Lite-On 48x24x48 - Good points: Very easy to use, the cds copied are reliable. There are no frequent skips, quiet to use and the price is affordable.
Bad points: It breaks easily. I used it for less than a year (with no frequent copier usage within that period).
Overall it's quite good mid range CD-burner.

This Liteon 48x24x48 Cd Writer/rewriter Was Purcha
This Liteon 48x24x48 CD writer/rewriter was purchased from a shop last December for £48. Installation was easy, Nero was included in the price, it is totally XP compliant and clone cd friendly. It is disc weary!, I had a spindle of 40x white top cdr's and it would not offer 48x in the drop down Nero box. This was strange as I had some older 4x speed TDK that would burn quite happily at 48x.
It is a better reader than my DVD drive, less install errors on well worn discs etc. I know that Liteon is not regarded in the same light as Plextor, but having said that; it has never let me down and has happily burnt what I wanted when I wanted it!
If value and reliability are your key factors for buying a brand - then honestly look no further than this unit - 100% recommended.
It will copy at 48x and re-write at 24x and read and 48x, interestingly enough there is a 52x version out and the only difference is the firmware update - so you could theoretically turn the 48x unit into the 52x version - is it worth it? probably not.
