Vaillant Publish User Manuals Apparently Years Out Of Date
I've just had a Vaillant boiler installed and we're working hard to settle it in. I have a paper user manual (poor, nothing about the taps on the bottom of the boiler) and wanted a copy of the manual as a PDF/Adobe Acrobat file to make it easier to search. Nothing on Google, not even putting in what appeared to be the document number, except a document with 2011 on the final page. I rang Vaillant, got a call centre and a load of irrelevant options to register etc. etc. and asked for the current manual, with 2016 on the last page. They offered to email it to me, and minutes later it was here - the 2011 copy!
Now presumably they've changed the 2011 copy because it was out of date, possibly misleading and possibly dangerous. But that's good enough for their customers!

Worthless Warranty
Bought this boiler because of the free 7 year warranty but it's not a warranty at all. Three years in and the heating has stopped working but initially wasn't concerned because knew I had a warranty with the manufacturer. Was told as long as it was serviced annually that the warranty was valid, which I have done every year without fail. Have phoned them three times over the last two days, good job it isn't winter but they want my bank details before anyone will come out to even look at it. Want a £90 security payment unless a gas engineer phones them first to tell them what the problem is, which I have to arrange myself. None of this was explained to me so feel I have been mislead, my reason for buying the boiler was the manufactures warranty. Also the thought of having to go through this every time there's a breakdown fills me with dread, the warranty is pointless.

when I tried to appeal the refusal on my warranty, I was sworn at and the phone hung up. Total robbers leave them alone.

I bought a Valliant regular boiler and controls December 2012 because of the 5 year Valliant warrnty advertised. Immediately after the installation, the gas engineer called Valliant to register the warranty in front of me. 10 days later (just before the deadline to register the warranty) I called valliant to ensure it had beem registered to be told the engineer hadn't registered it. I registered it again on-line as instructed. A month later I still had no confirmation. After a breakdown and 2 engineer no-shows I had to threaten to take legal action unless the 5 year warranty confirmation is sent. The engineer who did come out wrongly diagnosed my new port vavle to be faulty, when the problem was with a wrong setting on the valliant control. 2 months after installation, still no warranty. I've had to report them tp trading standards & BBC's Watchdog.
