BUY THE FREELANDER!!!
