Still Working
I've had my 840 C for about 16 years. I have managed to get drivers for it for Windows 7 and 8. It is harder to get ink these days. It is strictly a home printer for limited use. If you are looking to print multi-page documents on a regular basis it is not the machine for you.I also have a D1663 that was free with a laptop I bought 4 years ago.I stuck in the closet and went back to my 840C enough said.

I Have Had This Printer For About 10 Years. It Has
I have had this printer for about 10 years. It has not given me any trouble and meets all my printing needs. Using glossy paper produces fantastic results from photos. I have printed on paper from 8og to 160g without any problems at all. My only gripe, and this applies to all inkjet printers, is the exorbitant cost of the ink cartridges. It is about time their price was reduced by at least 50 percent, especially with the colour cartridges when it is usually only the yellow which runs out!
I agree with what you said. HP printers are on top of the game when it comes to print quality, stability and reliability. Some printers are only good on brochures and advertisement. But once you use it, then it begins to perform like "grrr".
Thanks for this review and congratulations on using this printer for so long.

Very good quality for a not so high price. I am very happy with it, if you want lightning fast printings, just organize your time previously... it is somehow slow but the quality is very good for this basic printer

The Hp Deskjet 840c Is A Terrible Printer. It Is C
The HP Deskjet 840C is a terrible printer. It is cheap, but not even worth it. Extremely slow...takes 3-5 minutes to print one page, and it isn't even that old. Seriously I would not recommend it. Yes it can print in color and it is durable, but when trying to print an essay for school or work or pictures, definitely not a good idea. Also...it constantly jams up and once you turn it off during a printing session or delete the printing task, it starts using up all your paper printing some kind of weird webding sort of things that are 2 lines per page. Waste of $ and paper.

I Have Had This Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840c Inkje
I have had this Hewlett Packard Deskjet 840C inkjet printer for one and a half years. It is a very basic and slow (but cheap) printer. Not for printing 200 pages in a row. Very satisfied with it. Very good quality of printing. Use it mostly in ink saving mode, which is also the fastest, but have also printed scanned (with resolution of 1200x1600) from 35mm color film photos on A4 Pelikan Photo Paper and they really look good. Of course it is slow, and therefore not for the professional or heavy duty use. And no problems with reliability so far. Touch wood.
