A Good Basic Inkjet Printer, Clone Ink Is Cheap &

A good basic inkjet printer, clone ink is cheap & reliability is good. My old canon BJC200 & 2000 did not have 'new' usb cabling so, when pc changed, I used this old Epson Stylus C40 Plus...why spend £20 on new printer's inks when an old horse will do the trick at £4 each?

This Printer Is Playing Up Yet Again And I've Deci

This printer is playing up yet again and I've decided that the best way to deal with it, is to push it in the bin and get a different make. It's an 'inkaholic' in my opinion and I just cannot keep up with its demand for more and more black ink cartridges. Its demand for constant head cleaning after clogging up for no apparent reason means that most of the precious ink is completely wasted. Whatever the problem is with this model, it's the same as the other C40 that I had. I got this one on-line about two years ago and, just like the previous one, everything appeared to be fine, but it didn't take long to follow in the same footsteps. I would never buy an Epsom printer again.

I Find The Epson Stylus C40 Plus Much Better Than

I find the Epson Stylus C40 PLUS much better than the Canon that I had, as I used to have to take out the black ink to put in the colour where this is much simpler.

And the print out is good.

This Printer Has Got To Be One Of The Worst Items

This printer has got to be one of the worst items you can buy for your PC. I have owned one for a year now, and here are just a few problems I have had.

The Epson Stylus C40 Plus is a very noisy printer, which will print a typical page of black text in around 1min 30secs, a document with text and colour graphics in 2mins and a A4 photo in no less than 5mins. There are several different print quality settings to choose from, however, even when set to "photo Enhance", the results are dissapointing. The printer is prone to jamming, and Epson's new chipped cartridge design means that unless the cartridge has a special chip, the computer won't recognise the cartridge. This was brought in to stop people using the compatible cartridges, which are a lot cheaper, and deliver identical results to the originals. Original cartridges can cost from £15, wheras compatibles, from £3. A cartridge (Black or Colour) with little use can last, at best, 1 month. The large design makes fitting it into a small area or onto a desk with a small amount of space difficult. And finally, I have had the Stylus C40 Plus replaced once already when it stop working properly. The second time this happened on the replacement, Epson refused to send me a replacement, and said that I had to either pay to get it fixed, or to buy a new printer. The best buying advice I can give you, is to avoid this model of printer.

I disagree. For the money I paid this printer is a bargain. No problems so far, but I do use this for very low volume printing. The reviewer is correct that it is noisy, but it certainly gives a lot of bang for the buck. I'm happy with my purchase.
