Started Well, Finished With Questions
I took a loan with hitachi and all was ok. I made extra payments to close this loan all the way, so on 27th of december i made a settlement payment and asked for the documents to be sent, the next day they came up with another figure to settle this loan and i paid what they asked but with one condition. i asked a written explanation of how this extra payment occurred and a detailed payment history with it. They sent the explanation email but the detailed payment history. Later i logged in to my account and i got really annoyed by this company as it was showing a balance as well as next monthly payment with a due by date so my loan was still active yet they sent me an email saying loan was settled, if i leave this balance, it will only incur extra interest on top of it every day, in my experience i felt that this company took more money then they should, i called them many times but waiting time was 30min to 1 hour (sometimes i had to give up waiting as i work also) , so it is not easy to reach them even by using internal messaging system on their website, it is a big problem if you cant reach to someone. this is such a company which they can cause problems to anyone who would like to finish their loans earlier. I am still waiting for an answer as i told them they have to send me the payment history to show me where that extra payment i made fits in even after the last settlement payment. It is certain that i will never get a loan from this company.

Awful Company
Great at the start, very easy for my car dealer to arrange loan. When it comes to customer service avoid the company like the plague, they would not speak to my dealer on the phone and only wanted myself to give me the details on how my car dealer can pay off the test of the finance to purchase a new car, terrible tried numerous times to call very long call times, emailed with no response finally got through after waiting for over 2 hours.

Excellent
Excellent loan company - low interest, a simple online application with an instant decision - the money was in my bank account the next working day. Highly recommend
Worse Finance Company
Back in February 2016 we signed an agreement with Hitachi and also sent off a power of attorney form and authorisation letter for me to act on behalf of my elderly parents. Today I received a letter from them with regards to a missed payment. So I rang Hitachi and they could not find the authorisation letter even though I had got an email from them confirming that the authorisation was in place. So after two hour battle got no where and the amount Hitachi wants to take is extortionate to what it should be. Their customer services tried their best but couldn't help and they just wanted to fob me off. so please avoid this company at all costs.

Utter Complaincy In Dealing With Lack Of Competence
I took out a loan with this company last year through Hilary Blinds, the agreement started to incur interest on 1st June 2016.
I had planned to pay this off by this date so I didn't incur interest.
I contacted Hitachi numerous times to change the direct debit and/or make payments.
Instead today i was told that the money i had paid them was sat waiting in my account and that they only took it out at the minimum amount each month!! Of course.. this meaning that i pay them the interest they want!!
I had to contact Customer Service EACH time because the website is utterly useless. Even on the phone with them this morning, the website kicked me out while on the phone.
I find myself surprisingly enough told that i have incurred interest for the 20 days over (not through my fault) and it is a hefty £200!
I asked for a complaints number and was told there is none. I asked for an email address and was told it was dealt with by the same team that i had issues with.
The Customer Service person had absolutely no interest in listening to my side of the story, instead she told me that they had emailed me numerous reminders. i told her - i had received one in October at the start of the agreement and one on the 20th April - where i had assumed that they had taken out the money i was sending them.
I then went on the website and found to my surprise a telephone number for the Complaints team. I then proceeded to explain the issue i had. Amusingly enough the story changed, apparently they have no record(!) of my email from the Account Online (sent when i did manage to get online at one point!). In the email i explained i wanted the final 3x payments taken on a certain date and closed out, figuring i'd rather get it done now.
I then said, okay so i know i've mentioned this during the calls, can you check back on them? I'm told she'll 'try' but to note that they only keep recordings for 6 months.... i told her considering these calls were made less than 6 months ago.. there should be no problem!! I can see where this is leading.. I told her to go check the messages and call me back.. but apparently my paying interest on something that's a blatant lack of competence on their part is not important enough. She'll send me a letter.
Utterly complacent and carelessness when dealing with customers and a blatant attempt at taking as much money from you as possible.
I bet i will not hear from them again..!
Additional note: i finally managed to sign back onto my account - and found that there is an additional payment showing for a further £377 today - not the amount mentioned as a final settlement! i've emailed to ask clarification and CLEAR, CONCISE detail on my payments - will wait some more..

Was Refused A Loan Simply Because My Email Is Poli
Was refused a loan simply because my email is polish. No further checks. Never had problems like that with any company before.
Beware Check Your Credit History
I recently discovered after being refused a loan by my bank after they had checked my affordability that Hitachi had placed a false credit rating on my file.
When I took out a loan with them just over a year ago for £20,000.00. They posted a debt of £36,000.00 onto my rating account.. This included all the interest due if I had allowed it to run its full course.. After paying down the loan with extra lump sums as of last month I only owed themt £3,000.00. My rating still showed I owed them £18,000.00. This was the remainder of the original loan plus all the interest figure originally calculated. I asked them to correct this misleading information which they refused. They required me to settle the £3,000.00 remaining before they would also cancel additional £15,000 .00 imaginary interest debt.
Needless to say I no longer have an account with them and would warn anyone to check what they actually tell the Credit Rating Agency's about your actual account with them. The Financial,Ombudsman are asking them to explain this policy..

Quick And Easy!
Really pleased with my recent dealings with Hitachi Personal Finance. I applied for a loan to fund a car purchase, the application process online was simple and gave me an instant decision of whether I was approved or not (I was!) and from there just simply e-signed the documents and the money was in my account within 24 hours! I got email updates from Hitachi to let me know when everything was in place and when the funds were released to me so I knew what was happening which was great. I have also signed up to online account management which gives you options to make payments, view balance, view settlement figures, change payment due dates etc. which is really good if you don't want the hassle of calling to do simple things.
One small point to note... the APR advertised on the website is 4% BUT this depends on your personal circumstances so do not automatically think you are going to get your loan at this rate. Mine came out slightly higher at 5.3% but compared to rates with other companies and banks etc. this is relatively low and the monthly payments are affordable.
A good tip! If you use Money Supermarket to compare loans this gives you an indicator of how likely you are to get a loan from each individual company and they do include Hitachi
