20 Yrs Behind.... Maybe More
I booked my travel thru SkyLux travel. My agent was very professional. But I had my doubts about air China But accepted my itinerary anyway. DFW-IAH-PEK-BKK
DFW-IAH... United F-2A
IAH-PEK... Air China J-13A
PEK-BKK... Air China J-2A
Same seats and Airlines on return.
Thought it strange they wanted my drink and all meal choices before we even left the gate. The food to PEK wasn't to bad. After dinner I wanted coffee, but I also wanted some Bailey's with it.
It's bad enough I had to get up and go to the galley for coffee because after dinner the flight crew is gone, except for in the galley. But when I asked for coffee and Bailey's I was informed Bailey's was in First class. I said okay. And made my request again. I got the same reply from her. So I turned and walked thru first class and took the bottle of Bailey's back to the business class galley and gave it to her. All the while saying to her, It's called costumer service.....
But rest of that flight was okay.
In transit thru PEK... No more for this guy. Crazy but had to clear security again. Had no trouble in DFW or IAH in having a lighter in my laptop case.... But in PEK you would have thought I had a Hellfire missile in that case..... Security went nuts and I really thought I was about to get shot..... But that's another story.
3 hour layover in PEK and arrived in BKK with no checked bag. You have a Priority checked bag and 3 hours to load it and don't. REALLY.... That bag had all my beach wear and stuff in it because I was catching an early flight the next morning to Hat Yai on to Koe Lipe...... I cant even put in print how mad I was.
My retune...... The food was not for human consumption. Im not sure how you can even call it food.
I truly expected a lot more out of Air China.....
That business class ticket came out of my pocket. Not bought by a company. So I expected a lot more for my dollar.....
So the bottom line is, no more air China.... And never be in transit thru China again....
Horrible
The most horrible airline and airport hub in the world.
horrible too
It my first time travel fom houston to beijing and had a very bad experience,my husband picked a cup from the floor and hand it to the flight attendent, she told him this is still clean, you can use for refill.and since my daughter throat up on the blanket,i put it on the floor, then the flight attendant was kind like mad at me and said, dun put on the floor, other can use it,i wonder you guys dun wash and give to others!!!and also, the food is awful,my first meal and second meal has almost 12 hours gap,i was starving
Out Of Date!
My first trip to China from Los Angeles and the interior not only looked old, but it was one of those planes that had the huge screen TV in the front...right in front of me. I was forced to watch Justin Beiber's Never Say Never against my will. What's with the lack of technological updates???
I Think They Found The Flight Attendants On The Street!
Appeared staff had little or no safety training. Passengers up walking around while plane was sitting on an active runway, and during the flight when pilot had seatbelt sign on. Flight crew did not enforce any safety regulations. English was limited......
I would never fly this carrier ever again.
Twice was enough this past week between Hong Kong and PEK...

The Look
I will never forget the look the air hostess gave me when her trolly was next to me . " a drink" . I asked for a whisky then hesitated as she gave me a serous look. I didn't ask for the coke mixer . I just saw the stacks of orange juice and said. " orange juice"
The flight was terrible in every way

Air China Fails Basic Service Expectations!
On the 26/06 I was travelling from Sydney to Moscow on flights CA176 Sydney-Beijing and then CA909 Beijing-Moscow with my 11 month old son. We had arranged our flights through Flight Centre, a well reputed travel company in Australia, who recommended Air China as a professional airline carrier and member of the Star Alliance.
Before the trip I specifically bought a new pram which is light weight and easy to use to make my trip to Russia with a young child easier. The pram had unfortunately not been loaded into the cabin of the plane before departure. An oversight that was not recognized nor resolved by a number of the Air China team either in Shanghai, Beijing or Moscow.
It concerns me that the following is permitted to occur:
• A single woman can be forced to carry a baby around an airport for in excess of 12 hours and Air China does not care.
• The communication skills of Air China in differing destinations are ineffective.
• Air China staff has a blasé attitude to guests and in fact takes no action or ownership in resolving issues.
• Wheelchairs are considered to be a suitable replacement for a pram.
• Air China staff takes guests luggage without explanation and demand to be followed.
• Air China guests are expected to change all arrangements due to the failings of their organization.
• Neither care nor concern is taken for the damage caused due to the fault of Air China
• Promises of service are blatantly ignored and not fulfilled.
Below is the destruction caused by the handling of Air China representatives of our brand new pram:
• The folding mechanism is smashed with the latch broken off
• The metal frame has been so badly defaced it does not even resemble a new pram
• The fabric is stained and torn
• And a security belt is missing from the pram
My suggestion is for anyone who wants to be treated well to not ever fly with Air China. The service is terrible but the lack of care for guests is abhorant. Don't waste your hard earned money on a company that does not respect its passengers.

