Very Cool Piece Of Kit But The Freeview Picture Qu
Very cool piece of kit but the freeview picture quality is blockier after it's been passed through this than if viewed directly on a TV. The dual aerial lead requirement is a real pain, other Freeview+ boxes can do dual tuners with just one input so why not the HDHR?
Would love to see a FreeSat capable box in the future.

Silicondust Is A Great Product Which Does Pretty M
silicondust is a great product which does pretty much what it says it will. It definitely ends arguments as to who watches what and were, although performance over a wireless network it obviously patchy. Regular updates to the software/firmware make the solution quite compelling as each release show definite improvements. I have no hesitation in recommending this product.

Initially I Had Multiple Issues With The Hdhomerun
Initially I had multiple issues with the HDHomeRun but these were related to using a Gigabit switch and the quality of the incoming signal. I had another issue recently which was an incompatibility of some other software and the HDHomeRun this was easily resolved by uninstalling the HDHomeRun software and reinstalling. The Beta Releases for software and firmware are very frequent... it just gets better. I was very close in giving it a 5 star rating for quality, for some of the common issues I would have liked to be able to find the solutions easier. For value if you want it for a single PC then a TV card would be a cheaper option.

Bought Silicondust Hdhomerun To Build Into A Windo
Bought SiliconDust HDHomeRun to build into a Windows 7 Media Centre... but first tried to check it out via my Mac. Mac users - forget it! The Mac software is lousy and simply doesn't work - and the forum users don't have any input that is worthwhile. Buy an elgato product for your Mac - they work, they are easy, they are cheap.
It works well in the Windows 7 Media centre - but you have to keep up to date with the software and firmware updates (W7 is, of course, beta - so a few issues are to be expected). Picture quality is great .. not quite as good as a top of the range PVR on a Pioneer 50" 1080 telly .. but almost! And integrated beautifully into the Media Centre interface.
Mac's = NO! Windows - OK!

Hdhomerun Is A Useful Bit Of Gear To Solve The Pro
HDHomeRun is a useful bit of gear to solve the problem of TV aerial wiring. You put it wherever your aerial connection is, and connect it to your network, then you can have TV on any computer on the network. Price isn't too bad as you get 2 tuners in one box for £ 149. I've had it running happily on Windows 7, which is reassuring - installation was very straightforward, a 10 minute job. Quality of pictures is excellent, and it doesn't use much network bandwidth so you can run it over a reasonable wireless network no problem.

Very Good Bit Of Kit Works Well But You Do Have To
Very good bit of kit works well but you do have to have a reasonable understanding of software to get it working well under linux e.g being able to build the gui tool. Once done the supplied software is basic but works. Mythtv is a little flakey with it although this is just because it's the european version of the HDHR. On windows it's starting to become more reliable with gb-pvr but make sure you get rid of old installs of GB-PVR before installing the new version or you have problems getting picture from the HDHR. I have used media portal with the HDRM and when it's working this great but the software it's self needs a lot of work on it. I gerneral I would say that it very good and with people like the MythTV communicty working on supporting it, SiliconDust HDHomeRun get better and better.
