I have had a basic Whirlpool large load top loader for 20+ years - 2 machines in that time. Bought this as it was about £200 cheaper than the current Whirlpools which seemed to have become more complicated than needed with more functions that I didn't feel I needed. THAT WAS A MISTAKE ! Although I only use a few wash options my old machine was just small, medium and large load options and I could choose to just rinse and spin stuff. This seems to autosense the load but not fill with as much water - at least it hasn't yet despite having a full king size bed set plus several shirts and t-shirts. One wash load of 3 cushion inserts seems to have come out with all the fabric softener undissolved on them and there isn't an option to just put a rinse on - have to do a whole cycle again. So far the wash quality is ok but this just isn't as good as a basic 12 year old Whirlpool was. Spend the extra money is my recommendation. Incidentally Maytag is a Whirlpool product, so just think basic (Maytag), better and best Whirlpool.

Washing instruction are generic for several Maytag types, so nothing quite fits this model either.

Excellent! This Maytag is a high quality easy to use washing machine (even my husband can use it!).

It washes much more quickly and efficiently than my last two front loading machines. It senses the size of the load and fills the machine with the correct amount of water accordingly. It's quieter than the previously mentioned front loaders and it's very easy to balance the loads and so runs very smoothly.

It's large load capacity means you don't have to wash as often, whites or coloured washes done in a single wash; as opposed to two or three loads in a machine of a smaller capacity for the same wash type. It has even washed a king sized duvet with ease!

Admittedly, this larger free standing washing machine needs a little more room than its smaller front loader counterparts, but if space isn't an issue its advantages far out weigh the size issue.It's easy to load or unload, no more bending double scrabbling for the last item which has disappeared to the back of low horizontal drum; you can add an item very easily even if the wash cycle has commenced & the quality of the wash is brilliant
