Kitchen Review

It is now sone time ( 2.5years) since our kitchen has been fitted.

The design stage was rushed like i was buying bread in a supermarket. The designer?? was desperate to sell the kitchen before xmas 2019 and in deed it was fitted/finished just days before xmas. (Not quite finished) That itself was a stressful experience. But and there was a but——— if ii did not take the date i would have had to wait till february/march next year.So called very pushy designer got extra bonus for selling a kitchen in that year. I had about 30 minutes to decide on flooring on colours, on handles, wotrktop, appliances, etc…which was a substandard choice both thickess colour and quality. All the appliances were hugely overpriced I could have bought everything 40%cheaper in John Lewis off the shelf. I had to sign a contract there and then . The designer did not even had a decency to turn the page and bring to my attention rules and conditions of the contract.Overall standard of the design is poor and it is an exact copy what we had before. There was no new plumbing required at all. Price of the kitchen did not reflect that.

The price of the kitchen even after all this time feels hugely overpriced. Not good value for money at all.

I have not had a single praise from anyone liking my kitchen. Ashey Ann kitchen was and is a huge disappointment all due to a pushy designer not taking time to disscuss kitchen requirements in full abd allow time to think ut over.

Ashley Ann Glasgow - Aa Massive Disappointment

Following lots of research, we decided to use Ashley Ann Glasgow to install a new kitchen. We wanted to support a family run, Scottish company who appeared to have a fairly good reputation based on online reviews.

The initial sales experience was great; their designers came up with good ideas that we didn’t get elsewhere and their products in the showroom appeared of excellent quality. However, sadly this is where the good experience ended…

After requesting payment in full weeks before starting, work began on site on the agreed date. Removal of the old kitchen was fine, but the problems started on day 2 once the new units started to arrive.

It was clear that there were some measurement issues that would lead to changes in the kitchen design and also doors, panels and kick boards arrived chipped or damaged. Our so called “perfectionist” installer decided to fit them and say nothing. When we raised this with Glasgow office, they suggested that they would just paint over the chips and scratches so that “you wouldn’t notice”. Unsurprisingly, this wasn’t the case and you could clearly see the paint strokes on the units.

After reluctantly agreeing that the above wasn’t acceptable, Ashley Ann ordered new parts for us; however, many of these arrived damaged a second time and even a third time leading to significant delays in the works. Other problems we experienced included flooding from a poorly installed washing machine, no heating or hot water, rubbish left in back garden for several weeks and issues with the electrics. The poor quality of workmanship, product and service was totally unacceptable.

At every stage in the process, communication was terrible. We constantly had to chase for answers rather than being kept up to date with developments. Ashely Ann made us feel we were being unreasonable and in an inconvenience for wanting our kitchen to be finished. We were even told at one stage that our job was “not a priority” due to other projects that had just started!

It reached a point where we decided to make a formal complaint and were initially told to direct this the Glasgow office rather than head office in Wick. However, following no response, we sent the complaints to their Directors in Wick and, to this day, have yet to receive an acknowledgment, let alone a response.

Our job was initially estimated at 3 weeks but actually took 7 months. The works were completed approximately 5 months ago and as yet we are still to receive a formal apology or response to our initial complaint.

We would strongly recommend avoiding this company and felt that others should be aware of this experience as we used reviews to make our decision. Sadly, Ashley Ann Glasgow were a very bad choice.

One Star Is One Too Many

Following Brexit and the uncertainties around COVID-19, we elected to support a family owned and managed Scottish company. One with a culture of care “enabling delivering on the promise to guide the customer through a skilfully managed journey”. However, from the customer perspective, this project was nothing short of a complete disaster from the start.

It was clear from the outset that many basic measurements were inaccurate. Our clear instructions were sometimes ignored. Project management was woeful and the duty of care to the clients was way below an acceptable standard. The local Ashley Ann complaints procedure attempted to trivialise serious problems and silence the customer. Higher authorities at Ashley Ann Head Office were kept in the dark but when contacted were totally unresponsive. Direct emails went unacknowledged and were not replied to. We were obliged to wait weeks for a site visit from a senior member of management.

