Please Avoid

Well the sales manager writes very courteous replies online, but on the phone is very rude and arrogant, and treats you like you are a piece of dirt, and not a customer. How this gets sales for Roof Maker I will never know. This company may be fine if you never have any issues over the warranty period of your windows or doors, but if you do then don't bother with them, as life is too short. Customer services have no idea what they are talking about, let alone doing, and obviously have no idea of what products they actually sell. A shambolic mess to be avoided.

Dreadful Company To Deal With

We ordered (and received) our window but on having to return it, the company continued to fob us off and continually told us they would call us and email us, and then didn't. Thoroughly unpleasant to deal with and would not recommend to anyone.

Dangerous - Exploding Window

I purchased two roof lights early 2016. On 30th June 2018 we heard a loud bang coming from the ceiling.

My daughters were sitting directly under one of the roof lights where the internal pane had exploded. I ran over immediately and told them to run as far away as they could. Fortunately they escaped just before the glass came showering down into the room covering me in glass. I am extremely lucky to have small superficial cuts but my daughters are understandably traumatised.

The glass fell with such a force that it has caused considerable dents and scratches in our floor, our window seat and the step to our patio doors as well as damaging the decorating around the roof light. The outside pane appears to still be intact proving that this was not caused by an object hitting from above.

On three occasions this week their customer service (who almost never answer their phones) said they will call and failed to do so. They are now avoiding all of my calls and emails so I have had to resort to reporting them to Trading Standards to get resolution.

They are trying to suggest that this just happens sometimes, offered me a free replacement window as a special favour (saying this does not amount to liability which they seem terrified of), but the major cost of these is the installation plus repairing the floor/window sill which was damaged by this horrible event.

So use this company with great caution. The product is fine if all goes to plan but don't expect any kind of customer service if it doesn't.

Dreadful Company, Purely Interested In Getting Mon

Dreadful company, purely interested in getting money off you then not bothering with any issues you may have. We wanted three, 3m portrait windows with one that opened – after discussing this with their sales guy and him referring it to a technical member of staff we were assured it wouldn’t be a problem providing we paid 6k straight away! When they arrived they were landscape and unusable for our needs (landscape was never discussed!). When I rang they said that they didn’t even do portrait windows that way! We have only just received an official response from after 3 months of pestering saying they are not willing to do a thing as the Ts and Cs are clear (48hrs from ordering to complain). Do not trust this company – they will either say anything on the phone simply to get your money and then forget about it or they are technically incompetent (or both).

Rooflight Exploded And They're Refusing To Help!

I've had the rooflight for less than a year, today it's exploded all over the kitchen. Got a standard response saying that it wasn't their fault - even though I provided photos showing that it was clearly a manufacturing fault.

Stay well clear of these guys - they charge a premium but won't be there to back it up.

ours also exploded. Still await response. been many weeks now

Hi we had one from August 2013 and it exploded last week! How did you get on with them in the end?

Su51eze

Hi

The same has happened to me in July, has anyone took this further?

DakotaNow

I have just had the same thing happen for one I bought in 2013 - again the company is trying to say its nothing to do with them - outrageous. I have been onto Trading Standards and they say you should report it to them as it builds evidence for Trading Standards to look into their practices if more people report the same thing. Also I have been told by Trading Standards that the Sales of Goods Act legislation has to be followed and that you have a right to them replacing it free of charge.

Product Not Delivered To Site In Suitable Safe Packaging .

2 x 180 kilo skylights arrived to site on an old van with one company driver expected to deliver to kerb .no way to carry as no timber frame to protect such large glass items and impossible to lift .

totally unacceptable and very dangerous .

My team had to make in the road a frame to protect the skylights then fabricate carry straps to lift through house ,we still need to get one storey up off the ground with these units which is going to be difficult .

do not use this company unless they changes delivery attitude , I have asked to speak to the M.D but no phone call yet ..

the same rules apply to all rooflight companies. rooflights are heavy and it is the clients/builders responsibility to offload products. its not roof makers fault. did you expect them to crane it onto your roof ? weights are shown clearly on most quality companies website and literature.

Shame About The Rain Sensors

These are great EXCEPT that when it rains one of our two rooflights eventually closes a little bit but not entirely, and the other one doesn't close at all. So no going out and leaving them slightly open for ventilation which was why we bought them. Such a shame.
