My 80 Yr Old Parents Bought An Ideal Logic Combi+2

My 80 yr old Parents bought an Ideal Logic Combi+24. It went off during this Russian Winter making their home as cold as a Fridge. Deathly Cold for them. They entered into a Service Plan with their associate company Anton Group at a cost of over £104 per year payable quarterly.

My parents have tried for hours and hours trying to get through to them when the Boiler broke down. ITS IMPOSSIBLE. They also spent hours trying every other number listed for Homeserve and Ideal to no avail.

They make it impossible to contact them unless you are a Computer Geek and even then it takes hours to get to them. And when you do eventually get through they tell you that you still have to pay an Engineer to repair the Boiler.

They are confidence tricksters and my advice is avoid them like the Plague. NEVER BUY AN IDEAL BOILER AND CERTAINLY NEVER GET INVOLVED WITH THESE SHARKS ANTON GROUP.

They need reporting to Trading Standards.

Nothing But Trouble

Got in December 2011.

November 2013 no hot water so water switch & water turbine replaced.

January 2014 no hot water so diverted cartridge replaced.

February 2014 boiler leaking replaced another part.

November 2015 mended a crack & ordered another part to be replaced.

December 2015 came & replaced sump.

End of December called ideal again as boiler leaking water all over again.

May 2017 boiler leaking again & I have no hot water or heating. Warrantee has now run out so they won't come out to sort the problem out without having to pay more money.

I have had this boiler serviced every year & still had endless problems. Not happy.

Is this a review of the boiler or Taylor Wimpey Homes? Internal leak inside boiler or on the connecting pipework?

Ideal Logic Boilers +

We are a small heating and plumbing company and have been fitting ideal logic boilers now for a while.

First the diverted valve breaks down and on many other occasions water leaks from inside the boiler and causes damage to the customers property, I would advise not to touch any boiler to do with ideal heating

Ideal Logic+ 24kw 7 Year Warranty

IDEAL LOGIC+ 24kw 7 YEAR WARRANTY

Boiler has been highly recommended, still monitoring its gas consumption in summer settings, So far seems to run very quietly and looks very neat. The boiler comes with a thermostat although we opted for a wireless version that make setting the systems up an armchair job.

To install the boiler we used a Sheffield Ideal qualified installer Hallamshire Energy Services Ltd who offered a first class service, expertise and produced a fixed price quotation probably half the cost of other major providers. The installers have pointed out that the new ideal Logic has been a huge improvement over the previous models and compares favourably with the Bosh and Valliant alternatives. All in all very pleased with the boiler and services received from the installers.

Does Not Work With A Megaflo

had to buy a new boiler due to relocation/flue issues with my old one. Plumber recommended, supplied and fitted said boiler.

Works OK

But tons of interfearence on our TV when the flame fires up where there was none with my previous boiler.

Called out engineers. I seems that not only the forth cable is "control", but the pump power is switched. This is a problem as "pump power" on a megaflo needs to be on 24x7 to provide power to the PCB. So in order to get hot water tyhe boiler has to be reset as that tests the pump feed providing power, everything gets hot, the PCB stops demanding , pump power switches off and goodbye power to the megaflo PCB.

As ideal don't instal they wouldn't be in a position to advise at the time of installation. If I called them up would they have said it wasn't suitable? I doubt it. It all does work, just with noise..

You dont know what youre talking about. any heat only boiler will work with a megaflow cylinder if it is installed correctly. also i dont know what you are referring to when you say the megaflow pcb. It doesnt have one it will have a cylinder thermostat, high limit stat and emersion heater. none of which would be wired into the pump live. the pump should never be running 24/7 in a heating system only as and when it is needed to circulate hot water and overrun to cool down.

Q&A

TinaC44

Hi I have an Ideal Logic+ Combi 24 boiler and have to keep filling up the water pressure every few days. As the water goes cold. I've tried looking for a leak but its not in any obvious place.

Is there anything else anyione can think of before I call an engineer? My sister is having the same problem as well.

Is there a fault at all?
