Baumatic BDI631

I've owned this for five years - bought it when I bought my house, and it's never gone wrong really. I think the mechanism for mounting the door fascia could be improved, and one of the little grey prongs to hold the dishes has now bent (and is a bit floppy!), but those are minor things that don't affect how it looks or washes dishes.

Otherwise it's fine and does the job.

The dishwasher itself was ok. It's washing capabilities were probably a little below average and quite a few items would have to go back through for another wash. The washed items in the appliance were often a little wetter than you would hope for but, again, no real issue.

Then, on month 13, the door seal fell off and a call was made to Baumatic.

Baumatic said that they had never received my additional year warranty registration card (sent to them the day after purchase) and that was that. The retailer stepped in and made them come out. The engineer replaced the seal and said that if it fell off again to use a bit of silicone to stick it back in. Is this what Meile tell their customers, I wonder?

After the fix, the machine now leaks steam that condenses on the underside of the work surface and the inside of the cabinet leaving it dripping wet. I have given up and have ordered a Miele, which is what I should have done in the first place.

OK, I hear you say, the machine was a one off lemon. Well... NO, not true. The Baumatic washer dryer that I bought at the same time has also failed, the warranty is not being honoured and the appliance is going to the tip.

I have seriously considered suing the retailer (goods not fit for purpose) but, if they conceded, I would probably end up getting my Baumatics fixed. But believe me, I don't want them in the house. The leaks and spills are ruining my kitchen.

Please, I beg you for your own sake, don't try and save a few quid by buying Baumatic. It really is rubbish and the Company will not help unless they have to. Final thought - they're called Baumatic but they're from the UK; German name, British build quality circa 1975?!

PLEASE STEER CLEAR!!

Overall its a very good dishwasher. Very quite can't even hear it at times. It cleans very well. It priced well for the what you get. Would recommend to everyone.
