JBL Control 5

I was introduced to jbl whilst working a nightclub in the 1970's we were using 4 4355 studio monitors,as thats where my addiction to Jbl started ,I am a jbl fan not one speaker in my home or headphone enters my house unless itbis jbl. I server 25 years in radio using jbl monitors and have come well accustomed to the distinct Jbl sound. I have 10 Jbl control 5's scattered with the matching sb5 sub and it serves and performs just as well as my 1200 watt nightclub set up at lower volumes of course, but you be surprised how loud and clean Control 5 can perform! I have sold many on Jbl ,I know there are other competive brands out there, but when you know the best forget the rest!

I have owned these speakers (monitors)for over 30 years. The '80s speakers are known to be amongst the finest ever manufactured by JBL. I used them in a recording studio, as studio monitors for many years, that is what they were designed for. I now use them for hi-fi. The sound they produce can only be described as awesome! Being involved in the music industry I'm amazed that more audiophiles have not cottoned on to these pieces of audio mastery. When I first set them up in my house, my wife came in from work and I was listening to people talking on a radio station, she stayed in the kitchen for 10 mins or so, because she thought I had a meeting going on in the lounge. Yes speech sounds like

very good with dance.vocal is central and very real,fast tight bass but splashy top end.goes very loud.

There is a general absence of reviews of the JBL Control 5 loudspeaker, perhaps because this model is targeted at professional or commercial markets, so I wanted to share my experiences.

My Control 5 speakers are used to play high quality FLAC files, in some cases exceeding CD audio quality, and are currently connected using QED Micro cable to a Rotel RA-02 amplifier.

The sound quality, far exceeding the RRP, is exceptional and these speakers endear themselves to you immediately (o the extent that I am willing to forgive the naff but capable spring clips.)

I have spent thousands of GBP on hifi hardware over the years. Believe me when I say that these are truly capable speakers!

I have had my JBL Control 5 for the last 15 years with the control 5 sub woofer as well simply the best! It has a dynamic range,awesome clear sound not screechy

I have the JBL Control 5 and used them for years. Sound is very natural and clean you can mix some great sounds from these speakers.

using them for 5.1 is great (using a sub as well)

there power is great for there size and they do go loud.

the bass response is strong and is amazing how low they go for a 6 and half inch speaker.

but given they are driven buy a good amp with at least 150 rms (MAX RATING 175 rms) they will play all day and night loud and clear.

they are a amazing monitor for what thay are but that's JBL thats what there being doing for years and years.
