Dont Be Fooled By The Size

These tiny speakers never disappoint, I have a selection of high end speakers but believe me as the reviews said, they will be the last thing you want to upgrade . I bought my Missions at a bargain price of £30 and still cannot believe how good they are despite being twenty years old .Obviously a wife choice being smaller than a shoe box size , Transparency ,punch ,imagery, detail they do it all go seek a pair great on a Quad 606 high power amp and Cyrus 8x cd player ,despite a 75 watt handling capacity

Like The 760i The 760i Se Should Be Used No Where

like the 760i the 760i se should be used no where near a rear wall,in this positon there is little depth of sound stage and a generel cluttering of instruments and vocals and the bass is softer and less tunefull all adding up to an uninteresting sound. However give them some space at least 1mtr from the rear wall and at least 8ft apart and you get huge sound stage from all dimentions with a well defined deep powerfull tunefull bass.Tow the speakers in towards the listening position, which should be further than the gap between the speakers and your half way there. The other half is these tiny speakers must be used on the very best solid heavy stands you can afford.I use the linn majik stand which came with my majik 109 speakers and make a hugh difference to the sound of the 760i se,s these speakers also respond very well to quality amps ive triedthem with my cyrus, audiolab 8000a cyrus 8,and naim nait,s 1,2 and 3 and my latest amp the linn majik i with dynamik power upgrade this amp is 100 watts per side and is the best intergrated i have heard at any price and the 760 i se just love it sounding even bigger with power and seperation and a very realistic sound. For £150 when new they were a steal,i got mine from ebay for£50 in good condition. If you can live with the looks and want revealing musical power hungry monitors seek them out give them what they need and they will reward big time dont waste £600 or so on new speakers, yes they are that good!I used them non bi wierd with linn lk20 cable plugged in the top two posts with a selction of cd players from marantz, micromega, cyrus and linn.

This Review Is For The 760se Which Cost £150

This review is for the 760SE which cost £150 new in the early 90's. These Mission speakers will only be available second hand now, but would be worth a purchase if the price is right. I listened to the standard 760 in the shop after reading a five star magazine review & was so disappointed, lack of bass or treble - they just sounded boring!! The guy at the Hifi shop them suggested I listen to the SE variant & I was amazed at the difference. The most noticeable difference was the bass being far fuller & richer going incredibly deep for the size of the tiny enclosures. The sound as a whole was very impressive for the price so I bought them, along with some expensive 'Sonic-link' AST bi-wire speaker cable & took them home. At the time I had a Yamaha Amp, CD player, Tuner & later a Project turntable & Apollo speaker stands. I was really pleased with the sound & loved listening to any music through them - especially rock & acoustic music. They really did everything they should very well & for £150 they where an absolute steal!! I eventually upgraded to a pair of fantastic Mission 751's which took my Hifi in general to a totally different league & made the 760SE's sound a bit shut-in in comparison, but the 751's did cost over twice price so the side-by-side test was unfair to say the least!! I would recommend the Mission 760iSE to anyone who is setting up or venturing into hifi separates & can find a pair reasonably priced - you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended!!
