Nightmare Experience
I work at a secondary school and have always have trouble in finding a reputable company capable of servicing our 19 sewing machines and 3 overlockers each year. In the past we have tried different companies and come to blows over either the work that was done, the quality of work, etc. I have now decided to look after them myself as after the last time they were sent away, they went to Sewing World. We had such trouble getting all the machines back, and waiting for parts, some of which have never arrived. Also, machines which went off with a problem, came back with the same problem as if nothing had actually been done. One machine actually had a part broken off when it arrived back. I asked for quotes for work on 3 machines which was done without agreement, and no quote was ever submitted, myself and a colleague rang them numerous times about queries, and the owner of the shop was always, either 'out' or 'using the other phone' so neither of us could speak to him, and when we were told he would ring us back he never did. This went on for months and months, and when we received their bill, it was for an extortionate amount, and there were also discrepancies with the prices for servicing we actually did manage to get.
We have never paid their bill as nothing was ever settled with them. They asked for payment once, and again 18 months later.
KEEP WELL AWAY. It seems to me that despite being a recommended Bernina dealer, they seem to no nothing about how to service machines.
Not sure if you will look back at this. I work at a local Upper School I would recommend West Wilts they always do our servicing. We have always been very pleased.

How Is This Shop Still Trading?!
I ordered a tailors dummy from this company in 2010, I waited 2 weeks with no delivery until calling to find out what was happening. I was told it was on its way, another week passed with no sign of it. Luckily I had paid by paypal so I immediately started a claim and after a few more weeks I was refunded...phew! But not before the shop staff tried to get me to close the case by saying they had the item ready to send. I was only about 15 miles from the shop so I told them I'd come and pick it up in person, to which they actually hung up the phone!!!
A few months after that and being fairly local, I thought I'd go in and see what it was like, maybe it would be ok to buy small supplies there. Not the case. This shop was then called sewing world, more like sewing hell.
I went in with the intention of buying some thread and zips, when I got there the shop was a total mess, items were strewn all over the floor, they hardly had any items in stock and when asked if there was more out the back the staff were abrupt and surly. The sewing machines on display were filthy and all over the place.
From that day to this I've not forgotten how unpleasant my contact with this company was, the reason I'm writing a review now is that I'm looking to buy a new Bernina machine and 'the sewing machine shop' (new name) came up on the official Bernina stockists list. At first I didn't realise it was the same place, thank goodness I looked at street view! I am actually going to email Bernina and ask why they are associating themselves, with what can only be described as, a bunch of pikeys.
I'm completely puzzled as to how on earth this shop still trades! I can only assume its because there are no other places selling machines locally and Bournemouth has the arts college, but whatever you do.....

Worst Shop Ever! Stay Away From It.
Still waiting for ordered items. Theyis shop is now trading under a different name. AVOID THIS SHOP COMPLETELY! Worst customer service I ever came across. I would not recommend it to anyone. Emailed and phoned several times. Most emails got ignored. The last time I was able to get hold of someone on the phone, I was told the shop had closed down and they didn't know anything about it and that I should contact my credit card company to try to get my money back. This was the same person I had spoken months before regarding same subject. AVOID!!!!!!!

" Disgruntled " Digitizing Embroiderer From 2014
Don't trust Sewing World Winton or whatever name they now trade under.
1. Janome MC11000se failed to resolve my machine issues.
2.They kept my Janome 1200 Professional Overlocker for several weeks & broke it. Broke the needle plate of my Overlocker & lied about not being able to get new one from Janome, I turned up at store unannounced to find a female staff in showroom trying to use the machine and clearly did not know how the thread the machine, I collected the machine and contacted Janome direct who sent me a new needle plate by next day delivery.
3.Sewing World ordered the wrong software upgrade costing over £300 which should have been £99, waited several weeks having been told they were out of stock at Janome, contacted Janome directly and was told Sewing World had ordered the software but not paid for it, Janome couldn't send it without payment; also the wrong software was charged for as I only required the up grade @£99 and not full version. I paid Janome direct over phone & arrive by next day delivery.
4.After several weeks of phone calls and emails to Sewing World for a full refund without any joy, I contacted Natwest fraud dept who investigated and made a refund the full amount successfully.
Never, never, never use this company again whatever name they trade under.
I bought felling machine of them in Oct and it broke after 5 months I reng them emailed them got him on phone and said he would send me his email never got through he said they were new company called The machineshop but I think he is saying this cause they got so many bad reviews cause they sold falty machines .I lost 290 euro and had to pay to get the heap of rubbish fixed 100 euro .
Interesting
For those of you who have lost machines or waiting for them to be returned from sewing world - take a look at gumtree - I have just seen many machines being sold from Bournemouth on gumtree can't be sure if it is sewing world selling them however they are the biggest sewing place in Bournemouth.

Do Not Use
My wife ordered several items late October, chased late November and advised Sewing World have gone out of business, but had conveniently re-opened 2 days later under different name using same address and telephone number
We where lucky as my wife ordered on-line just before website went under maintenance and so we have contacted our credit card company who have just credited the disputed amount.
WILL NEVER EVR USE THEM AGAIN

Wait, Wait, Wait...
I am still hoping for a good outcome to my sewing machine story, but it is looking less and less likely every day. How many times do I need to phone up to ask about my repair?
On one attempt to get info I was told the engineer was working on it at 'that very moment'- but still no news 4 weeks later. Maybe I'll get a call tomorrow and I will be able to add some extra stars.....
Take a look at my review - titled interesting posted today

No Goods, No Refund, No Response
Ordered sewing goods online, total value £8.95. Received a phone call saying that they were unable to fulfill order & that they would refer to the office for a refund. site has now been taken down, no response to emails and phone is not being answered. Don't touch this lot with a barge pole!!
