Webassist Software Is Far More Of A Headache Than It's Worth

WebAssist used to offer some decent programs but they certainly haven't kept up with advances in Internet standards and practices. I've spent over a thousand dollars on WebAssist software but I'll never spend another cent with them. CSS Form Builder is a perfect example. It crashes my iMac around 50% of the time and my support requests have yielded marginal results at best. Changes I've made simply vanish when I change something else in the form. The forms created by CSS Form Builder are not automatically responsive as they should be. Efforts to make them responsive are extremely labor intensive and require an advanced knowledge of CSS. WebAssist software is by far the biggest time waster in my software arsenal.

Waste Of Money - Avoid This Company Like The Plague

Software is buggy as hell. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking money for software that just plain does not work. Dreamweaver now crashes every three minutes.

For $550 USD it should work out of the box. Instead you end up on the forums for hours on end asking for help. And when one thing is solved something else goes batshat crazy. It is never ending.

Nothing works as advertized,

Great Ideas And Enthusiastic Support. If It Only Worked.

I own and have used Design Extender, Data Bridge for several years, from CS4 through CC2014. I love the idea of the extensions and the folks here work incredibly hard to support the product, but the reality is, they are hit and miss. Sometimes they work, sometimes they do not. They frequently crash Dreamweaver and require the assembly of quite a library to deal with the quirks of different hosts. Their greatest value? They help me overcome my laziness, forcing me to learn how do actually write the code myself. Not sure that is the intention, just the reality.

Great Function But Lots Of Bugs

I just upgreaded to newer version and those new version didn't wok on new DW 2014.1 for product serial check.

They updated but still having issues with activation.

I can't even review these new products because I haven't be able to use them after 2 months of the purchaselol

now, I am using their older version which I purchased years ago, and it has javascript errors from time to time and having hard time to make it work.

They are blaming adobe to change the specifications of hosting application, which is dreamweaver. Those activation errors related to javascript errors are depends on the hosting app to some extent. But there should be issues on their side too. Any other extensions from other companies, say p7 or xtend studios, don't have any issues and working fine on both old dreamweaver and newest one.

Webassist Totally Missed Out On Responsiveness!

Webassist forgot about the fact that the web is almost 95% mobile.

I'm left with all bundles they have, but they are of no use because of the lack of responsiveness.

It's a total waste of money.

Allowed Us To Do The Impossible

If you expect Webassist to do everything for you, just the way you want it, you WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. But if you want a fantastic tool to generate data-driven dynamic pages for a website, without having to know advanced coding, Webassist is invaluable.

I walked into Webassist with very limited PHP and SQL knowledge, and it has been a wonderful and challenging learning experience ever since. We managed to create a clean and simple shopping cart with a custom administration backend in less than 6 months. This would have been impossible without Webassist.

The support is very good also - they have an ever growing forum, free support tickets and the fee-based support is really great, they even remote in and debugging right before your eyes while explaining what they are finding. A great learning experience! Worth every penny.

Experienced Developer Have Used Web Assist For 5 Years

Although Web Assist can automate many complex development tasks it is NOT a simple wizard tool that is useful to new web developers.

1. You must understand that mixing web assist code through their tools with existing code can create conflicts.

2. You must understand how Web Assist uses sessions, databases and other dynamic data in order to create the correct interactions.

3. Many of the registration, data assist, security assist and eCart tools are extremely useful, but do take time to learn how to implement properly.

4. Creating "instant sites" with pre made theming, CSS and interactions is a joke. Like many pre-packaged CSS site creation tools the results look terrible and you spend more time trying to correct glitches than you would have spent just building the site from scratch.

5. Pricing model. They really jerked customers around. Moving from a license, then to a subscription then back to a license.

6. Upgrades. Often there is a significant feature missing from one tool, but is in another. You end up having to purchase both to get a complete solution. Then either on app or the other gets upgraded and you have to upgrade both to keep the functionality.

7. Scripting support. They dumped ASP in 2009-2010 and left a bunch of customer stranded.

9. Support - I have always received prompt, personal and highly professional support in the forums free of charge.

10. Every time I have called WA regarding pricing they have tried to make accommodations.

Recommend Web Assist?

If you're an experienced developer familiar with Dreamweaver and often build sites with registrations, logins, security and ecommerce then I would say yes.

If you are a new to web development and are planning to create a single website, then I would say no. Hire a developer. This is not a 1-2-3 build it for me wizard kind of development tool.

You will have to wait days to get support trough the forums. My suggestion, dont waste your moneuy like i did , i have lost weeks in trying to learn and develop ny skills with their plugin.

I Have Been Working With Webassist Extensions For

I have been working with WebAssist extensions for a couple of years now. It took me a little while to get the hang of working with databases but the tools from WebAssist to helped me do things I could have never done on my own.

The design focused extensions will do pretty much everything for you but if you are going to use the developer extensions, reading getting started guides are a must. The forums have been invaluable for me. WebAssist gives a ton of support for free via their system and the forums. No other extension company that I can find, provides the tools to build web apps.

They Have Just Had The Nerve To Ask For Paid Suppo

They have just had the nerve to ask for paid support for their buggy software. They have stopped free forum support and ask $99 dollars to get any help! That is besides download or install problems.

The wise will keep well clear of their products or pay dearly.