Denied Boarding
I paid $750 for a ticket from Kathmandu to Ulaanbaatar Mongolia. At KTM i was informed AT the ticket counter before my flight that China changed visa rules 2 days prior as I was booked a ticket that went through Chengdu and Beijing. There was also a "stopover" in Lhasa(just an hour on the tarmac no change of flight) which has severe regulations so I'm not sure how I was even booked a ticket going through Lhasa to begin with . I was NOT notified of the Chinese visa change which restricted transits from two Chinese cities to one, and after much hassle I was turned over to Thai Airways for a re routed flight to Bangkok with a connecting flight to Beijing and then catch my original flight plan to UB with Air China. At Bangkok transit desk i was notified that AGAIN, i would not be allowed to board because i did not have a Mongolian Visa. I am a US Citizen with US Passport. I did my homework and very clearly it states on mongolian and us embassy sites that US Passport holders are EXEMPT from having a visa. I WAS TURNED AWAY, not allowed to board because the airline insisted that i needed a visa even though NO SUCH VISA EXISTS FOR USA CITIZEN. I was then forced to spend the night in the airport and then in the morning told by Air China desk personnel that I would have to exit immigration in Thailand to go to the Air China office in Bangkok. Subsequently i was forced to spend almost 3 days in Thailand...a country i was STRANDED in, until someone at Air China said OOPS, and re issued my ticket. After THEY finally called the Mongolian Embassy at my insistence. I incured unplanned travel expenses, was laughed at by Air China counter person while in distress and told i could not even receive hotel accomodation by the airline even though it was an AIRLINE PROBLEM. It is not my job to inform Air China personnel of treaties and foreign policy that have existed for 10 years. Simply looking up the information in the Travel Information Manual (TIM) would have solved this problem and I would have been able to board my flight in time. However Air China decided to make up their own set of visa rules. Finally when I returned to BKK Air China Terminal it was clear that they knew they made a mistake and i was immediately bumped to Business Class. However a bigger seat, cheap champagne and terrible food on a red eye flight for 4 hours did not make up for 4 days lost due to Air China.

poor you...this is not really the way to treat a US citizen!!

I Have Held A Ca Gold Card For More Than 3 Years N
I have held a CA gold card for more than 3 years now but recently the service has gone downhill dramatically, consistently late departures (despite doors being closed on time), cabin crew much less attentive - especially for westerners on board. PEK-LHR in July using miles to upgrade to business, the flight was a disaster, poor food, the IFE in my seat did not work (flight was full so I had to endure 10 hours without it), staff onboard where as good as could be and very empathetic but terrible flight, then when I collected my luggage it was damaged badly - which started a huge discussion about compensation. They ignored my mails until I kept following up, they refused to give me any contact details other than the generic FFP email, no chance whatsoever for a gold card member to be able to feedback to the management - it seems they have a strict no bad news policy.
In recent magazine articles Zhang Chunzhi service director for CA is repeatedly commenting on the improvements they are trying to make, just try getting contact details (electronic/ telephone or postal) and you find it is not possible to feedback to Zhang Chunzhi how awful the service truly can be.

Very Bad Customer Service From Flight Attendents.
Very bad customer service from flight attendents. Very bad food. Bad smell in the airplane. Very poor quality sound on the headphones. Overall not worth the ticket price I paid for a return flight(and the ticket was not expensive compared to some other airlines). I would give the flight 0 out of 10!

Air China Is Out To Make Money Off Anything Even I
Air China is out to make money off anything even if they are breaking their own Guidelines Service in Beijing is pathetic Managers Laughing at customers making complaints when they know that the customer is in fact correct in what they are saying...
They charged us 11580RMB or close to $2000 Australian for our sporting gear and it is still unresolved and they have proceeded with the bank transaction the whole situation is on the border of being extortion!!!! Pathetic
