Epson Stylus Photo Rx420 Make No Doubt

Epson Stylus Photo RX420

Make no doubt about it, this is the worst piece of hardware that I have ever bought. But just to clear up a few issues for those poor souls who bought this horrid thing...

1. Printer only prints half the page and paper fed in at an angle:

rx420 tries to detect page size automatically, if the paper is flush to the left it assumes its half its actual width. Paper needs to be flush to the right and the "PAPER EDGE GUIDE" on the left moved towards the paper on the right for a snug fit.

More here http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Inkjet/Epson-Stylus-Photo-RX420/Drivers-Support?target=article&extn=.html&articleId=1412

2. Ink consumption and black ink only

Epson does it damndest to make you use as much ink as possible, there no doubt about this, but there are options. In printer preferences you can click advanced options and check the black ink only option, its worth playin around here because you can set up your own quality options. Buy jettec ink 100% more pages for half the price and a better product. (no good rewarding epson for a shoddy printer - hit em where it hurts)

This Printer Is Absolute Trash Avoid At All Costs.

This printer is absolute trash avoid at all costs. I have just put it in the bin after just 2 weeks, it drains ink like so other printer you will ever buy oh and if you just want to do black printing if any off the colour cartridges are empty or close or even half full it says replace cartridge. You can have colour cartridges in and even if you don't use them once they will run out and you will need to replace. This printer was only bought for black and white printing nothing else and I could not of made a bigger mistake, i will just buy a black and white laser printer in future they are the best, colour inkjets nowadays just want you to keep buying cartridges even though they are mostly full, the manufacturers are robbing ****** if anybody knows of the software available to wipe the chip that is on the ink cartridges so that it is possable to make the printer think the ink is full then let me know in a review of this product.

Thanks

I Bought This Epson Rx420 Printer From Comet After

I bought this Epson RX420 printer from Comet after a chat with the salesman as to what was a good all round printer.Within 2 days,it had started to print randomly & went back for repair. After being returned,i had to buy some more ink as it had apparently used it in the repair process.....

Summary since then:Very heavy on ink usage-clarity of colour when printing is not very good (ie:lots of light red & blue where there shouldn't be) - & now, having recently changed the ink cartridges (AGAIN....)it has suddenly put the ink light on & whatever i try & do to reset it,the darn thing won't go out...

Will be buying an HP next,as Epson have obviously not got to grips with the quality side of things...........

I Paid Under £50 For The Rx 425 Just Over T

I paid under £50 for the RX 425 just over two years ago. For its specification it was cheap. I had an Epson printer before that and was happy with that. I was moved to write this review when I saw the overall hugely negative reviews that have gone before. I am at a loss to understand how the reviews can be so bad unless people are reviewing what is a budget machine using premium machine expectations.

This Is A Budget Printer That I Picked Up Cheaply

This is a budget printer that I picked up cheaply for under £50. I get Think+ cartridges from Choice and their performance is identical to the originals at a fraction of the price. The only reason I wrote this review was because I was amazed by the hugely negative tone of most of the earlier reviews.

Epson Seems To Be A Big Brother Company Which Adds

Epson seems to be a big brother company which adds spyware to your system. Never again. If you want a printer that always lets you down when it is most important, buy an epson. Any excuse, it stops.

I Wish I Never Bought It. I Only Wanted A Simple P

I wish I never bought it. I only wanted a simple printer. Was persuaded by slick salesman to get rid of my cheap, small, perfectly working HP. Now (because I have not yet accepted that it is a dud and I need to get rid) I have no working printer, which has caused untold hassle in my life and career. Never again

I Have Owned Many Epson Printers And Found Them Al

I have owned many epson printers and found them all to be very good, yes they do use a bit too much ink and yes it is expensive, but I only use genuine cartridges and have never had blocked heads etc. I am still using my epson r200 very succesfully and print most days.

Q&A

margaretwatkins

When taking out a yellow cartridge to replace with a new one a small piece of black plastic flew out. It is only under an inch long and has two slots in the middle. I can't find where it came from. Although the new yellow cartridge went in ok the red light is still on and it wont perform the charging system. I can't find where this bit came fro but must have a bearing on my problem. Can you help? Never had this happen before. Thanks.
