McAfee VirusScan Home Edition 8.0

I got a free trial of Mcafee when I bought my laptop and decided to buy the year package. All was well until I got a virus. I tried scan after scan which failed to remove the virus. I then contacted the support service- which was totally useless. I contacted the service centre, managed to figure out what how to contact- incomprehensible instructions.I sent email after email -no response. I then phoned up the service and again incomprehensible and no use.Through my own efforts, I got rid of the virus. Won't be renewing my subscription.Be careful if you have a subscription- make sure you cancel your sub, otherwise it will be automatically deducted. I would liked to have known the quality of service before I bought the protection.

Annoying, gets in the way and still misses baddies.

MCAFEE ANTI VIRUS

I have had Mcafee virus protection since 2007, the reason I bought it was my 2 computers were riddled with bugs and pop-ups. I had tried all the other virus protections and nothing worked properly, so I just rang Mcafee and explained that I was the dumbest person on the planet and what could they do. A great Canadian person rang me back and they installed the McAfee software on my computer from their desk, this software is so simple: green ticks on the websites which are safe, grey for might be ok, and red for no, and boy does the red one work because McAfee will not let you in, the same goes for e-mails. By the way within 24 hours I had no bugs and no pop-ups. I have the McAfee icon installed on my desktop and if I want another protection I just click, eg blocking sites for children etc. Touch wood I have had no trouble whatsoever since I have had this software installed. I don't know what they do but they seem to do a lot of updating and to be honest I don't care as long as my computers do not go down and are protected, they also back up for me. By the way it costs me £30 pr year for this and e-mail to tell you when the renewal is due, in my book you can't beat it and I think that every family with children should have this to prevent their children from accessing sites they shouldn't be in.

I made the mistake of buying McAfee Virus Scan Plus as a download in March 2009.

It didn't install but did remove existing protection.

Their help desk is next to useless and their customer service is so bad as to be laughable!

I had to take time off work to deal with the problems McAfee caused.

When I wanted to get my money back, I was told that it was not McAfee's problem & would need to contact a sister company.

When I asked for details of thier complaints department, I was told there was no telephone number or email address. All I was offered was a postal address in Holland.

It has been nearly two months since I wrote to them and I have had no response. I think this is APPALLING!

I installed this McAfee VirusScan Home Edition 8.0 software and it gave me a virus!! I called the tech support and they said they would fix it for either $69.95 or $89.95 depending on which option I wanted.

McAfee VirusScan Home Edition is dreadful, repeatedly failed and had to be reinstalled. Help service next to useless they just do not seem to get it?!! do not recommend unless you like a hard time.

Slows down PC quite a lot. Look also at the reviews of this on AV-Bulletin. Scary! It misses lots of viruses.

This is the market leader? Must spend all their R&D money on advertising!

McAfee VirusScan Home Edition 8.0 used to be OK, but the last year has been a nightmare, I have spent hours reinstalling perhaps a dozen times.

Then to make matters worse there is a thing in the small print which they use to recharge your credit card each year to get the next subscription. They do this without asking, and even do it after your card has expired even when you refuse to give them new card details, a matter I have taken up with my cards financial fraud unit.

McAfee VirusScan Home Edition 8.0 is as sharp as anti-virus software can be. It is 100% effective at detecting and it completes the task of scanning detecting very quickly, and it does block 6 ports of the PC as well.