Some of the more important defects included: Shelving which did not fit. Housings and doors for fridge and freezer were the wrong specification and not fit for purpose. Wall fixings for tall units which were totally inadequate. The tumble dryer socket was fitted within the tumble dryer housing and did not comply with safety guidance from the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Work began on 13th Sept 2021 and was finally finished on 9th Feb 2022. It was accepted that "the standard of the initial installation was at best - poor" and that "measures have been put in place to support the inexperienced team in the Edinburgh showroom". It was down to the expertise of the senior fitters, who worked flat out for 3 days to finish a “four-week project” which lasted five months.

The Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report signing off the safety of the electrics was finally received in May.

To put it simply, Ashley Ann overpromised and woefully underdelivered. Complaint resolution was dire. Simply the worst company we have ever dealt with.

Use Ashley Ann, Don't Use Their Builder/fitter, Ygm Plum/bld

Remodelled Victorian ground floor flat. Completely new kitchen, bathroom, WC, and en suite. Ashley Ann designer and materials were excellent, 5 stars. Builder recommended and used, YGM Plumbing & Building, extraordinarily poor project management and service, 0 stars. Final result is good (joiner work excellent), but extremely unpleasant with which to work, and took an extra 4 months from estimate to finish, costing us a fortune in rent, storage, rescheduled moving costs.

Best Service Ever

We did not jump straight in to buy our kitchen from one specific company, we went to around 12 kitchen companies. We got ideas from many, it also made us aware of what we didn't want. However we went in to the small Ashley Ann shop, we were very surprised by the great kitchens and the first class service. All the design, colour choice and even changing my mind never fazed them at all. The managing partner, is outstandingly good, nothing is to much trouble. Tradesmen used were also fantastic, cannot tell you how pleased with the end result.

Ashley Ann - Quality Product And Service

I have moved house on several occasions but have always given Ashley Ann a chance to quote, although there is a myth that getting such a quality product costs too much and many people may by-pass this supplier in favour of larger national outlets. I am now into my third Ashley Ann kitchen, each time leaving a good standard of kitchen in the house I have sold.

It does make sense to shop around, but go back to Ashley Ann and allow their friendly staff to talk with you about your ideas for your dream kitchen, I have done this once again this year and believe I have just had installed a fantastic product, built to last at a very competitive price. Making best use of the space you have available is their speciality, where they can draw up computer generated plans to show you exactly what is on offer, moving things around at the touch of a button. I can’t recommend Ashley Ann enough, if you are thinking of a new kitchen, give them a call.

New Kitchen And Utility Room From Ashley Ann

In search of a new kitchen and utility room we started shopping around a few well-known companies but rejected them because of the poor quality of their cabinets or lack of inspiration on the part of the designer. We came across Ashley Ann Kitchens in Stirling quite by accident and decided to go in and see what they could do. From the first moment we walked through the door and saw the kitchens on display we knew that this company was something special. The innovation in their designs and attention to detail coupled with the fusion of different materials made us turn to each other and smile. We made an appointment on the spot for home visit by their kitchen designer.

A few days later the designer came to our house and listened to what we would like in a new Kitchen and Utility room. She asked us lots of questions, ensuring that she fully understood how we use the current space and how we would like to be able to use the new space. We both liked her right from the start; she was polite, well mannered and didn’t make us feel pressurised into making a sale. The whole process was like talking to a friend about a dream kitchen. She then took detailed measurements of our two rooms and said she would send us some computer drawings of how she saw our new kitchen and utility room.

A few days later, true to her word, the plans arrived. The designer had managed to incorporate all that we had suggested as well as a few design features herself – all of which we loved.

We arranged to meet her at the showroom in Stirling and discussed colours, surfaces, taps and door handles and then the all important cost. We had a price in mind and given the quality of the kitchens from Ashley Ann we thought that it may exceed our budget. We were pleasantly surprised when she told us what it would cost and it was within our budget.

The designer organized a joiner for us, again who was fantastic throughout the entire building works. The kitchen arrived and was fitted on time with minimal disruption to us and it looks outstanding.

I would have no hesitation in recommending her or the company Ashley Ann if you are considering a new kitchen.

Edinburgh Showroom - Poor Service, Couldn't Be Bothered

My husband and I took a day off work (Thursday 15th Oct) to go 'kitchen shopping', without our small children.

We visited the Ashley Ann showroom in Edinburgh, about 1.30pm. We were frustrated by the service received. After browsing by ourselves for a while, the showroom assistant came out and said, 'Hello, Have a look around, take a brochure, have a look at the internet site and if you want to speak to us, make an appointment', and went to quickly return to her office (to finish her lunch). My husband tried to engage her in further discussion, without success.

