Jcb = Just Cant Bloody/start!

I purchased a Factory Reconditioned unit rebuilt to as new

original standard. The unit looked like new, great I thought

how wrong could I have been.

What a piece of junk! It was impossible to start & I’ve had a lot

of petrol strimmers & petrol tools in general so I know what I’m doing.

It just did not want to fire, I checked for a spark which was there!

I heated the plug up with a blow torch & dropped 5ml of fuel down

the plug hole, after another 5 pulls she fired up, I nursed her along &

after it warmed up it seemed ok.

I noticed later that there was NO foam filter in the air box! This would

weaken the mixture making it hard to start! ah all becomes apparent!

I checked with the dealer who checked with the factory & he told me the

factory they don’t fit them anymore!!! The dealer was also taken back by

this as well.

Theres only a plastic mesh over the carb inlet, that’s not going to stop dirt

entering the engine!

The next day I fashioned a piece of foam to fit the recess in the air box,

which I was sure would solve the starting problem.

Sadly it did not! It still would not start with or without the foam filter?

I had a carb from an broken Royobi strimmer which was compatible

with the JCB, so I fitted that & it’s air box. Result she now starts OK,

still takes about 5-8 pulls, but it does start.

It could be that the JCB card just needed adjusting, but that should have been

done at the factory or it could be the carb is rubbish?

I would not buy another.
