Pure Evoke 3

I love this Pure Evoke 3 radio because you can record any programme to listen to later. I listen to recordings every night.

My concern now though, is that every time I switch on there seems to be a short in the electrics making an explosive sound. Is this dangerous I want to know? Could it cause a fire? I love the fact that you can pause on a programme, and fast/forward bits.

I hope someone can advise me.

Good radio, does what it says on the tin, can pick up load of channels, the style is good and so is the functionality, easy to handle and small enough to fit anywhere.

I like this radio, a little expensive at £120 or something like that, can't totally remember how much it was but I felt that it was expensive, but it does what it says on the tin, works well, sound is ok, it picks up allot of stations, and I also like the style.

I bought one of this for my wife for the kitchen see that she doesn't really like the kind of music I listen too, I must say that it a nice little radio, very easy to tune in and quite compact and solid but pretty small, in fact it doesn't take much space at all. It's a good little device that just lacks a bit of power in sound, but if you're looking for a simple digital radio then this is ideal.

After working excellently for a while with great sound quality, it now shows all the evidence of the fault that so many other users have come up against. Any power interruption causes the set to go into 'Waiting for software upgrade' mode and it is a swine to get back. The instructions given by Pure are misleading and border on being just plain wrong. The software patch you download contains instructions that have no semblance in reality. Pure of course, deny it's their problem (Out of guarantee pal, shame. Can't touch that, more than me jobsworth).

Bough this as a christmas present, keeps cutting out never worked properly. Sound quality is really poor.

The value of Pure Evoke 3...Choosing radio stations from a list rather than frequency is a stregth that comes with this device, further more if you are in an area with good reception then you will be able to recive quality radio as the signal is ree from interference. Its price can also be considered as fair and thus making it a cheaper option. Despite this, I would say, more futures need to be added in future models.

I bought a Pure Evoke-2 radio for a Christmas present for my wife about 2 years ago. Unfortunately, although we live in the metropolitan area of Perth, there is no reception. I think that this may be because of a steep hill behind our house. I know nothing about radios and how the waves are transmitted. What I do know is that, although digital radio has been spruked as being the best thing since sliced bread, and from what I've read, the Pure radio is the best, the one I bought doesn't receive anything other than crackles and pops. I wrote to Pure when wew first got the radio asking about aerials but didn't get a reply, so the radio has spent the last couple of years in a cupboard. My wife got it out the other day and said we might as well sell it. Before I put it on ebay I thought I'd write to Pure again. I left a message on their facebook site but have heard nothing yet.

My advice to buyers of digital radios, whatever the make, would be, to ask if they will accept a full refund if the radio doesn't work where you live.