We appreciate its normal practice to make an appointment for a design meeting. We didn't want a design meeting. We just wanted an opportunity to ask a few questions, be told a bit about the company and their service.

This showroom assistant was obviously not interested in engaging with us, as customers. She made no attempt to find out our needs. There were no other customers in the showroom. Indeed, we had chosen to come mid-week, so it would be easier to speak with a salesperson.

We visited other independant and high-street showrooms that day, and without making an appointment, the service was friendly and helpful.

If this was my business, I would worry about feedback like this. How many other potential customers are discouraged by sales staff like this. Whilst I dislike 'hard-sell', our experience was completely unhelpful. It lets down the rest of the team. Ashley Ann had been recommended to us by a colleague, but we won't be returning after this.

Terrible Customer Service

I recently had a bedroom fitted and was ordered in Glasgow store from the beginning we had issues as after ordering and paying a large deposit we were advised a number of weeks later that they could not supply the handles we picked . We received a barrage of calls forcing us to pick other handles and Reminding us we had paid a deposit.we finally picked another handle we were very unsure of with no reassurance, we were scheduled for a two day fitting time it was actually 7 weeks before completion with one excuse after another. We had components of the bedroom that were damaged we had components missing we had shoddy workmanship (example screws showing on outer sides of cupboards ) we had a cabinet which was leaving no space between it and the shelf below. Following this we had to change the original plan of our bedroom and actually forfeited a cupboard. The Glasgow manager blamed her staff and the fitter and the fitter blamed the shop. We had at the time of ordering our bedroom also ordered a new sink unit for the kitchen which was offered as an incentive for our troubles on the day this was to be completed we were advised it had been measured wrong and didn't fit and when we contacted the shop were advised due to the fitter being sent back to fix the problems there had been a cost to them and they felt they had been fair. Really bad experience from this company that showroom looks professional but neither the staff or products are. Also beware if they offer you the fitting service slightly cheaper if you pay him direct as they then excuse themselves from all responsibility advising us the contract was direct with fitter this was not made clear at all. They also demand payment in advance of completion this is the big mistake we made as they have got you to ransom .

Rude Appalling Customer Service

We paid just under £10,000 to have a bathroom installed by Ashley Ann in Edinburgh. We also had a £29k kitchen on order. When faults developed within the bathroom we were subjected to the very worst customer service and even accused of lying. The fault with the bathroom remains in dispute although Ashley Ann insist it is not their problem. The distress we experienced from their treatment has led us to lose complete faith in the company and cancel the entire kitchen project even though we will lose our deposit. We are a household that includes two disabled people. The death of a family member and inheritance allowed us to attempt to future proof the house against the difficulties of my chronic illness ((MS) and to create a more positive environment for my autistic son. This process has been now entirely derailed. The stress as a family we have experienced has been a nightmare. We could not under any circumstance recommend this company.

Your opinion has been contradicted by independent plumbers. Your designer was most certainly made aware of the disabilities of the people in the house. Yes, we were initially pleased, but not after things began to go wrong. If only your dealings with us could have been as polite as this review suggests.

AshleyAnnEdinburgh

We are sorry that she feels this way however we must point out that the issue to which she is referring is in no way related to her bathroom installation. The issue, that the cold water stopped, was due to a build up of lime in her tank and that lime caused a blockage. As a matter of course as part of our installation guarantee, we investigated the cause and out of goodwill we temporarily removed the blockage by firing air into the pipe. She was advised that this was a temporary measure and that it would reoccur unless she replaced her tank. She did confirm that she was advised of this. As the tank has not been removed the lime caused another blockage and unfortunately as this is in now way linked to her bathroom installation we cannot provide any more help than we already have.

We must also point out that we were unaware of any disabilities within the household and that this had no bearing on how we worked within the property last October as we install professionally and with consideration on all installations. To further this point she and her partner were delighted with our installation of their bathroom and have happily engaged with us several times, both in showroom and on site in the past 5-6 months since we completed installation.

Again, we are sorry that she feels that her experience has been unsatisfactory but reiterate that we have helped as much as we can for an issue that is unrelated to Ashley Ann and wish her all the best in the future.
