Neptune Painted Kitchens Not Fit For Purpose

Perhaps I should have realised wihen the fitters left me a can of paint but within weeks the edges of almost all cupboards and drawers were showing white under our dark grey kitchen. After being ignored for many months I finally got a response after posting on line (same day!) and and some time they offered to repaint the kitchen with what they said was a harder wearing paint! We were of course happy when this was done until several weeks later the same thing started to happen.

Once again ignored for 5 months but finally got through to someone and asked for some small compensation as clearly the issue was never going to be resolved other than painting and touching up ourselves. They originally said they though it would not be a problem and asked for more photos but this time a view of the kitchen not just individual doors, but then went back on this implying not bad enough and damaged only in areas of high use ??? We are an elderly couple with no pets or grandchildren so doubt anywhere near high use and surely a kitchen should stand up to some wear and tear...Honestly wish I had saved myself thousands and gone to Howdens. This is not a high quality produce and the customer service is shocking so my advise go elsewhere

Lifetime Guarantee Is A Marketing Gimick

Don’t be fooled by the advertising offering a lifetime quality guarantee.

Several cracks on cabinet doors developed along the joint between outer and inner surfaces on our Limehouse kitchen. They have no interest in even looking at the issue when you seek rectification. All hype but no quality of service!

This refers to Neptune themselves not their agent who was efficient and helpful.

I have a Limehouse kitchen - purchased in 2015 - I have had nothing but problems with the doors splitting, and very poor customer service. The doors have been replaced twice so hopefully OK now.

Kitchen Of My Dreams

I bought my Neptune kitchen in Belfast. I was initially worried as I had had a bad experience with my other kitchen which was an indi kitchen. Do not ever use this firm. The kitchen designers at Neptune reassured me that they would go to great lengths to give me the kitchen of my dreams and I have to say that’s what they did. The fitter was fantastic and everything went smoothly. Anytime I needed to speak to the designer and if I had any worries it was dealt with. The kitchen was expensive but really worth the money and I can’t thank Gerard kitchen designer and the fitter enough they have done a great job.

Chesham Shop Great Service And Friendly Helpful Staff

Visited the Chesham shop on 3 occasions to buy small items mainly on sale, flower stems, hand soap, crockery, paint etc and found all the staff extremely courteous and friendly. Will definitely return to browse the beautiful items they have and get some decorating ideas. Haven't used the paint yet but hoping the coverage is good and colour true to what's on the chart.

Misleading Guarantee, No Communication- Avoid

Purchased a full design and install Chichester kitchen, and all appliances at £40,000, to be assured of a guarantee. A couple of years later we have misaligned cupboards that you need to lift to close, and an integrated fridge door that Is hanging off as clearly inadequate fitting (low level domestic use). Many emails, completely dismissed by Neptune with photo evidence, then told that we would need to pay £350 for them to come and fix their defects. Please note the guarantee states if you use your own tradesmen to fix their mistakes then you will invalidate the guarantee. Additionally they ignore all emails. I am currently escalating to trading standards.

Eggshell

My God, Neptune's eggshell is utterly rubbish, not hard-wearing and the coverage is truly shocking 'SNOW' colour took 5 coats to cover a white primer and undercoat, kitchen doors were originally a very light colour. Do not bother with this second rate company, customer service is bloody clueless too.

Neptune Shell Emulsion Paint

Always been a fan of Neptune but this time things went badly wrong. Bought shell paint for a very big refurbishment job, been in the trade for 50 years and we specialise in high end restorations so we like to think we know what we are talking about.

Anyway the colour was nowhere near the colour card and the client was furious, she had used the colour card to match sofas, soft furnishings, rugs and curtains. I'm afraid it was way off. Contacted Neptune who sat on it for almost a week despite our tight Xmas deadline. I then had to make a call and chose a Farrow and Ball paint with our client in order to complete the 6 month restoration on time for Xmas.

Neptune wanted to test samples etc and ultimately said the product is right, it is clearly not and offered me a refund on 1 tin of paint!!!

Very poor customer service indeed and I would advise any customers out there not to trust the colour charts, Neptune say they are a 'guide' to colour. Very disappointed indeed.

I couldn't agree more. I bought a tester pot of Navy to try out on my wall and needed more. I went back and got another two pots and they were a completely different colour. Having emailed them, I went into the showroom with the pots and the lining paper I had used to test them on. They agreed that the colours were completely different. I asked them what would happen if I bought the paint and it wasn't like the first pot. The assistant went to ask the manager (who couldn't even be bothered to come out to speak to me) and said it was my decision and therefore my risk! I could then potentially be left with a large quantity of paint that is not the correct colour. Don't Neptune have some form of quality control?? Why should I have to take the risk?? Very poor customer service, especially as I have just spent several thousand pounds on bedroom furniture with them. Really unimpressed.

Beware Poor After-sales Service

Kitchen fitted in 2014. Attachments to integrated freezer door have broken. Neptune state online that their kitchens have a lifetime guarantee. Neptune agree this is the case, but not if you’ve subsequently purchased a house which had the kitchen fitted by the previous owner, although the owner passed on all the receipts to us. So, in a nutshell, Neptune will not honour their so called ‘lifetime guarantee’. Even though the kitchen is only 4 years old. Always thought Neptune was a reputable company and worth spending extra on to have the peace of mind of the quality and after sales service, however, beware, this is not the case. Was considering ordering a new Neptune kitchen for a new home, but now will take our business somewhere else. Very disappointed.

So So Quality, Poor Post Sales

I should state at the outset that I have no relationship with either Belvoir Interiors of Newark on Trent, or Neptune (other than as a customer).

About 7 years ago we paid around £25,000 for Belvoir to install a new kitchen. The work was done well, though inevitably with a project that size there will be some snagging. This was done pretty efficiently and Belvoir were pleasant and expeditious to deal with.

The quality of the actual cupboards, drawers etc. seemed high and still generally seems so. Very pretty too.

After about 6 years two of the cupboard doors began to ‘sag’ i.e. becoming a parallelogram. It looked as though the joints were giving out as gaps were appearing around them. We took this up with Belvoir who took it up with Neptune.

Neptune said it was an installation fault in that the frames had been put in at such an angle as to stress the joints. Belvoir maintained the view that it was construction fault but nevertheless sent men out to look at the doors.

The men arrived and thumped the doors with heel of hand and each then became square. It seems obvious to me that the defect has arisen from weak gluing of the joints. They have taken the doors away to re-glue and reset the joints.

So what emerges from all this?

1. Belvoir Interiors come out very well. Their after sales service has been exemplary - courteous and helpful – and they have obviously seen the satisfied customer as a priority.

2. Neptune? Well, their customer service is poor; the initial instinct is to deny everything and blame someone else (even is the someone else was provided from their lists of installers). The quality is not absolutely certain and we now know their reaction to a reported defect. You have to search their publicity materials for a while to discover that the stuff is made in China. So it has the look of Chinese stuff got up to look like English craftsmanship (and with a very large marketing budget). If I was doing it again I think I’d consider alternatives, certainly from Belvoir (who no longer stock Neptune).
