Unable To Identify My Wife From Supplied Passport Details!

My wife tried renewing her driving licence online but her application was rejected because the DVLA couldn't identify her from her passport details: passport renew within the last 4 years.

The DVLA is a joke and another example of an incompetent, useless and lacking in any customer service government department. It should be subjected to an independent review and the head civil servant and his management team given 3 months to sort out the mess and if they fail sacked from their jobs.

Update to my review. The DVLA's 'This is a system generated acknowledgement - Do not reply to this email' response to my wife's complaint is totally meaningless and useless. It waffles on about postal applications, applications already sent and V5 matters. There is nothing about online applications which my wife's was. Whoever wrote the 'system generated acknowledgement' needs educating on ALL DVLA driving licence application methods, in particular, online ones and told to rewrite the acknowledgement to include online queries. If they can't, then moved to a job where they can demonstrate their competent and get someone else to rewrite the acknowledgement so it is useful to all applicants.

They Are Going Against Me By Saying Photo Wasn't Signed When

Dvla returning application by saying photo wasn't signed when photo was signed by a friend of mine. Should not be allowed to treat people unfairly dvla should be shut down

What an absolute shambles. Sent licence off at doctors request 6 weeks ago. Due to only fatigue. Just got letter today at stage one even though all evidence of the event sent to dvla weeks ago. Rang to ask for update. No information yet as All have to apparently be scaned to my case and this can take up to ten days. I am weeks ahead of them.

House due to be repossession as not able to work. Mental stress created from this team is unbelievable. Sure thay get pleasure from from destroy of working peoples lives with power of control.

shocking support, shocking customer service.

My hart goes out to anyone who has to go through this medical service department.

If you not sick you will be after this department handles your case.

Update on the 02/09/23 time 9:25 am

This is now SIX weeks in.

Just rang up for an update after DVLA requested I give the ten days after sending in recorded delivery all doctors reports, medical reports from Neurology doctors paid private to get as well as cardiology reports. All needed to be added to case.

Update today was.

Dvla doctors who are not as qualified as an Neurology doctors need more information. Even though letters sent fit to drive. With an point noted "do not drive tired"

Had to raise an complaint case also logged along side my case number. Cas-0341414-S3F2B. Also had zero responce since 26 August 2023.

Will update all questions asked so everybody can see how poor this service is.

Reality check for me. As an mobile field engineer not able to work falling behind on bills, MORGAGE as ssp payment £400. Pcm.

Dvla responce nothing we can do? It takes time to process each case and we do not have the resources to proceed any faster .

As stated at start. My hart goes out to anyone who has to deal with this department.

Just sent email to watchdog. Fingers crossed able to highlight are uk system in the public eye.

Dvla medical department. looking forward to see if this person who has required more information who has NOT except the advice off my medical reports and cardiology and Neurology reports and all evidence sent in can play god with people's life's. This is in my opinion is an power issue and will look forward to updating all on outcome of extra information thay want on here.

Update on 5/09/23

Update, After last conversation with dvla on Saturday the. 2/09/23 was told paperwork was being sent out second class, asking for more information. I can confirm still waiting?.

Dvla. Why can't you just email me them? You would have had information back by now. And as done electronically. I will then not have to wait an extra ten days for you to scan information back to my case.

Omg just had a letter back dated 31/08/23 DVLA reference number

Rej no: 24308240003.

All information sent including medical notes etc has been return back to me with an letter saying I did NOT enclose an cheque for £90 and said have NOT sent an photo to renew my licence with the D1 form sent. Which clearly ticked as for medical reason.

Looks like I now have to apply for an new driving licence.

Is this correct?

As for complaint raised reference Cas-0341414-S3F2B still NOT had any communication. What an waist of time.

Will update after conversion with DVLA tommorow to explain what on earth is going on.

Up date on the 7/09/23.

Rang dvla to dispute over £90 payment plus £11 cost of postal order at there request. Plus £10 new photos plus £6:50 postage recorded delivery and was advised was an mistake and should have been £17:50 for photo update. If done on line would be free of charge.

Back home today and and had an DVLA request to fill out previous form allready sent in form G1 and FEP1 also SL1. With an letter attached saying Must be return within 14 days as licence will be revoked permanently.

Told at this point will now take up to five weeks. Today to update.

I am now SIX weeks in plus an extra 5. But no action from me within 14 days have the right to cancel my license. What a joke.

Dvla also been told my case per call and update will be put on here to show there performance.

Will update soon

Had to chase on line today to try and chase update on complaint raised. Cas-0341414-S3F2B. Had to log an complaint against the complaint department. What an joke.

DvLA know all info is going on this page and I do believe all poor action is down to me logging on here and is being done deliberately. Let's hope all comes out in time.

Worst Service Imaginable

Website times you out every 30 seconds so be quick. Asks for a ton of information then tells you they can't find your details. Oh so my passport details, national insurance, full address history, mother's maiden name, driver number aren't enough then?

They have a web chat which makes you answer a bunch of incomprehensible questions then says they'll put you through to an assistant but the assistants aren't available even though it's in the middle of supposed operating hours.

Then you phone them up (all you want to do is change one detail on your driver's license). They don't bother to tell you that you can't change your address on the phone until 5 minutes into the call.

My husband changed his name on his driving license and sent all the relevant documents in December, we are almost April and still waiting as they’re useless and forgetting to do their job properly.

We’re ringing multiple times a week, they’re saying we don’t know where the license is, although it was send recoded delivery.

The best thing every time you als them to give their Maneger they’re just hanging the phone on you. They’re forgetting that they’re public Cervantes.

He is unable to work since almost over 3 months now. What kind of government do we have??? Is there anyone from the government, who would ask them, what are they doing all day???

Brilliant Service !

I had been living abroad for over 20 years I only had a copy of my paper licence - once i found the DVLA personal email service, life was much easier . It’s not easy to find on the website but it was really efficient - not only was my licence lost, my address had changed and even worse my old postcode that was on my licence had changed - so I couldn’t complete the online application form

DVLA emails were so helpful and told me exactly what to do and I was then able to renew my licence on line - and it was delivered in 6 days

5 star service

I know DVLA gets lots of criticism so I wanted to say how pleased I was - but don’t try and phone them I tried for weeks !!
